Harry Rosenbaum had way with words

Harry Burton Rosenbaum was a former telegraph operator who enjoyed writing essays.

Mr. Rosenbaum, 97, died at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Highlands of Ft. Thomas nursing home.

Mr. Rosenbaum started working for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad in the 1930s, running the telegraph in Greenup County. He married Beulah Bush and they moved to Northern Kentucky.

"At one time they lived in Ohio and he used to row across the river every night," said Mr. Rosenbaum's son, Robert L. Rosenbaum of Alexandria.

The Rosenbaums lived in Silver Grove during the 1937 Ohio River flood and lost all of their possessions in the rising water.
