Mason Lawson, 74, neighborhood 'fix-it' man with big heart

Mason Lawson watched over his Covington neighborhood from the window of his home.

"He sat in the window for 30 years," said a son, Jerry M. Lawson of Edgewood. "Everybody called him the man in the window.

"If cars would come by too fast, he'd get the license number," his son said. "If a car would come by and break down, he'd go out and work on it. He was amazing."

He was a truck driver for Holland Motor Express and a Navy veteran of World War II.
