Barry Hudson, police officer, firefighter

Barry E. Hudson spent a good portion of his life as a Crittenden police officer and volunteer firefighter in Florence and Crittenden.

In recent years, he had to give up his firefighter duties because of heart problems. On Monday night, Mr. Hudson, 49, complained about throat problems and collapsed. He never recovered.

However, Mr. Hudson believed in giving his life to others. And in death, he donated his organs to help others live. Already, Mr. Hudson's eyes have been placed with someone else, said his wife of four years, Daisy Morgan Hudson.
