Rev. Jerome Britt, 47, loved calling as priest

Rev. Jerome Charles Britt knew from the time he was a child that he wanted to be a priest.

"He was very happy in his vocation. That was the most important thing to him, " said Rev. Britt's mother, Elizabeth Britt of Fort Thomas.

Rev. Britt, 47, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Burlington, died Saturday of a heart attack. He had suffered heart problems for several years.

Rev. Britt was ordained a priest in 1982 at the age of 25.

He was associate pastor of St. Paul Church in Florence from 1982 to 1986 and associate pastor of St. Joseph Church in Crescent Springs in 1986-87. He attended graduate school at the University of Notre Dame in 1987-88.

Rev. Britt was associate pastor of St. Thomas Church in Fort Thomas from 1988 to 1992 and associate pastor of St. Agnes Church in Fort Wright from 1992 to 1995.

He was administrator of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Burlington in 1995-96 and became pastor in 1996.

He was a diocesan consultor in the Diocese of Covington and was a member of the Catholic Committee on Scouting and served as a Scout chaplain.

"He had a knack of remembering everybody's name in all the parishes he had been in, " said his mother. "The children loved him because he would call them by name. That meant so much to them.

"He had an outgoing personality and a very good sense of humor. He got along very well with people and devoted his life to the church."

Other survivors include his father, Charles Britt of Fort Thomas; a brother, Timothy Britt of Alexandria; and two sisters, Janet Weinel and Mary Britt, both of Fort Thomas.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption in Covington. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Burlington and from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption. Burial will be at Pius X cemetery in Erlanger.

Memorials may be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Building Fund, 5876 Veterans Way, Burlington, Ky. 41005, or the Priest Retirement Fund, 947 Donaldson Highway, Erlanger, Ky. 41018.

Linnemann Funeral Home of Burlington is handling arrangements.

Robert Arens, 76, of Fort Wright, died Saturday at his home.

Arrangements are pending at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger.

Margaret H. Arrasmith, 94, of Warsaw, died Friday at Gallatin County Health Care Center, Warsaw. She was a homemaker and a member of Sparta Christian Church. Her husband, Joe Dale Arrasmith, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a sister, Frances Harris of Warsaw.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will begin there at noon Wednesday. Burial will be in Warsaw Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Gallatin County Life Squad, 501 Main Cross, Warsaw, Ky. 41095.

John Albert Beil, 78, of Villa Hills, died Friday at Woodcrest Manor, Elsmere. He was a retired supervisor with Cincinnati Gas & Electric and a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Park Hills. He was a member of Good Faith Lodge No. 95, Erlanger, and the Covington Masonic Temple and was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Dorsey Beil; a daughter, Cheryl Smith of Villa Hills; a son, John Todd Beil of Aurora, Ind.; brothers, Charles William Beil of Tampa, Fla., and Donald Beil of Phoenix; and six granddaughters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Highland Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Disease Association, 644 Linn St., Suite 106, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203; or American Heart Association, 2936 Vernon Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.

David Alvin Bradford, 52, of Foster, died Friday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a carpenter and a member of Pendleton County Sportsman's Club.

Survivors include a son, Gary Bradford of Foster; sisters, Patty Johnson of Foster, Linda Youngman of Germantown and Rita Wenz of Augusta; a brother, Rob Bradford of Foster; and a grandson.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lenoxburg Cemetery, Foster. Memorials are suggested to Pendleton County Sportsman's Club, Lock Road, Butler, Ky. 41006.

Lorraine Brauch, 81, of Florence, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a secretary with the federal government and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell. Her husband, Joseph Brauch, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Brauch of Walton; daughters, Joyce Carota of Florence and Kathy Collins of Florence; sisters, Arnolda Warndorf of Erlanger and Janet Ziser of Highland Heights; and five grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Church. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky. 41042; or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 10901 Reed Hartman Highway, Suite 202, Cincinnati, Ohio 45242. Stith Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.

Audrey Brickler, 72, of Bellevue, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Ralph Brickler, died in 1999.

Survivors include sons, Dell Brickler and John Brickler, both of Dayton, and Lee Brickler of Bellevue; a sister, Beverly Sutton of Palisade, Neb.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Tuesday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to St. Luke Hospital East, 85 N. Grand Ave., Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Marilyn H. Cardosi, 73, of Park Hills, died at 10:16 a.m. Saturday at her home. She was a secretary with Northern Kentucky University.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Cardosi; daughters, Amy Ariosa of Cincinnati and Lynn Sutherland of California; sons, Thomas S. Cardosi of Park Hills and Robert A. Cardosi of Cincinnati; and 11 grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright. Visitation will begin there at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere, is handling arrangements.

Ben Chandler, 74, of Dayton, died Sunday at his home. He was a machine operator with Mead Paper Co., Oakley, Ohio, and a member of Henry Barnes Masonic Lodge No. 607 F&AM;, Dayton. He was a past master of the lodge and a past patron of Eastern Star Dora Chapter No. 2.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Chandler; sons, Benny Chandler and David Chandler, both of Jackson; daughters, Teresa Heidlage of New Richmond, Ohio, and Lisa Perkins of Dry Ridge; a sister, Elizabeth Noble of Covington; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jackson Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Earnest C. Chester, 80, of Dayton, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a disabled Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, Miriam R. Chester, died in 2003.

Survivors include daughters, Susan D. Chester of Dayton and Nancy L. Landers of Cincinnati; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at East Dayton Baptist Church, Dayton. Visitation will begin there at noon Tuesday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to East Dayton Baptist Church, 1123 Third Ave., Dayton, Ky. 41074. A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue, is handling arrangements.

Harold "Don" Chipman, 67, of Glencoe, died Friday at his home. He was a retired employee of General Motors, Cincinnati, and a member of Ten Mile Baptist Church, Glencoe.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Chipman; daughters, Donna McGinn of Fayetteville, Ga., Dina Pepper of Florence and Denise Chipman of Latonia; his mother, Hallie Slaughter of Owenton; brothers, James Chipman of Monterey and Lowell Slaughter of Florence; sisters, Beulah Combs of Harrodsburg and Rose Case of Cincinnati; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Napoleon Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Gregory A. Chisenhall, 45, of Covington, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

Arrangements are pending at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

Cordie Hensley Gibson, 87, of Latonia, died Friday at Highland Heights Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was a retired waitress. Her husband, Otis Gibson, preceded her in death.

Survivors include grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Samuel Michael Hilterbrand, 48, of Maysville, died at 1:22 a.m. Saturday at University Medical Center, Lexington, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

He attended Maysville Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his mother, Mildred V. Hilterbrand of Maysville; brothers, Ronnie D. Hilterbrand, John C. Hilterbrand, Scotty D. Hilterbrand and Danny L. Hilterbrand, all of Maysville, and Kenneth R. Hilterbrand of West Union, Ohio; sisters, Brenda J. Back of Muses Mills, Jeanne Burton of Manchester, Ohio, and Kathryn Purcell of Georgetown; and stepsisters, Anna L. Roush of Lynchburg, Ohio, and Margaret Dunn of Maysville.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will begin there at 6 tonight. Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery.

Allie Keene, 89, of Northern Kentucky, died Sunday at Hospice of Cincinnati.

Arrangements are pending at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill.

Beulah Moore, 70, of Latonia, died at 7:38 p.m. Friday at her home. She was a homemaker. A son, John Finley, died in 2001.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Moore; a son, Dennis Finley of Park Hills; daughters, Janice Roberts of Independence and Nicki Johnson of Alexandria; brothers, Albert Sandelin of Taylor Mill and Everett Sandelin of Alexandria; sisters, Ruby Stamper of Southgate and Maxine Sebastian of Independence; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.

William David Nelson, 47, of Ludlow, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.

He was a field supervisor with Jansen & Son Insulation, Erlanger.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Nelson; sons, Joshua Clark and Trenton Clark, both of Cincinnati; daughters, Petrina Gentry of Cincinnati, Melanie Nelson and Jessica Nelson, both of Ludlow; his mother, Betty Puchta of Covington; brothers, Carl Puchta, Steven Snell and Timothy Snell, all of Covington; a sister, Sandra Edwards of Covington; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Rollie "One-Eyed Jack" Sheriff, 77, of Butler, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired machine operator with Ford Motor Co. and a member of Latonia Masonic Lodge No. 746, the Scottish Rite and the Campbell County CB Club.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Sheriff; sons, Rollie Sheriff III and Wesley Sheriff of Sacramento, Calif.; daughters, Linda Ball of Benton, La., JoEllen Sheriff and Paula Ann Sheriff, both of Sacramento; a stepdaughter, Rose Anna Camden of Williamsburg; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Helen Mae Smith, 59, of Melbourne, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

She was a homemaker and a member of Fairlane Baptist Church, Alexandria.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Smith; daughters, Malisa Enzweiler of Silver Grove, Sheila Warner of California and Beth Guy of Alexandria; a son, Monte Smith of Butler; sisters, Irene Roseberry of Grants Lick, Ruth Campbell of Zephyrhills, Fla., Francis Ramsey of Falmouth, Lucille Barnhill of Melbourne and Fay Bennett of Silver Grove; brothers, Ralph Meenach and George Meenach, both of Taylor Mill, Ray Meenach and Barlow Meenach, both of Cincinnati; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Christian cemetery Chapel, Lenoxburg.

Ruby Webster, 82, of Latonia, died at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.

She was a homemaker and a member of Latonia Baptist Church.

Her husband, Glenn Webster, died in 1986.

Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Patton of Latonia; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glencoe Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Latonia Baptist Church Building Fund, 3800 Church St., Covington, Ky. 41015.
