Blanche A. Klotz, dairy farmer, nurse

Blanche A. Klotz, in many ways, was a woman who was ahead of her time.

She was a retired practical nurse, a farmer, and a member of St. Barbara Church, Erlanger.

For many years, Ms. Klotz and her brothers ran the family dairy farm. As the brothers drifted way, Ms. Klotz assumed more responsibility.

"She was very firm, very positive and very aggressive," said Walt Wiehoff of Independence, a brother-in-law for 60 years.

Ms. Klotz, 88, of Independence, died Monday at St. Charles Care Center in Fort Wright.

Ms. Klotz, a Kenton County native, always found time to help family and friends, Mr. Wiehoff said.

"She loved everybody and all the animals, whether they were farm animals or dogs or cats or whatever," Mr. Wiehoff said.

"She liked to play bingo. She was always willing to help anybody."

Other survivors include sisters, Bernadette Berberich of Covington, and Edna Schulte and Bertha Wiehoff, both of Independence; and a brother, Gilbert Klotz of Walton.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Barbara Church. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to St. Barbara Church, 4042 Turkeyfoot Road, Erlanger, Ky. 41018. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Virginia A. Anderson, 90, of Lexington, formerly of Covington and Ft. Mitchell, died July 7 at Hospice Care Center in Lexington. She was a former owner of Anderson Dry Cleaners, Covington. A son, Robert W. Anderson, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Annalouise Anderson Price; sisters, Marcella Wetzel of Fort Mitchell and Gertrude Dressman of Edgewood; a brother, William Knoebber of Covington; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were Friday in Lexington. Burial was in Lexington Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Blue grass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, Ky. 40504. Kerr Funeral Home, Lexington, is handling arrangements.

Carol Ann Bley, 63, of Crescent Springs, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a team truck driver with R. W. I. Transportation Co. and a former bookkeeper with Parsons Income Tax Service, Covington.

Survivors include her hus band, Robert B. Bley; sons, Michael B. Bley of Mt. Orab, Ohio, and David N. Bley of Helena, Mont.; daughters, Debra McGuire and Tina Eubank, both of Crescent Springs, and Cathy Dungan of Crittenden; a brother, Albert Runge of Cleveland; a sister, Catherine Hartley of Dayton, Ohio; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Jo seph Church, Crescent Springs. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Laura Collins, 84, of Independence, died at 5:20 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

Chambers and Grubbs Funer al Home, Independence, is han dling arrangements.

Norma J. Coomer, 51, of Taylor Mill, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a secretary with Cinergy Corp.,Cincinnati, a member of New Heart Christ Fellowship Church, Taylor Mill, and a Brighton Center volunteer.

Survivors include her husband, Dudley Coomer; a son, James Hall of Taylor Mill; a daughter, Lisa Bramel of New port; her father and stepmother, James and Alta Turner of New port; and a brother, James Turner of Elmwood Place, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

Services were Friday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Burial was in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

George J. Darwish, 73, of Cincinnati, formerly of Erlanger, died July 3 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. He was a computer operator with E. W. Buschman Conveyors, Cincinnati, and a Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Combs Darwish; sons, Joe Darwish of Tucson, Ariz., Mike Darwish of Wilder, Jeff Darwish of Alexandria, Paul Darwish of Norwood, Ohio, and Jason Dar wish and Greg Darwish, both of Cincinnati; daughters, Teri Darwish of New York City and Laurie Kunkel of Cincinnati; two sisters, a brother, and five grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial was July 6 at St. Catherine Church, Cincinnati. Burial was in St. Joseph New Cemetery, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to American Lung Association, 11113 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45242; or Father Roddy Education Scholarship Fund of St. Catherine Church, 2848 Fischer Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45211. Neidhard-Minges Funeral Home, Cincinnati, handled arrangements.

Burdetta Catherine Story Day, 78, of Augusta, died at 1 a.m. Monday at Vencor Hospital, Louisville. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Howard Daryl Day, died in 1970. A son, Allen Day, died in 1995.

Survivors include a son, Daryl Dean Day of Augusta; daughters, Deborah Alicia Day of Pahoa, Hawaii, Rhonda Gaunce of Milford, Marlene Lykins of Rectorville and Darlene Jones of Silverton, Ohio; brothers, Dale Story of Brooksville and Delmar Story of Augusta; sisters, Irene Hennessey and Ielene Kiskaden, both of Augusta, Cyrena Curtis of Williamsburg, Ohio, and Vonda Schiltz of Germantown; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Augusta. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. to day at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Augusta. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042; or the charity of the donor's choice.

Martha Ann Garriott, 56, of Carrollton, died Sunday at her home. She was a beautician.

Survivors include her husband, William Luther Welch; a daughter, Annette D. Mefford of Milton; a son, David Garriott of Carrollton; her mother, Nannie Lewellyn Welch of Edwards burg, Mich.; sisters, Imogene McMann of Edwardsburg, Mich., Lucille Schmucker of Carrollton, Sara Bontraser of Elkhart, Ind., and Frances Reed of Bonneau, S.C.; and one grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. to day and from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton.

James "Walt" Jones, 67, of Covington, died Monday at Mercy Anderson Hospital, Cincinnati.

Arrangements are pending at Jones and Simpson Funeral Home, Covington.

Kevin Allen Kaliin, 41, of Florence, died Sunday in a London, Ohio, auto accident.

Arrangements are pending at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.

Donald E. Kearns, 66, of Seminole, Fla., formerly of Covington, died Thursday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Bay Pines, Fla. He was a retired meat cutter with Freedom Square in Florida, an Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of American Legion Post No. 252, Seminole.

Survivors include a daughter, Lisa A. Viera of St. Petersburg, Fla.; brothers, Thomas Kearns of Cincinnati and J. C. Kearns of Bethlehem, Pa.; sisters, Annabelle Salmon of Ellenton, Fla., and Billie Bailey of Miami; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1:45 p.m. Thursday at Bay Pines National Cemetery, Bay Pines, Fla. Hook Funeral Home, Seminole, is handling arrangements.

Syvella Fay Miller, 88, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Florence, died Monday at Palms of Pasadena Hospital, St. Petersburg. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Burton Miller of St. Petersburg, Fla.; daughters, Janet May Bley of Irvine, Calif., and Evelyn Smith of Burlington; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.

Valentine Miller, 84, of Alexandria, died at 4 p.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. He was a retired farmer and a member of Persimmon Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include a sister, Thelma Rahe of Alexandria; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Walter O. Neale, 87, of Highland Heights, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired tool and die maker with Trailmobile, Cincinnati, and Spati Industries, Ludlow. His wife, Marie Tibbs Neale, died in 1997.

Survivors include a son, Richard Neale of Cincinnati; daughters, Carol Brun of Bellevue, Judy Huff and Linda Neises, both of Alexandria; a sister, Dolly Gerkin of Baltimore; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Evergreen cemetery Chapel, Southgate. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075. Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.

Mildred M. Hanneken Niewahner, 81, of Covington, died Monday at St. Charles Care Center, Fort Wright.

Arrangements are pending at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington.

J. T. Slusher, 68, of Florence, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence.

Survivors include sons, Birchell Slusher of Florence and Elmer Slusher of Illinois; four grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Peoples Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
