Milkman Harold Stephany, "full of life'

As a man who delivered milk door-to-door for a large part of his life, Harold Stephany became acquainted with many people.

'He was always running into people he had delivered milk to,' said Mr. Stephany's wife, Florine Laake Stephany;

Mr. Stephany, 82, of Edgewood, died Saturday at his home.

Mr. Stephany retired about 20 years ago as a deliveryman for Clover Leaf Dairy in Newport, his wife said.

'He was on a lot of routes throughout Northern Kentucky, and I imagine a lot of people knew him as the man who put the milk on their porch,' she said.

'He was full of life. He loved to tell jokes,' said Mrs. Stephany.

A native of the Licking Pike area of Campbell County, Mr. Stephany was a member of St. Pius X Church, Edgewood. He liked to camp and travel, his wife said. As a couple, they enjoyed taking rides, often into Indiana, and eating in different restaurants, she said.

Mr. Stephany had been in failing health for the last few years and had undergone several operations, Mrs. Stephany said.

In addition to his wife, survivors include sons, James H. Stephany of Newport and David M. Stephany of Cincinnati; step-sons, Don Laake of Erlanger and Dennis Laake of Villa Hills; and one granddaughter.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pius X Church. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to charity of the donor's choice. Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.

Harry C. 'Pete' Andrews, 86, of Erlanger, died at 9:20 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Ralph Fulton VFW Post No. 6423, Elsmere. He was an usher at Elsmere Baptist Church and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Emma Andrews; a brother, Lloyd Andrews of Taylor Mill; and a sister, Julia Stubbemann of Covington.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elsmere Baptist Church. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Elsmere Baptist Church, 250 Garvey Ave., Elsmere, Ky. 41018; or St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Louise 'Mammy' Bramlage, 79, of Florence, died at 11 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Henry Bramlage, died in 1958.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Helmick of Independence; seven grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Dewey Campbell, 73, of Mays Lick, died Friday at his home. He was a retired teacher with the Mason County School System and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Mr. Campbell began teaching at Sardis Elementary School, and later Mays Lick Elementary School, where he became principal. He retired from Mason County Middle School. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher and the church treasurer.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ethel Hord Campbell; a son, Steve Campbell of Salvisa; and brothers, Clifton Campbell of Mays Lick and Stanley Campbell of Prince George, Va.

Services were this morning at Palmer Funeral Home, Mays Lick. Burial was in Shannon Cemetery, Mason County. Memorials are suggested to Bethel United Methodist Church, in care of Clifton Campbell, Treasurer, 51016 U.S. 62, Mays Lick, Ky. 40155.

Sharon Justice Dermody, 41, of Fort Thomas, died Friday at her home. She was an accountant with DuPont Inc., Southgate.

Survivors include her husband, Pat Dermody; a daughter, Erin Tamra Owens of Fort Thomas; brothers, Jerry Justice of Fort Thomas and Robert Justice of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and sisters, Sallie McClane of Union and Tami Taylor.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis deSales Church, Newport. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Richard Thomas Dillon, 81, of Villa Hills, died Friday at Woodglenn Nursing Home, Dayton, Ohio. He was a retired general manager of Container Corp. of America and a member of St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright. His first wife, Margaret Gutting Dillon, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Exterkamp Dillon; sons, Terrence Dillon of Dayton, Ohio, Dennis Dillon of New Orleans and Kevin Dillon of Norfolk, Va.; daughters, Patricia Crosby of Lorman, Miss., Kathleen Welde of Myrtle Beach, N.C., Mary Leonard of Chicago, Peggy Fisher of Port Orange, Fla., and Diane Sanford of Hickory, N.C.; sisters, Jeanne Middendorf of Crestview Hills and Dorothy Weber of Fort Wright; 23 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Agnes Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Entombment will be in St. John Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to St. Andrew School Library, 555 Main St., Milford, Ohio 45150.

Sarah E. Gauthier, 82, of Centerville, Ohio, formerly of Grant County, died Sunday in Centerville. She was a retired employee of Keebler Baking Co., Centerville.

Survivors include sisters, Thelma Cleveland of Williamstown and Beatrice Hammons of Centerville, Ohio.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elliston Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Williamstown Cemetery.

Catherine G. Hertel, 86, of Brookville, Ind., died Friday at Brookville Health Care Center. She was an employee of Jay Garmat Co. and Dairy Cottage, both in Indiana, and a member of St. Michael Church in Brookville and Daughters of Isabella. Her husband, Thomas W. Hertel, preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Thomas E. Hertel of Brookville and Charles Hertel of Lake Wells, Fla.; daughters, Bernice Kirschner and Judy Strohmier, both of Brookville, and Pat Steffen of Alexandria; a sister, Emma Novak of Cleveland; 17 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Church, Brookville. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, Brookville. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Brookville. Memorials are suggested to St. Michael School Building Fund, 354 High St., Brookville, Ind. 47012.

Dwight W. Hostetter, 94, of Fort Mitchell, died at 1:20 p.m. Friday at Florence Park Care Center, Florence. He was an attorney and trust officer with Central Trust Co., Cincinnati, and president of the Cincinnati Club.

Sons David Hostetter and Paul Hostetter preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Requardt-Hostetter; a daughter, Margaret Bachmann of Cincinnati; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, Lakeside Park. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lakewood, Ohio, Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Dorothy Page Mason, 86, of Ludlow, died Saturday at her home. She was a retired clerk with Railway Express and a former employee of the Gibson Greeting Card Co. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Bromley. There are no survivors.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn cemetery Chapel, Erlanger. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel United Church of Christ, 110 Boone St., Bromley, Ky. 41016; or St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014. Bert D. McCandless, 71, of Ludlow, died Sunday at Veterans Administration Health Care Center, Fort Thomas.

Arrangements are pending at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.

Dorothy R. Loschiavo Nieman, 87, of Fort Mitchell, died Sunday at her home.

Arrangements are pending at Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere.

Audrey Ohmer, 61, of Dry Ridge, died Sunday at Dry Ridge Personal Care Center.

Arrangements are pending at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown.

Jack N. Osborne, 66, of Burlington, died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in McAllen, Texas. He was a retired Metro bus driver in Cincinnati, and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Osborne; a son, Steve Osborne of Mason, Ohio; a daughter, Laura Lutz of Mason, Ohio; a brother, Harold Osborne of Cincinnati; a sister, Irma Noakes of Cincinnati; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Berdinia Pugh, 78, of Cynthiana, died at 4:23 a.m. Saturday at her home. She was a retired employee of Bluegrass Industries, Cynthiana, and a member of Mount Gilead Christian Church, Harrison County, and Falmouth Chapter No. 481 Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Orie Linus Pugh; sons, Kenneth Pugh of Walton and James Matthew Pugh of Sunrise;; a daughter, Brenda Dietrich of Covington; a sister, Juanita Poe of Foster; a brother, Donald Hester of Fairfield, Ohio; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunrise Cemetery, Harrison County.

Ralph A. Ramler, 48, of Hebron, died Thursday at St. Francis Beach Grove Hospital, Indianapolis. He was a metal finisher with Lee Quigley Co., Miamitown, Ohio.

Survivors include his wife, Lois I. Macht Ramler; sons, Jason N. Ramler of Covington and Matthew B. Ramler, at home; and a sister, Shirley Mueller of Lyndora, Pa.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 6:30 p.m. today at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Burlington. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron, is handling arrangements.

Roberta Stephens Souther, 88, of Erlanger, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

Arrangements are pending at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger.

Mary Marie Stephens, 79, of Florence, died at 12:58 p.m. Thursday at her home. She was a retired cafeteria worker at Scott High School in Tylor Mill.

Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Marie Solesky of Orangeburg, N.Y.; brothers, Oliver Cox Jr., Stewart Cox and Bill Cox, all of Covington, and Elmer Cox of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; and sisters, Julie Anderson of Crittenden, Joann Abahezi of Morning View and Margaret Woodward of Florence.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at noon.

Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Anna Marie Stoup, 54, of Covington, died at 4:23 a.m. today at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Hospice Unit, Covington.

Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.

Madeline M. Taylor, 88, of Brookville, Ind., formerly of Walton, died Thursday at Fayette Memorial Hospital, Connersville, Ind. She was a homemaker and a member of Walton Christian Church. Her husband, Barney Wood Taylor, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Bruce W. Taylor of Santa Cruz, Calif.; brothers, Orville Shaeffer of Tampa, Fla., and Deane Shaeffer of Sharon, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery. Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, Brookville, Ind., is handling arrangements.

Nancy F. Thackston, 90, of Mason County, died at 10 a.m. Friday at Robertson County Health Care Center in Mount Olivet. She was a member of Shannon United Methodist Church. Her husband, Tracey H. Thackston, died in 1957. A daughter, Jacqulyn Dean Chandler, died in 1973.

Survivors include sons, Malayan Thackston of Aberdeen, Ohio, and James Thackston of Maysville; a brother, William Mitchell of Wilmington, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Palmer Funeral Home, May's Lick. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Shannon Cemetery.

Donald Wayne Vines, 57, of Hebron, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a bus driver with Budget Rent-a-Car, a member of the Hebron Fire Department and attended Covington Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Jean North Vines; a daughter, Stephanie Nadine Vines, at home; a son, Wesley Wayne Vines, at home; sisters, Viola Vines of Florence and Betty Lawson of Burlington; and brothers, Virgil Vines and Roy Vines, both of Florence, Harold Vines and Bill Vines, both of Hebron.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery. Elbert Lee Ware, 57, of Owenton, died Friday at Owen County Hospital in Owenton. He was a farmer and a member of Long Ridge Baptist Church.

Survivors include a cousin, Dora Robinson of Eminence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will begin there at noon Wednesday. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.

Leo Joseph Wilbers Sr., 70, of Aurora, Colo., formerly of Covington, died Feb. 25 in Aurora. He was a retired carpenter and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Alice Simonton Wilbers; sons, Wayne L. Wilbers of New River, Ariz., Gary L. Wilbers, Leo J. Wilbers Jr. and Scott L. Wilbers, all of Aurora, Colo., and James M. Wilbers of Parker, Colo.; daughters, Lynn C. Casey of Aurora, Colo., Paula M. Schatz of Wilton, N.D., and Bonnie S. Hickman of Oxford, Mich.; brothers, Larry Wilbers and Paul Wilbers, both of Cincinnati; sisters, Mary Ann Albers of Covington and Naomi Ruth Cain of Union; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Julia Willhite, 92, of California, died Saturday at Lakeside Place Nursing Home, Highland Heights. She was a homemaker and a member of Carthage United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret 'Peggy' Ray of California; a son, Dan Willhite of Foster; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 7:30 tonight at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Gilead Cemetery, Carthage. Memorials are suggested to Carthage United Methodist Church, Carthage Road, California, Ky. 41007.
