S.M. Robinson, always ready to help

Stewart M. Robinson was an unassuming man whose actions spoke louder than his words.

If ill people needed a ride for medical treatment, Mr. Robinson would drive them. If low-income people needed food or clothes, Mr. Robinson saw to it they had it.

If friends or family members needed help filling out their tax forms, Mr. Robinson would do them.

"He was quiet. He would do things for others, but he didn't want anyone to make a to-do over him, " said a son, Mark Robinson of Florence.

Stewart Robinson, 76, of Fort Mitchell, died at 9:13 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. He was chief of revenue with the Internal Revenue Service in Covington and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Robinson grew up in Ludlow and spent most of his life in Fort Mitchell. He enjoyed golfing and playing bridge, his son said.

Mr. Robinson coached his children in baseball when they were young, and he also built a room in Mark's basement.

"He was a good dad, " Mark Robinson said.

Besides his son, survivors include his wife, Alberta Bohman Robinson; another son, Greg Robinson of Fort Mitchell; a daughter, Lynn Wigger of Louisville; a sister, Helen Steenken of Fort Wright; and eight grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Monday. Entombment will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell.

Memorials are suggested to Be Concerned, 714 Washington St., Covington, Ky. 41011. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Margaret M. Adick, 88, of Edgewood, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Pius X Church, Edgewood.

Survivors include daughters, Marcia Klaene of Lakeside Park, Joan Strittholt of Cincinnati and Janice Johannemann of Alexandria; and 12 grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Pius X Church. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Monday. Entombment will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell.

Memorials are suggested to Diocesan Catholic Children's Home, 75 Orphanage Road, Fort Mitchell, Ky. 41017 or to American Heart Association, 2936 Vernon Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.

William C. Clemons, 86, of Burlington, died Thursday at Village Care Center, Erlanger.

He was a truck driver with Plumbing Supply Co., Louisville.

Survivors include stepsons, John A. Mattingly of Louisville and Don C. Mattingly of Burlington; five granddaughters, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.

Edward C. Collopy Jr., 59, of Fort Mitchell, died at 11:50 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

He was a retired chemical sales representative with Ashland Chemical Co., Cincinnati, and an Air Force veteran.

Survivors include brothers, Jim Collopy of Cincinnati and Tom Collopy of Ambler, Pa.; and sisters, Sister Andrea Collopy, O.S.B., of Villa Hills, Mary Wright of Union, Rita Thaman of Niceville, Fla., Ann Egbers of Fort Mitchell and Claire Herringer of Seymour, Ill.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church, Crescent Springs. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati.

Memorials are suggested to St. Walburg Monastery, 2500 Amsterdam Road, Villa Hills, Ky. 41017.

Hallie Ervin, 75, of Warsaw, died Friday at her home.

She was a homemaker. Her husband, Albert Ervin, died in 1980.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Wells of Erlanger; a son, Jerry Hulker of Warsaw; a brother, James Williamson of Tacoma, Wash.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Graveside services will follow at Arlington Cemetery, Cincinnati.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

John "Jack" Flinker, 66, of Fort Thomas, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas.

He was a retired service representative with General Electric, Cincinnati, and an Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Flinker; daughters, Robin Cornetet of Fort Thomas, Cindy Sidley of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Mary Dutiel of Crestview; sons, Norman Flinker of Covington and Stephen Flinker of Detroit; his mother, Mary Flinker of Fort Thomas; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Evergreen cemetery Chapel, Southgate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Dorothy Dean Turner Hartman, 78, of Worthville, died Friday at Baptist Hospital East, Louisville.

She was a homemaker and a member of Worthville Baptist Church. Her husband, Gayle Hartman, died in 2000.

Survivors include daughters, Barbara Godman of Carrollton, Lavern Kelley of Madison, Ind., and Anna Kathern Mefford of Worthville; a sister, Mary Adams of Worthville; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Worthville Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton. Burial will be in Worthville Cemetery.

Florence B. Hensley, 64, of Hebron, died at 6:30 a.m. Friday at St. Luke Medical Center West, Florence.

She was a retired employee of Kenner Products, Cincinnati. A son, Ronnie Dale Devine, died in 1977.

Survivors include her husband, Boone Hensley; a son, Clifford Wayne Hensley, at home; a daughter, Sherry Hensley of Cincinnati; brothers, Sam Devine and Billy Devine, both of Harrodsburg; and sisters, Lillian Long and Norma Devine, both of Harrodsburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery.

Charles J. Herman, 65, of Villa Hills, died Thursday in Gulfport, Miss.

Arrangements are pending at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia.

Mary Etta Jaco, 94, of Florence, died Friday at Rosedale Manor, Latonia.

Arrangements are pending at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.

Kathleen M. Knipper, 33, of Harrison County, died Thursday at Central Baptist Church, Lexington.

She was an employee of TST Inc., Cynthiana.

Survivors include sons, Adam Knipper, Eric Knipper and Derrick Knipper, all of Cynthiana; her mother and stepfather, Janet Redding Cline and Pete Cline of Cynthiana; brothers, Vic Knipper, Michael Knipper, Mitchell Knipper and Kenny Knipper, all of Cynthiana, and David Knipper of Nicholasville; and sisters, Theresa Knipper of Mount Olivet, Christine Faulkner and Loretta Sibbald, both of Cynthiana.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Harrison County Cemetery, Cynthiana.

Rosemary Eshman Lindsay, 84, of Alexandria, died Friday at her home. She was a retired cafeteria worker with Campbell County High School, Alexandria, and a member of Alexandria United Methodist Church, Happy 100's, Kings and Queens of Alexandria, and the Ladies Auxiliary the Alexandria Fire Department. Her husband, Oscar Lindsay, died in 1992.

Survivors include a son, Charles Lindsay of Alexandria; brothers, George Eshman of Foster and John Eshman of Peach Grove; sisters, Viola Human of Atlanta, Ruth Heithaus, Betty Stewart and Catherine Eshman, all of Cincinnati, and Beulah Kennedy of Marion, Ind.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Alexandria United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Burial will be in Peach Grove Cemetery.

John M. Marcum Sr., 67, of Covington, died at 2:55 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.

He was a self-employed fence installer and owner of Marcum Chain Fence Co., Covington.

Survivors include sons, John M. Marcum Jr. of Newport, Kenny Marcum of Bellevue, David Marcum and Ricky Marcum, both of Nashville, Tenn.; daughters, Karen Hutchkraft and Kim Sturgeon, both of Fort Thomas; stepsons, Jimmy Kennedy and Tommy Sullivan, both of Cincinnati; a stepdaughter, Pauline Helton of Taylor Mill; brothers, Cecil Marcum and Prentice Marcum, both of Covington, and Rufus Marcum of Morning View; a sister, Juanita Bowman of Newport; 32 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Beatrice Agnes Matt, 83, of Fort Thomas, died Thursday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home, Fort Thomas.

She was a caregiver for the elderly and a member of Ladies Altar Society at Corpus Christi Church, Newport.

Survivors include a sister, Lucille Meadows of Newport; and brothers, James Matt of Warsaw and Robert Matt of Independence.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Carmel Manor Chapel, Fort Thomas. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Mildred Yelton Redding, 93, of Cumberland, formerly of Latonia, died at 9:01 a.m. Friday at Harlan Hospital.

She was a retired payroll clerk with Hilton Hotels, Cincinnati, and a member of Latonia Baptist Church, where she was the church pianist. Her husband, Foster Redding, died in 1965.

Survivors include nieces, Sara F. Lockett and Patricia Skelton, both of Roanoke, Va.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

James Joseph Reinhart, 63, of Highland Heights, died at 7:30 a.m. Friday at Lakeside Health Care Center in Highland Heights.

Survivors include a sister, Joan Muench of Southgate; and a brother, William Reinhart of Columbus, Ga.

Services will be at the convenience of the family.

James E. Ridder, 75, of Greenfield, Wis., formerly of Newport, died Thursday at West Allis, Wis., Memorial Hospital.

He was an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration.

Survivors include his wife, Arlyss H. Wescher Ridder; sons, Louis E. Ridder of Chilton, Wis., and James A. Ridder of Cottage Grove, Wis.; daughters, Margaret A. Stone of New Berlin, Wis., and Carolyn J. Solie of Effingham, Ill.; a sister, Mary E. Muck of Erlanger; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Krause Funeral Home, New Berlin, Wis. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Vivian Sue Rigney, 58, of Berlin, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, David Rigney; sons, James R. Rigney and Clifford W. Rigney, both of Cincinnati; a daughter, Christie Rigney of Berlin; sisters, June Lefevers of Talbott, Tenn., Julia Gibson of Pineville, Lula Crawford of Van Wert, Ohio, Geraldine Odya of Sumter, S.C., and Georgia Jackson of Georgetown, Ohio; a brother, Billy Cadle of Talbott; and three grandchildren.

James E. Rogers, 85, of Albany, N.Y., formerly of Northern Kentucky, died March 17 in Albany.

He was a retired executive with Armour and Co. and an Army veteran.

Survivors include daughters Patricia Shepard of Glendale, Ariz., and Kathleen Keilman of New Lenox, Ill.; and a sister, Elizabeth Slagen of Rensselaer, N.Y.

Survivors include sons, Robert H. Worthington of Crittenden and Audie L. Worthington of Evansville; a daughter, Alma Lucille Jones of Crittenden; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
