Mable Kinman, loving mom, valued work

Mabel R. Kinman worked most of her life and taught her children how to be independent.

She was soft-spoken, but instilled a strong work ethic into her children, said a daughter, Pat Burkey of Fort Collins, Colo.

"She was just a sweetheart and we adored her," Ms. Burkey said. "She was always there for us."

Mrs. Kinman, 81, of Covington, died at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit in Covington.

As a young woman, recently divorced, Mrs. Kinman found herself needing to support three children and her mother. For a time during World War II she worked as a security guard in Dayton, Ohio, and later became a panel assembler for Bendix Corp. in Cincinnati. She retired from Bendix.

Born in Mercer County, Ky., she later moved north and raised her family in Northern Kentucky and Ohio.

Mrs. Kinman enjoyed traveling to Colorado, her daughter said.

"She fought hard to keep her health, but her heart gave out," Ms. Burkey said.

A son, Charles C. Bryant, died in 1987.

Mrs. Kinman is survived by another daughter, Lynda Hales of Walton; 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shawnee Run Baptist Church, Burgin. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere. Burial will be in Shawnee Run Cemetery, Burgin. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.

Donald L. Adams, 65, of Corinth, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a maintenance worker with Johnson's Control, Georgetown, and an Army veteran of the Korean War. His wife, Betty Adams, died in 1993.

Survivors include stepsons, Michael R. Hammond of Corinth and Jeffrey W. Hammond of Georgetown; brothers, Bill Adams of Lexington and James Robert Adams of Florence; a sister, Ann Bethal of Warsaw; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rogers Funeral Home, Corinth. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

John Wayne Bechtol, 53, of Bellevue, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a Navy veteran.

Survivors include a brother, Ronald Bechtol of Bellevue; and sisters, Mary Anderson of Edgewood and Audrey Croutz of Bellevue.

Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue, is handling arrangements.

Edith Mae Cooper, 88, of Williamstown, died at 5:55 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County in Williamstown. She was a member of Dry Ridge Baptist Church.

Her husband, Elva Cooper, died in 1981. Sons, Donald Cooper, Harold Cooper and three infants, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Charles Cooper of Florence and Johnny Cooper of Williamstown; daughters, Doris Jean Brown of Crittenden, Janice Ruth Messer of Dry Ridge and Brenda Barnett of Newport; a brother, Homer Jones of Williamstown; 24 grandchildren and 29 great- grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Pendleton County.

Joseph Jose Curry, 49, of Newport, died Wednesday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati.

He was a laborer with Raffels Catering Co., Cincinnati, and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include daughters, Marie Curry of Fort Thomas, Melinda Curry of Nashville, Tenn., and Krystle Richerson of Highland Heights; sons, Joseph Curry and Ryan Long, both of Newport; his fiance, Cheryl Nicholas; six sisters and four brothers.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to the Joseph Curry Memorial Fund, in care of Fifth-Third Bank, 53 Donnermeyer Drive, Bellevue, Ky. 41073.

Louise Girdler, 71, of Ludlow, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington.

Arrangements are pending at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.

Ann Eagen Hinds, 88, of Maysville, died at 9:20 a.m. Wednesday at her home. She was a teacher, and was active in Cincinnati inner-city schools education, the Cincinnati Alliance for the Mentally Ill and Over-the-Rhine Community Center.

Her husband, Robert H. Hinds, and a son, Robert H. Hinds Jr., both preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, William H. Hinds of Maysville and Thomas Hinds of Cincinnati; daughters, Sarah Hinds of San Francisco and Susan Hinds of Cincinnati; a brother, Robert Eagen of Cincinnati; a sister, Rosemary Burke of Cincinnati; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Ursula Academy Chapel, Cincinnati. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick Church, Maysville, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Ursula Academy. A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick Church. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Cincinnati.

Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick Church, 112 E. Third St., Maysville, Ky. 41056; or St. Patrick School, 318 Limestone St., Maysville, Ky. 41056. Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville, is handling arrangements.

Theodore Plummer, 90, of Falmouth, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired farmer and a member of Second 12 Mile Baptist Church, Pendleton County.

His first wife, Garnett Biddle Plummer, died in 1978. His second wife, Lula Bell Henry Plummer, died in 1996.

Survivors include a stepson, Donnie Henry of Cincinnati; and a brother, Hubert Plummer of Foster.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Peach Grove Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Falmouth Senior Citizen Center, 1111 Chipman St., Falmouth, Ky. 41040.

Brenda Paullette Seng, 51, of Crescent Springs, died Tuesday at her home. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Seng; a daughter, Amy Seng of Fort Mitchell; her mother, Clara Niemeyer of Crescent Springs; a sister, Candice England of Independence; and a brother, Ken Niemeyer of Villa Hills.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Marie T. Skorewicz, 80, of Villa Hills, died at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday at Madonna Manor in Villa Hills. She was a retired employee of Bohack Corp., New York, and a member of Madonna Manor Chapel in Villa Hills. Her husband, William J. Skorewicz, died in 1974.

Survivors include sons, Dennis Skorewicz of Lakeside Park and Steven Skorewicz of Milford, Pa.; a daughter, Lorraine O'Halloran of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, Joseph Tirado of Chesapeake, Va.; a sister, Margaret Pozankowski of Long Island, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Madonna Manor Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Friday in the chapel. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Raymond Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y.

Memorials are suggested to Madonna Manor, 2344 Amsterdam Road, Villa Hills, Ky. 41017. Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, is handling arrangements.
