Thomas Carr, Conrail supervisor
Whether it was at home, church, work or play, Thomas D. Carr believed in doing his best.
"He liked to be in charge," said a daughter, Margaret Twehues of Cold Spring.
Mr. Carr, 72, of Wilder, died Tuesday at his home. He was a retired supervisor of bridge and building inspections for Conrail in Cincinnati. He was a member of the Campbell County Bob White Club and Campbell County Game and Fish Club.
Mr. Carr was a Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, Dolores Ackman Carr, died in 1997.
Mr. Carr was born in Southgate and spent most of his life in Campbell County. Mrs. Twehues said her father was a good trap shooter who later took up golf.
He insisted that his daughters attend church and perform their religious ceremonies flawlessly, Mrs. Twehues said.
"If you went into church and didn't bless yourself correctly, you had to go back and do it again," Mrs. Twehues said.
Mr. Carr loved his children and doted on his grandchildren, his daughter said.
"They all loved him and worshipped him," Mrs. Twehues said. "He enjoyed spending time with them."
Other survivors include daughters, Nancy Geiman of Mentor, Patty Kroger and Joyce Trauth, both of Alexandria, and twins Joan Carr and Judy Carr, both of Wilder; a sister, Claire DiPilla of Cincinnati; brothers, James Carr of Cincinnati, Robert Carr of Erlanger and Jack Carr of Baltimore; and 10 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Prayers will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Church Building Fund, 4011 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, Ky. 41075.
Frances Goerke Barnett, 87, of Highland Heights, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Newport. Her husband, Lloyd Barnett, and sons, William Barnett and Terry Barnett, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Barnett of Florence; a sister, Cecilia Goerke ; four grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Church of the Nazarene, Newport. Visitation will be from 7 at 9 tonight at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
Adlene Lena Combs Evans, 85, of Fort Thomas, died Tuesday at the Highlands of Fort Thomas nursing home. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons, Glenn Evans of Dayton and Michael Evans of Lexington; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at noon Friday at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, Nicholasville. Memorials are suggested to Arthritis Foundation, 7811 Laurel Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45243. Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.
Etheleen "Nina" D. Dozier Hall, 69, of Newport, died Tuesday at her home. She was a homemaker. Her husband, William Hall, died in 1979.
Survivors include a son, Robbie Hall of Newport; daughters, Tanie Powers of Newport and Gail Clark of Southgate; brothers, Weed Dozier of Venice, Fla., and Hugh Dozier of Waco; a sister, Mayme Dozier of Mount Vernon; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Perry William "Bill" McIntyre, 67, of Warsaw, died Wednesday at Owenton Manor. He was a retired landscaper and a member of Sanders Baptist Church. A son, Billy McIntyre, died in 1981.
Survivors include daughters, Peggy McIntyre of Ghent, Tina Holder and Rae Jean Chatman, both of Sanders; a son, Tony McIntyre of Sanders; sisters, Sylba Sullivan of Sanders, Helen McCormick of Ghent and Doris Jean Martin of Indiana; brothers, Roy McIntyre of Louisville, George Robert McIntyre of New Liberty, Buck McIntyre of Sanders and Tommy Dale McIntyre of Indiana; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ghent Masonic Cemetery.
Lonnie T. Parks, 37, of Warsaw, died Wednesday of cancer at Nortons Hospital, Louisville. He was a former employee of Sweco Inc., Florence.
Survivors include his wife, Tina Parks; daughters, Rebecca Louise Parks and Tonya Faye Parks, both of Warsaw; parents, Louise McIntyre of Owenton and Wendall Parks of Henry County; brothers, James Parks of Bedford and Joe Parks of Henry County; sisters, Donna Wilhoite of Louisville, Dana Powell of Dry Ridge, Charlene McCormick of LaGrange, and Barbara Ann Puckett, Connie Barnes and Jennifer Parks, all of Henry County.
Services will be at noon Friday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation begins there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery.
Robert Louis Sims, 57, of Newport, died Saturday at his home. He was a steward with the Westin Hotel, Cincinnati, and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Sims; a daughter, Laura Huffman of Newport; sons, Tony Agliata of Covington, Danniel Sims and Scott Sims, both of Newport, and Shawn Sims of Omaha, Neb.; his mother, Dorothy Sims of Louisville; brothers, Ken Sims, Tom Sims, Jeff Sims, Tony Sims and Arthur Sims, of Louisville, Bill Sims of Bowling Green and Dick Sims of North Carolina; and sisters, Barbara Simones, Martha Liebret and Mary Sims, of Louisville.
Services will be at noon Friday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
Evelyn "Sis" Soards, 85, of Ludlow, died Wednesday at her residence. Her husband, Christopher Soards, died in 1993.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Carolyn Daniels Sturdivant, 50, of Independence, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Park Hills, and an honorable elder of the Kentucky Colonels.
She was a founding member of the Independence Civic Association and a member of Old Kentucky Primitives, the Kenton County Homemakers and the Independence Historical Society.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth C. Sloan of Latonia; her father, Carl Rose of Morning View; and sisters, Jean McMullin of Park Hills, Joan Banks of Warsaw and Ruth Long of Morning View.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Independence Civic Association.
Viola Mae Teegarden, 78, of Butler, died Wednesday at her home. She was a retired housekeeper at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights, and a member of Church of the Nazarene, Augusta.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Teegarden; daughters, Burnet Saunders and Violet Maxwell, both of Butler, Judith Herald of Booneville and Shirley Taylor of Fort Thomas; sons, Cecil Teegarden and Roy Teegarden, both of Butler, and Danny Teegarden of Alexandria; sisters, Clara Fryman of Augusta and Virginia Wachter of Chatham; a brother, Billy Kiskaden of Augusta; 22 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Germantown.
