Murray
Vernon Woodrow Murray, 29, of 5555 Auburn Ave., Sciotoville, died Thursday at a Lexington, Ky., hospital.
A Portsmouth native and Navy veteran, he was a boiler operator at Mercy Hospital.
Surviving are his parents, Virgil and Myrtle Logan Murray of 1747 Seventh St.; three brothers, James L., Allen W. and William D. all of the Seventh St. address; two sisters, Carol Olive and Jane Murray, both of Lexington, and a stepgrandmother, Irene Murray of Maloneton, Ky.
Memorial services are planned at 2 p.m. Saturday at Roberson Funeral Home at South Shore, Ky., with Rev. Sam Fillmore officiating and burial in the Murray family cemetery at Maloneton.
No visitation is planned.
The family’s favorite charity is the American Cancer Society.

Thelma Murphy, 82, Flatwoods resident
Thelma Irene Miller Murphy, 82, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 1995, at a Russell, Ky., hospital.
She was born May 11, 1912, in Greenup County, Ky., a daughter of the late Daniel Helt and Julia Ann Logan Miller.
Surviving are two sons, Harold E. Murphy of Portsmouth and Roy Murphy of Flatwoods; two daughters, Thelma Frisby of Wurtland, Ky., and Barbara Joyce Brown of South Shore, Ky.; four sisters, Audrey Bradley of Wurtland, Donna Brown of Worthington, Ky., Bessie Baker of Greenup, Ky., and Ernie Fields of Michigan; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Ann Hiederman; and two sons, Larry Dale Howland and Edward D. Murphy.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, with the Rev. Richard Wright officiating, and interment in Hale-Miller cemetery at Lynn, Ky.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the services Saturday.

Portsmouth Times, 18 Jan. 1939
Henry Musick
Henry Musick, 87, native of Morgan Co., Ky, passed away at 7.20 p. m. Tuesday at the home of a son, James Musick, of near Richmondale. He had been ill the last two weeks of influenza.
Mr. Musick was born March 3, 1851, a son of Mrs. And Mrs. James Musick. He was a farmer and was a member of the Christian Church of Greenup county, Ky. His wife, Mrs. Julia Musick died 33 years ago.
Besides his son at whose home he died, Mrs. Musick is survived by these other children. Mrs. Nerva Cochenour of Iowa, Mrs. Verna Kegley of Tygart Valley, Mrs. Laurabelle Felty, Mrs. Nancy Markham of Portsmouth, Mrs. Rosie Roush of Chillicothe route 6, Charles Musick, address unknown, John Musick of Brushart, Ky and Jubal Musick of Harold, Ky.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 Thursday at Emrick’s funeral home with Rev. W. C. Burris of Central Christian church in charge. Burial will be in Thomas cemetery at Rexton, Ky. The body is at the funeral home.

Portsmouth Times, Monday, Mar. 9, 1964
Mrs. Juble Musick
Greenup, Ky. – Mrs. Ida Musick, 73, died at 2:30 a.m. today at her residence at Westwood near Russell.
Born in Pike County, Ky., Sept. 13, 1890, she was a daughter of George and Zelpha Tackett Osborne.
Surviving are her husband, Juble Musick; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Egerton of River Rouge, Mich., and Mrs. Bessie Cecil of Wayandotte, Mich.; a brother, George (Pete) Osborne of Hartley, Ky.; a half-brother, Grover of Dorton, Ky.; a sister Mrs. Mary Hall of Ashland, Ky.; a half-sister, Mrs. Lizzie Tackett of Virgie, Ky.; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Little Jewell Regular Baptist Church.
Funeral arrangements are under direction of Riggs Funeral Home.

Jubel Musick
Jubel Musick, 80, former resident of Portsmouth and Ashland, Ky., died Monday night in Okechobee, Fla.
He was a resident of Okechobee.
Among survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Charles Felty, 2125 Argonne Rd., Mrs. Charles Markham, 3107 Walnut St., and Mrs. Verna Kegley of Maloneton, Ky.
Miller Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Charley Musick
Word has been received by relatives here of the death of Mrs. Lella Musick, wife of Charley Musick of Farmington, Ia., a former Portsmouth resident.
Local survivors include Mrs. Charles Markham and Mrs. Charles Felty of Portsmouth, sisters of Mr. Musick and John Musick of Portsmouth, brother of Mr. Musick. Mrs. Musick is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews in the Portsmouth community.

Vina Logan
Vina Logan, 91, of Nitro, W. Va., Formerly of Sciotoville, died Wednesday, February 24 at a St. Albans, W. Va., nursing home after a long illness.
She was a native of Greenup Count, Ky. Her husband Samuel Vernon Logan, died in 1972.
Surviving are a daughter, Julia Braunlin of Nitro; a son Samuel of Elyria; a sister, Mrs. Martha Newman of Port Clinton; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 8:30 p.m. Friday, February 26, at Casdorph-Curry Funeral Home in St. Albans. Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 27 in Memorial Burial Park at Wheelersburg.

VIRDEST LOGAN, passed away August 14, 1981, in the Hancock Co., Memorial Hospital, Greenfield, Ind. He was born Nov. 28, 1915 in Lewis County, Ky., the son of the late Robert and Mary Logan. He is survived by his wife, Mr. Lillie Duncan Logan, Carthage, Ind. One son, Frank Logan, Laurel, Ind. Four Daughters, Mrs. Bernice Cook, of Knightstown, Ind. Mrs. Bernida Cook, Dunreth, Ind. Miss Dorthy and Miss Pansy Logan both of Carthage, Ind. One bro. Bengie Logan, RRT.4, Olive Hill, Ky. Three Sisters, Mrs. Thelma Conley and Mrs. Nola Spence Carthage, Ind, Mrs. Leice Conley, Shirley, Ind. Seven grandchildren. He was a sawmill operator and farmer.

Walter D. Logan, 86
Walter D. Logan, 86, of Buffalo, MO, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Home.
He was born Sept. 2, 1913, in Greenup, Ky., a son of the late Abraham and Nettie Ocie Logan. He was a member of the Stony Run Baptist Church.
Surviving are three sons, William Logan and Doyle Logan, both of Buffalo, and Frank Logan of Copan, Okla.; two daughters, Carolyn McKnight of Wildomar, Calif., and Marilyn Hoskinson of Willard, MO; one sister, Elsie Humble of Wheelersburg; one brother, Wilmer Logan of Wheelersburg; 15 granchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Srpingfield, Mo. Internment was in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Wayne Logan, 58, of Columbus, former resident of Portsmouth, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999, at a Columbus hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chip and Ada Clark Logan; and a sister, Bonnie.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Logan; a daughter, Mrs. Don (Kris) Murnane; two sisters, Dorothy Sheppard and Betty Crisp, both of Spanaway, Wash.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Rutherford Funeral Home, 2383 North High St., Columbus, with Pastor Gene Speich officiating, with private interment at Portsmouth.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions my be made to the Central Ohio Breathing Association; 1520 Old Henderson Road, Columbus, Ohio 43220.

Wilda Jean Logan, 69, of Stout, Ohio, died at her home Saturday, March 23, 2002. Wilda was born April 30, 1932, in New Boston, to the late Charles sand Bertha Lavone Viors Harding. She had worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Southern Ohio Medical Center.
Wilda is survived by a very special loved one Donald Moore; two sons, James (Beverly) F. Logan of Stout and Gary (Connie) R. Logan of Peebles; four grandchildren, Jamie Logan of Stout, Sharma Logan of Huntington, W.Va., Angela (John III) Bentley of Waverly, and Joshua Long (sic., Logan) of Peebles; four great-grandchildren, Brittany Logan, Dalton Bentley, Taylor Bentley and Payton Bentley; a nephew Casey Stamper; and also another loved one Barbara Stacy.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with Don Ellis officiating, and interment in Friendship Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service Tuesday.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2002, at Chapman's Mortuary, 2851 Third Ave., Huntington, WV, with Pastor David Tuinstra officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, OH.
She was born October, 13, 1939 in Portsmouth, OH, a daughter of the late Curtiss and Edythe M. Gleim Wooten. She was a member of First Baptist Church of South Point. Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brian Scott Nease of South Point and Dr. D. Blaine Nease and Sheila Nease of Portsmouth; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Hope Wooten of Huntington; four grandchildren, Christina Nease, Scotty Nease, Garrett Nease and Zoe Nease; a great-grandson A. J. Nease; and three nieces, Kim Cooper of Macon, GA, Lori Petty of Peach Tree City, GA, and Lisa Steadham of Forest Park, GA.

Janice F. Nichols, 61, of Wheelersburg, died Sunday, December 22, 2002 at the Southern Ohio Medical Center.
She was born April 7, 1941, in New Boston, the daughter of Lillian Anita (Logan) and the late Walter Carl Lytten. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Carlene Nichols.
Surviving are her husband, Arnold "Ed" Nichols, whom she married August 16, 1963, in New Boston; one son, Nicky (Linda) Nichols of Wheelersburg; one daughter, Luanne (Steve) Valentine of Wheelersburg; two stepsons, Arnold "Bo" (Dolly) Cole of West Portsmouth and William (Kristy) Nichols of Portsmouth; three brothers, John (Ora) Lytten and Walter "Butch" (Mary) Lytten, all of New Boston, and Paul Randy (Cheryl) Lytten of Portsmouth; one sister, Lilia (Chip) Phillips of Atlanta, GA; a special grandson, Jeremy; four grandchildren, Ian Mychael, Derek and Kayse; seven stepgrandchildren, Michael, Amanda, Amy, Tami, Kayla, Billy and Allison; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville with the Rev. Joe VanMeter officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p. m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a. m. Friday.
