Loretta Krey, 86, always helped friends and family

Loretta B. Krey was a woman who believed in supporting her family and friends.

As a Sunshine Girl for the Southern Gateway Chorus, Mrs. Krey supported her husband of 69 years, Robert A. Krey of Edgewood, when the group traveled everywhere from New York to New Orleans.

And Mrs. Krey maintained her close relationship with her children and would speak to them just about every day, her husband said. She was also available to help her friends, her husband said.

"We have had a good life, " Mr. Krey said.

Mrs. Krey, 86, of Edgewood, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.

She was a self-employed hairdresser and a past president of both the Elsmere Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and Elsmere PTA.

Mrs. Krey was an energetic woman who was unselfish with her time, her husband said.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Krey is also survived by a son, Robert C. Krey of Burlington; a daughter, Janice Leisure of Miami Heights, Ohio; sisters, Frances Luekey of Fort Wright and Pat Cahill-Ketron of Erlanger; 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at noon Friday at Forest Lawn cemetery Chapel, Erlanger. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 2936 Vernon Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219; Kidney Foundation, 2330 Victory Parkway East, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206; or Heart Spring of Kenosha, Wis. Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, is handling arrangements. Jacqueline Hurst Casali, 35, of Wilder, died at 11:20 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas.

She was a realtor with Ware Properties.

Survivors include sons, Robert Carballoso, Alexander Carballoso and Joseph Carballoso, all of Wilder; her mother and stepfather, Emily and Charles Walls of Latonia; brothers, George Hurst of San Antonio, Roger Hurst of Verona and Harrison Hurst of Covington; and sisters, Shelby Thornton of Taylor Mill, Angela Wood of Louisburg, Kan., Rhonda Davis of Jellico, Tenn., and Tracy Lawson of Union.

Services will be at noon Friday at Catchen Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati.

Jo Ann Bockweg Crerend, 60, of Inverness, Fla., formerly of Covington, died April 2 in Inverness. She was a sales clerk, and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Her husband, Tom Crerend, died in 1994.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Lynn Ferri of Blue Point, N.Y.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Church, Covington. Burial was in Bushnell, Fla., National Cemetery. Hooper Funeral Home, Inverness, handled arrangements.

Mary K. Cundiff, 68, of Richwood, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.

Arrangements are pending at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.

Eugene Gosney, 79, of Butler, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth North Hospice Unit in Covington.

Arrangements are pending at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.

Ann Marie Inskeep, 62, of Palm Springs, Calif., and formerly of Northern Kentucky, died Wednesday at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz.

Arrangements are pending at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.

William R. Keefer, 61, of Erlanger, died Monday at his home. He was a manager for Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Survivors include daughters, Sherry Kay Shinkle of Amelia, Ohio, and Susan Jean Keefer of Brown County, Ohio; a son, William Michael Keefer of Brown County; brothers, John E. Keefer, Robert M. Keefer, Jerry T. Keefer and David C. Keefer, all of Ohio; and seven grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Monica-St. George Church, Cincinnati. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday at Nurre Brothers Funeral Home, Cincinnati. Burial will be in St. Joseph Old Cemetery, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 2936 Vernon Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.

Isabelle Taylor Lovelace, 86, of Fort Thomas, died Tuesday at the Highlands of Fort Thomas nursing home. She was a retired bookkeeper for Knoxville Christian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Ruthman of Cincinnati; sons, Gaylon Lovelace of Elsmere and Thomas Michael Lovelace of New York; a brother, Milton Taylor of Lexington; a sister, Virginia Marquette of Florida; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler. Visitation will begin there at noon Saturday. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery.

Dorothy L. Lannigan Sturgeon, 71, of Erlanger, died at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. She was a saleswoman for Erpenbeck Co. Her husband, Raymond Sturgeon, died in 1996.

Survivors include a son, Terry Sturgeon of Independence; daughters, Deborah Adkins of Florence and Judy Meece of Crestview Hills; sisters, Shirley Lubbe of Covington, Patricia Roth of Erlanger, and Carol Koch and Sharon Johnson, both of Florence; brothers, Alfred Lannigan of Covington and William Lannigan of Edgewood; and eight grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mother of God Cemetery, Covington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

Harry R. Thomas, 78, of Aberdeen, Ohio, died Wednesday at University Hospital in Cincinnati. He was a school bus driver for Ohio Valley School System.

Survivors include his wife, Marian Thomas; daughters, Lisa Lynn Doyle of Lexington, Margaret Ann Listermann of Cincinnati and Shirley Thomas of Maysville; a son, Harry Ray Thomas of Manchester, Ohio; a sister, Pauline Strode of Mount Carmel; a brother, Donald Thomas of Maysville; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Brell Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Maysville.

Margaret Morrow VanDermark, 96, of New Bern, N.C., formerly of Covington, died Tuesday at Berne Retirement Village, New Bern. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Covington, and was active in the church Women's Guild.

Survivors include sons, Jonathan VanDermark of New Bern and Thomas M. VanDermark of Somerset; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Cotten Funeral Home, New Bern, is handling arrangements.

Helen Steffen Wagner, 84, of Highland Heights, died at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport.

Arrangements are pending at Alexandria Funeral Home.

Rosemary F. Ward, 83, of Latonia, died at 2:45 a.m. Monday at Rosedale Manor in Latonia.

She was a homemaker and a member of Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati golf leagues. Her husband, James M. Ward II, died in 1998.

Survivors include sons, James M. Ward III of Lakeside Park, John P. Ward of Edgewood and Tom Ward of Independence; daughters, Mimi Trenkamp of Independence, Terri Simpson and Lynne Molitor, both of Erlanger, Sue Gough of Atlanta, Kathy Vogelpohl of Burlington and Nancy Clark of Pine Island, Fla.; 31 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Church, Independence.

Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Entombment will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell.

Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014; or Alzheimer's Disease Association, 644 Linn St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45203. Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere, is handling arrangements.

Monica Weichold, 90, of Cincinnati and formerly of Ludlow, died Wednesday at Mercy Franciscan Hospital in Western Hills, Ohio.

Survivors include a sister, Ursula Fielding of Price Hill, Ohio; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Church of the Resurrection, Price, Hill. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Meyer and Geiser Funeral Home, Western Hills. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cincinnati.

Memorials are suggested to Alzheimers Disease Association, 644 Linn St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45203.

Carl E. Yeager, 83, of Fort Thomas, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. He was a teacher and coach for St. Bernard, Ohio, High School, and an Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Margot Yeager; a daughter, Pam Campbell of Fort Thomas; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to Coach Carl Yeager Scholarship Fund, St. Bernard High School, 105 Washington Ave., St. Bernard, Ohio 45217.
