Phillip Eugene Andriot, owned printing and blinds companies

Phillip Eugene Andriot, owner of Blinds Direct and Andriot's Printing, both in Newport, died at 7:16 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. He was 58.

"His main objective was to work hard so we didn't have to, to provide us all the things we'd ever need and more," said a son, Kevin E. Andriot of Flushing, Mich.

Mr. Andriot grew up in Louisville and studied business at the University of Louisville.

He moved to Northern Kentucky in 1971 as the executive director of the Northern Kentucky Easter Seal Center in Covington. He and his wife settled in Lakeside Park, where they lived ever since and raised their four children.

In the late 1970s, Mr. Andriot's entrepreneurial instincts led him to open a printing company in Newport. About 10 years later, he and his brother opened Blinds Direct. Both remain family-owned and -operated businesses.

"Being an entrepreneur, he wanted to try his hand in other things," said his wife of 34 years, Mary Elinor Andriot.

For 13 years, he and his wife provided love and support for a foster daughter, April Maggard, who had special needs. She died last year, at the age of 23.

"We felt we would just like to offer another child an opportunity to live in a home," his wife said of their decision to care for a foster child.

Mr. Andriot was a member of the Knights of Columbus, past president of the Newport Rotary Club, the Elk Lake Association and Short-Long Term Residential Care (now New Perceptions).

Other survivors include a son, Eric L. Andriot of Lakeside Park; daughters, Elizabeth M. Ernst of Ludlow and Michelle M. Andriot of Lakeside Park; a brother, David L. Andriot of Louisville; and one grandchild.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to the Point (formerly Northern Kentucky Association for the Retarded), 104 Pike St., Covington, Ky. 41001; or Blessed Sacrament Church, 2415 Dixie Highway, Fort Mitchell, Ky. 41017.

Robert "Dave" Bowling, 50, of Verona, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence.

Arrangements are pending at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona.

William S. Bradford, 80, of Frankfort, Ill., formerly of Hebron, died Wednesday at Frankfort Terrace Nursing Home in Frankfort, Ill. He was a barber and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Kentucky Masonic Lodge. His wife, Beulah King Bradford, died in 1986.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Barbour of Mokena, Ill.; a son, William Dale Bradford of Peoria, Ariz.; sisters, Helen Carnahan of Edina, Minn., Marcella Bradford of Fort Mitchell and Ruth Thompson of Cincinnati; a brother, Carlton Bradford of Erlanger; and four grandchildren.

Services and burial will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 13 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla. Gerardi Funeral Home, Frankfort, Ill., is handling arrangements.

Ella Louise Davis, 75, of Cincinnati, formerly of Falmouth, died Thursday at her home.

Arrangements are pending at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth.

Logan Trent Fryman, 17, of Cynthiana, died Wednesday at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana. He was a senior at Harrison County High School, where he was a member of the varsity football team, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Students Against Drunk Driving, Spanish Club, Track Team and Beta Club.

Survivors include his father, Lyle Trent Fryman of Harrison County; his mother, Betty Logan "Penny" Whitson Fryman of Harrison County; a sister, Nickie Fryman Duckworth of Cynthiana; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Freddie Whitson and C.B. and Minnie Ritchie, all of Cynthiana; and a great-grandmother, Anna Elizabeth Whitson of Cynthiana.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana.

John D. Lampke II, 30, of Florence, was dead on arrival Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence where he was taken after an auto accident in Boone County. He was a truck driver for United Parcel Service and a member of Teamsters Local 100, Cincinnati.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lynn Smain Lampke; a son, David E. Lampke at home; his parents, John D. and Sue Whitton Lampke of Erlanger; and a sister, Joan L. Averdick of Villa Hills.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John Church, Covington. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to David E. Lampke Trust Fund, c/o Columbia Federal Savings Bank, 3522 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, Ky. 41018.

Earl Powell, 88, of Williamstown, died Thursday at Grant Manor Nursing Home, Williamstown.

Arrangements are pending at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth.

James Allen Roberts, 58, of Florence, died Thursday at his residence. He was a construction foreman for Coppage Construction and a member of Florence Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Joyce Webster Roberts; sons, Calvin H. Roberts and David A. Roberts, both of Florence; daughters, Kathy Jo Masters and Pamela J. Bowling, both of Florence; his mother, Clara Knight Roberts of Georgetown; a broth er, John S. Roberts of Versailles; sisters, Doris Jean Ward of Georgetown and Patsy Duncan of Lawrenceburg; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Florence Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Burial will be in Owenton IOOF Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042; or St. Elizabeth Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.

Edward C. Schmitz, of High land Heights, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. He was a retired packaging engineer and a member of St. Joseph Senior Club, Holy Name Society and Newport Elks.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Schmidt Schmitz; a son, Ronald E. Schmitz of Alexandria; a daughter, Pamela Susan Seibert of Alexandria; sisters, Margaret Klein of Highland Heights and Bettie Taylor of Fort Thomas; and two grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thom as. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Church Building Fund, 4011 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, Ky. 41076.

Earl B. Simpson, 86, of Falmouth, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. He was a retired farmer and formerly worked for the Kentucky Highway Department and Kincaid Lake State Park in Pendleton County.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Baumgartner Simpson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sat urday at Falmouth Christian Church. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Pendleton County. Memorials are suggested to Falmouth Christian Church, Main Street, Falmouth, Ky. 41040. Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth, is handling arrangements.

Jack Smith, 75, of Newport, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. He was an Army veteran of World War II. A son, Michael Smith, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine Smith; daughters, Leslie Smith of Waverly, Ohio, and Jackie Smith and Linda Smith, both of Dayton; a sister, Odessa Hemmelgran of Dayton, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Harry L. Sparks, 69, of Crestview Hills, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a self-employed manager representative and was an organ donor.

Survivors include his wife, Fern Sparks; daughters, Lisa Sparks and Susan Sparks, both of Villa Hills; and one grandson.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Memorials are suggested to Good Samaritan Hospital Heart Center, 375 Dixmyth Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45220. Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, is handling arrangements.
