J.W. Abner, 67, of 319 North Main St. No. 4, died at 8:20 p.m. Sunday at his home. A native of Clark County, he was the son of late Frank and Druscilla Oliver Abner Carmichael. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church. Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Betty Abner, Winchester; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Verscilla and Bobby Carmichael, Winchester, and Odella Harrison, Elizabethtown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Scobee Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The guestbook is available at Scobee Funeral Home.
Jackie Lynn 'Stormo' Abney
Jackie Lynn Abney was called home by our Heavenly Father on Friday, the 13th of February, 2004 at around noon. Jackie, a long time resident of Bloomfield, had fought a long hard battle with cancer, and for those who knew her, never backed up in trying to find a cure for it. Born February 17th, 1953 in Torrance, California, to Robert E. and Lila M. Stormo, she was the 4th child of the marriage, and the only girl. Both parents have since passed as well as one brother, Jimmy Ray Stormo, in 1977. Jackie has two other brothers, Robert E. (Butch) Stormo, Jr. of Los Angeles, California; and William B. (Billy) Stormo of Bullhead City, Arizona; and her aunt, Strubie Felton or Ortenville, Minnesota. Jackie was blessed with three children with her husband, Russell Abney of Bloomfield, her daughters, Kari Herrea of Phoenix, Arizona; Rayell Davila of Sasuin, California; and Tanya Lackey of Amarillo, Texas, but the biggest blessing came during her cancer years when her daughters, Kari and Rayell, blessed her with grandchildren. Kari gave her Tyler Joby and Rayell gave her Tiffany Jacklyn. These two blessings kept her going in the hard years and it gave her the need to go on. Jackie had worked for Target, receiving many company honors during her years and was focused on moving ahead with her career when she was stuck with cancer in June of 1999. While working in the California stores, prior to her transfer to the store in Farmington, Jackie was responsible for all back room inventory and stocking at which she excelled, receiving the companies highest honors, and was moved from store to store to train others in the company on motivation and scheduling; this all while maintaining her family and continuing to educate herself for advanced duties within Target. Jackie had been highly involved in the sports programs in Bloomfield during her childrens younger years with softball, coaching several teams, with one going to the Nationals in Eden, Oklahoma in the mid 1980s. With this involvement, both of her daughters achieved high honors in sports, with Kari going on to NCAA duties at the University of Mississippi (Old Miss) and setting a standard for the future of our family to follow. Rayell backed it up with batting honors in the Mid-California area during her high school years. Jackie had a great love of life. She shall be missed greatly be all that knew her, but she is at peace now with our Heavenly Father, as she looks after her family and gives strength to her husband of 32 years, to go on. In life, few of us will ever meet a more loving person, or a better friend. Funeral services will be handled by Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, with viewing to be at their chapel on 103 East Ute Street, Farmington, New Mexico, on Monday the 16th of February, 2004, between 2:00 and 7:00 p.m., with church services to be held at the Bloomfield Baptist Church chapel at 10:00 a.m., on her birthday, February 17th, 2004. Pastor Joe Bunce will officiate Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home Farmington, New Mexico.

Jack Abner
Jack Abner Kentucky - Valparaiso, IN Jack Abner, age 82, of Hartford, KY, formerly of Valparaiso and Hobart, IN passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Wilda; two sons, Dan (Sheila) Abner of Hartford, KY and Terry (Deanna) Abner of Valparaiso, IN, five grandchildren; and 24 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Nicey Abner and six brothers and one sister. Jack was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Beaver Dam, KY and he served in the U.S. Army in the 83rd Infantry Division and was awarded the American Theatre Ribbon, WWII Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with five Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 7, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at the Duke Bevil Brothers Funeral Home, 301 Liberty St., Hartford, Kentucky, with burial to follow. James L. Abner
ABNER, JAMES L. - age 75, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2006 at his home in Lake City. He was born April 2, 1931 in Beech Grove to the late James E. "Edd" & Hattie Harrell Abner. He was of the Baptist faith, and was a U.S. Marine Veteran, having served in Korea. James loved and enjoyed raising flowers, with the iris and daylily being his specialty. He also enjoyed taking his beloved dog, Bo, for his daily walks at the Norris Dam area, where he met and enjoyed his numerous friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: his sister, Anna L. Abner; and brother, C. Frank Abner. Survivors: sister, who cared for him during his long illness, Betty Ward, & husband, Ernest F. Ward of Knoxville, TN; brother, Ralph & wife Betty Jo Abner, Newark, Delaware; sister-in-law, Barbara Abner, Lake City, TN; several nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. James was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Visitation: 6-8 pm Friday, June 16, 2006 at the Hatmaker Funeral Home. Graveside service 10 am Saturday, June 17, 2006 at the Leach cemetery in Lake City, TN with Rev. Tom Byrge officiating. The family would like to thank Dr. John T. Foust and Dr. Kenneth Luckmann, and the nurses at Covenant Health Hospice for their loving care given to James during his illness. He was a member of the Greater Columbia Association of Realtor's Commercial Alliance, Lifetime member of Columbia Circle of Excellence, member of the Midlands Striper Club, Ducks Unlimited, and the National Wild Turkey Federation. He is survived by his wife, Kim Hagen Abney of Leesville; a daughter, Miriam Abney of Charleston; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Joseph (Jennie) of Columbia, and Jason Joseph (Stephanie) of Simpsonville; grandchildren, Nicholas, Samantha and Andrew Bodnar, Matthew Joseph, Wells Smith, Noah and Ryan Joseph; and half brother, Jack Abney of Greenville. He is preceded in death by his sister, Susie Bess Abney.
