Lu Bertie Cole, 73, of Lucasville Rt. 2, died Friday, May 18, at Mercy Hospital.
A Greenup County, Ky., native, she was a member of Huston Hollow Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Thaddeus Cole; five sons, Oakley Cole of Orient, Larry Cole, at home, Hardwick Cole of Commercial Point, Rinford Riffe of West Jefferson and Gene Cole of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Diana Neal of Wheelersburg, Mrs. Fay Blanton of Ashville, and Mrs. Edna McGinnis of Portsmouth; two brothers, Wilmer Logan of Wheelersburg and Walter Logan of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Elsie Humble of Wheelersburg and Thelma Potts of Gahanna; two stepdaughters, Mable Ferguson, Florence, Ky., and Laphene Von Dohre of Kettering; 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 21, at Daehler Funeral Home in Portsmouth, with Rev. Granville Estepp officiating. Interment was in McKendree Cemetery.

Ethel M. Collard Dies at Hospital
Ethel M. Collard, 69, died in the Good Samaritan Hospital a 7:25 am Saturday.
She was the daughter of Sherman and Mary Logan, and was born in Kentucky on Dec. 26, 1894. Her home here was at 312 Bowman Terrace.
Her husband Cletus Collard died in 1956.
Surviving are: two children, Neil of Vincennes and Kenneth of South Carolina; a brother Jack Logan and a sister Mr. Mary Price, both of San Diego Calif.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church.
The body is at the Gardner funeral home where arrangements are incomplete.

Colley
SOUTH SHORE – Services for Edward Colley, 91, of South Shore, who died Friday at Mercy Hospital in Portsmouth, are planned at 1 p.m. Monday at Roberson Funeral home.
A native of Carter County, he was preceded in death by his first wife Mary Van Bibber Colley in 1964.
Surviving are his second wife, Minerva Brown Colley of Wheelersburg; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Ockerman of South Shore and Mrs. Irene Taulbee of South Portsmouth; seven stepchildren; a half-brother, Jacob Loop of Sciotoville, Ohio, a half sister, Mrs. Myrtle Gifford of Quincy; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
Roger Madden minister and Rev. Ronald Blevins are to officiate at services, with interment in Sunset cemetery at Quincy.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight, from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday and until the time of services Monday.

Mrs. Edward Colley
Mrs. Mary Colley, 73, of Quincy, Ky., died at 7:15 p.m. Friday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Taulbee of Quincy.
She was the wife of Edward Colley.
Surviving are her husband, another daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Ockerman of Quincy; a brother Albert Vanbibber of Detroit; two sisters Mrs. Rachel Branam of Marquette, Mich., and Mrs. Lina Hollis of Kalkaska, Mich.; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services are to be at 2 p.m. Monday at Briary Christian Baptist Church at Quincy with Rev. Paul Allen officiating. Burial is to be in Sun Set cemetery at Quincy under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home at South Shore.
Friends may call at the residence of a daughter Mr. Raymond Taulbee of Quincy, after 6 tonight.

Colley
Wheelersburg – Mrs. Minerva Susan Colley, 98, of Wheelersburg, Rt. 4, died this morning at Greenbrier Convalescent Center here.
A native of Adams County, she was a member of Highland Bend Christian Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Oliver Brown in 1924; her second husband Arch Horner in 1950, her third husband, Ezra Royster in 1963, and her fourth husband Edward Colley, earlier this year.
Surviving are three sons, Fred Brown of West Union, Jarvey Brown of Cherry Fork and Woodrow Brown of Aberdeen; four daughters, Mrs. Icy Riddlebarger of Lucasville Rt. 3, Mrs. Virgie Madden of Columbus, Mrs. Flora Hill of Wheelersburg, Rt. 2 and Mrs. Leota Ruth, 1822 11th St. Portsmouth; eight stepchildren, 41 grandchildren, 112 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
Services are planned at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville, with Revs. Ira Fowler and Virgil Cooper officiating and interment in Memorial Burial Park.
Friends may call after 6.pm. Sunday at the funeral home.

Paul Collier
1940-2003
Paul Collier, 63, of St. Paul, Ky., died Monday, May 26, in Southern Ohio Medical Center.
He was born April 17, 1940, in Iron Hill, a son of Johnson Hugert Collier of South Shore, Ky., and the late Agnes Marie Whitt Collier.
He was a retired brick and block layer with Bricklayers Union Local of Ohio and was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Jonathan McCleese.
His survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathy Reynolds of Olive Hill, Ky., Rhonda and Jim White of St. Paul and Paula and Tony Wilson of Olive Hill; two sons, Paul Anthony Collier and Michael Steven Collier of Garrison, Ky.; five sisters, Gladys Newman and Helen Jessie Whitt, both of Lower Grassy, Ky., Lois Leal of Covington, Ky., Betty Harding of Midland, Mich., and Phyllis Fraze of St. Paul; a half brother, Robert Collier of Columbus, Ohio; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by Carlos Newman, minister. Burial will be in Huff cemetery in Iron Hill.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 tonight and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Ernest Collins
Ashland – Ernest Collins, 73, of Garrison, died Thursday, July 19, in King’s Daughter’s Hospital.
Mr. Collins was born Feb. 12, 1911, in Greenup County, a son of the late Scott Horsley and Maggie Collins.
He was a retired employee of Tennessee Gas Transmission Plant, a member Grassy Creek Church of Christ, a Kentucky Colonel and an honorary deputy sheriff.
Surviving are his wife, Eloise Moore Collins; two sons, Curtis D. Collins of Tucson, Ariz., and Delbert Collins of Garrison; three daughters, Mrs. Madeline C. Smith of Aberdeen, Ohio, and Mrs. Margaret M. Smith and Mrs. Vickie Smith, both of Garrison; a brother, Johnny Horsley of Xenia, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Goldie Centers of Columbus; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 21, at Lower Grassy Church of Christ by minister Donald Mash. Burial followed in the family cemetery on Three Prong.
Pallbearers were Carlos Wolfe, Charles Byrd, Cebert Horsley, Don Underwood, David Kiser and Art Messer.

August Conley, 79, truck driver
August "Curly" Conley, 79, of Garden City, Wheelersburg, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 1995 at home.
Born Aug. 1, 1916, in New Boston, a son of the late Edwin [sic., Edward] and Edna Brown Conley, he was a retired self employed truck driver, a World War II Army veteran, where he was active in boxing and wrestling, a stock car driver and a member of Hayport Road Gospel Mission in Wheelersburg.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Gertrude Shaw Conley, whom he married June 28, 1941, in Friendship; two sons, Jerry Conley of Portsmouth and Ronald Conley of Wheelersburg; six daughters, Barbara Conley of Hawaii, Linda Strong, Mrs. Kenneth (Dianna) Bostick, all of Sciotoville, and Mrs. Ellis (Sandra) Bowling and Rebecca Conley, all of Wheelersburg; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by tow sons, Buddy Conley and Robert L. Donley [sic., Conley] and an infant sister.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Don Wolfe Funeral Home in Sciotoville, with Pastor Howard McGraw officiating, and interment in Memorial Burial Park, with military graveside rites by James Dickey Post American Legion.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and for an hour before the services Wednesday.

August Comley [sic; Conley] Jr.
Funeral services for August Comley Jr. 13-month-old son of Mr. and Mrs. August Comley of Sciotodale, who died at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the residence of Louis Smith of Sciotodale. Rev. William Sheppard will be in charge and burial will be in Wheelersburg Cemetery.
Surviving are the parents, a sister Barbara, 4, and a brother, Robert, 3.

Carlos Conley, 59, of Emerson, died Friday at his home.
Mr. Conley was born Jan. 11, 1942, in Indianapolis, Ind., a son of the late Fairl and Thelma Logan Conley.
He was a member of Walnut Grove Community Church. Surviving are his wife, Margie Rayburn Conley; two sons, David Conley of Olive Hill and Denny Conley of Emerson; two daughters, Lorinda Richmond and Christy Bradley, both of Vanceburg; a brother, Brad Conley of Knightstown, Ind.; and nine grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill by Eugene Rayburn and Woodrow Rayburn. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call after noon today at the funeral home.
