Alma Nina Knoebber, 'loved cultural things'

Alma Nina Knoebber loved going to museums, symphonies, operas and cultural festivals in Cincinnati with her family.

"My mom loved cultural things, " her daughter, Joyce Knoebber, said.

She and her daughter would pool their money together to attend piano concerts at Xavier University, symphonies and occasionally an opera.

Mrs. Knoebber, 90, of Kenton Vale, died Saturday at Florence Park Care Center, Florence.

She also enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge and euchre. She and her husband, William T. Knoebber, who preceded her in death in May, belonged to a monthly bridge club.

She also belonged to the Baker-Hunt 620 Women's Club, where she was a founding member at the age of 18 and a past president. The club members would get together to paint, play cards and discuss current events.

They also contributed to charities during the holidays.

"Mom was very outgoing, " her daughter said. "She had a lot of friends. She had a great smile and everybody really seemed to enjoy being with her."

One of her greatest achievements was obtaining her high school GED at 52.

Her daughter said she took the test at a time when GED courses weren't offered, but she passed with a high score.

"She always wished she had completed high school, " she said. "She always wanted to go back."

She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Cross Church, Latonia, and St. Helen's Society.

In addition to her daughter, survivors include a son, Ted Knoebber of Newport; daughter Sue Hust of Elsmere; and five grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Friday at Holy Cross Church, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Church, 3612 Church St., Latonia, Ky. 41015. Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling the arrangements.

Claire E. Abramis, 75, of Bellevue, died Sunday at Highlands of Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include sons, Mel Abramis of Cold Spring, Tim Abramis of Bellevue, Larry Abramis of Fairfield, Ohio, and Ted Abramis of Newport; a daughter, Diane Ervin of Fort Thomas; brothers, Earl Liedhegner of Cincinnati and Bill Liedhegner of Mason, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Divine Mercy Parish, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, in memory of Claire E. Abramis, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, Va. 22038; or Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Wanda Partin Anderson, 61, of Corinth, died Sunday at her residence. She was a homemaker and a member of Williamstown Pentecostal Holiness Church. Her husband, Walter Anderson, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her father, Jason L. Partin Sr., of Williamstown; brothers, Everette W. Partin of Corinth, Robert Partin of Stamping Ground, Richard B. Partin of Piner, and David Partin of Newport; sisters, Linda Roberts of Glencoe and Janie Bailey of Owenton.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Williamstown Pentecostal Holiness Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Goins Cemetery, Whitley County. Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown, is handling the arrangements.

Leann Banks, 89, of Florence, died Monday at Woodspoint Health Care Center, Florence.

She was a homemaker and a member of Walton Church of God. Her husband, William Elijah McDaniel, preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Arthur McDaniel and John McDaniel, both of Union, James McDaniel of Belleview, Steve McDaniel and Russell McDaniel, both of Florence, Wayne McDaniel and Joe McDaniel, both of Walton; daughters, Frances Stewart of Hamilton, Ohio, Angie Lainhart of Laverne, Tenn., Lillie Mae Mallicoat of Gallatin County, Susie Holton of Okeana, Ohio, and Jean Vance of Florence; a sister, Nora Nickolas of Paris, Tenn.; stepbrothers, Everette Allen of Scottsburg, Ind., Tom Allan and Lloyd Allan, both of Indiana; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Burlington.

Harriet Martina Ingles Courtney, 94, of Butler, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

She was a homemaker and a member of Turner Ridge Baptist Church, Pendleton County.

Her husband, Hubert Courtney, preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Jewell Schwartz and Linda Webster, both of Butler, and Shirley Hacker of Independence; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Moore & Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Downard Cemetery, Foster. Memorials are suggested to Flour Creek Christian Church, 1109 Kentucky Highway 177 E., Butler, Ky. 41006.

Clarence H. "Corky" Farrell, 56, of Dayton, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a bus driver with TANK and a member of the Dayton Eagles.

Survivors include sons, Jamie Farrell of Dayton and Mike Farrell of Newport; a daughter, Kathy Farrell of Boone County; brothers, Joe Farrell of Portland, Ore., Gene Farrell of Taylor Mill, and Stanley Farrell of Florence; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Hildreth French, 72, of Covington, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.

Arrangements are pending with Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.

Dora M. Hurst, 75, of Walton, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a member of Violet Ridge Church of Christ, Crittenden. Her husband, John Hurst Jr., and sons, Charles Hurst, Dewey Hurst, and Johnny Lloyd Hurst, preceded her in death.

Survivors include Rev. Danny Hurst of Warsaw; a daughter, Elizabeth Wyrick of Taylor Mill; a brother, Elmer West Polly of Loveland, Ohio; a sister, Dorothy Norviel of Corbin; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Swindler & Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Violet Ridge Church of Christ, 1000 Violet Road, Crittenden, Ky. 41030.

Gladys C. Kessler, 88, of Florence, died Sunday at Woodspoint Health Care Center, Florence.

She was a retired cook from Walt's Hitching Post.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Paula Melton of Covington, and a great-granddaughter, Margo Melton of Covington.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mother of God cemetery Chapel, Fort Wright. There is no visitation. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Don Catchen & Son Funeral Home, Covington, is handling the arrangements.

Anne Elizabeth Kleinschmidt, 52, of Falmouth, died Sunday at her residence.

She was a minister of the Disciples of Christ Christian Church and a member of the Rotary Club.

Survivors include her husband, John R. Kleinschmidt Jr.; sons, John R. Kleinschmidt, III, and Thomas Kleinschmidt of Falmouth; a daughter, Kara Kleinschmidt of Lexington; her mother, Judith Hoffmann of Danville, Ind.; brothers, Thomas Leyden Hoffmann of Indianapolis, Ind., and John Malone Hoffmann of Strasburg, Va.; and a sister, Barbara Quandt of Danville, Ind.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Falmouth Christian Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Gregory Arlis Lyon, 45, of Taylor Mill, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

He was a diesel mechanic with McD Concrete, Silver Grove, and a member of First Church of Christ, Burlington, and Taylor Mill Recreation.

Survivors include his wife, Robbyn Martin Lyon; sons, Jared Lyon and Adam Lyon, both of Taylor Mill; daughters, Olivia Lyon of Taylor Mill and Allison Lyon of Lexington; his mother, Marjorie Lyon of Taylor Mill; and brothers, Joe Lyon of Ludlow and Mark Lyon of Taylor Mill.

Services will be at 7:30 p.m. today at First Church of Christ, Burlington. cemetery chapel committal service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill. Clarence Manning, 85, of Wilder, died Sunday at his residence.

He was a retired truck driver and an Army veteran of World War II.

His wife, Viola Manning, preceded him in death.

Survivors include a son, Richard Manning of Franklin, Ohio; a daughter, Wanda Whitford of Cold Spring; brothers, Ray Manning of Alexandria and Hubert Manning Jr., of Lexington; a sister, Bonnie Hasty of Cincinnati; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Cold Spring. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to New Hope United Methodist Church, 22 William Blatt Ave., Southgate, Ky. 41071.

Harold Keith Markins, 69, of Fort Mitchell, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

He was a retired police officer for Huntington, W.Va., and Richmond, Va., and a deputy officer for Cincinnati.

He was also an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion, Lexington.

His son, Keith Markins Jr., and a daughter, Sharon Maret, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah Markins of Fort Mitchell; a daughter, Sheila Vance of Florence; a sister, Dorothy Camper of Cincinnati; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Garnet E. Michaels, 98, of Fort Thomas, died Saturday at her residence.

She was the co-owner of Michael's Printing, Newport, and a former manager of Klosterman's Bakery, Cincinnati.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ the Scientist, Boston, Mass. Her husband, Kenneth W. Michaels, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a cousin, Janine Walz of Fort Thomas.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen cemetery Chapel, Southgate. There is no visitation. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to Newport High School, 900 E. Sixth St., Newport, Ky. 41071. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling the arrangements.

Amy J. Ramsey, 42, of Covington, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Larry W. Ramsey; a son, Johnathan Ramsey of Covington; a daughter, Nicole Ramsey of Covington; her parents Paul and Joan Carroll of Dayton; and brothers, Tony Carroll of Dry Ridge, David Carroll of Wilder, and Greg Carroll of Bradenton, Fla.

Louise F. Reinzan, 97, of Florence, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Church, Florence. Her husband, Harry P. Reinzan, and a son, Walter "Bud" Reinzan, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Rose Qualantone of Ohio; 11 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Edward N. Robinson, 64, of Ludlow, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

He was a machine operator with Fidelity Investments, a member of Carpenters Union Local No. 703, the Scottish Rite and Shriners, and an Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Jan Robinson; a son, George Robinson of Ludlow; a daughter, Rebecca Hewitt of Ludlow; brothers, Robert Robinson of Florida and Harry Robinson of Fort Thomas; a sister, Brenda Penny of Indiana; and four grandchildren.

Viola B. Webster Steinhauer, 82, of Madison, Ind., formerly of Covington, died Friday at King's Daughter's Hospital, Madison, Ind.

She was a retired assembler from Grote Manufacturing and a member of North United Methodist Church and the Grote Quarter Century Club.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard G. Steinhauer; a son, Wesley Steinhauer of Paris Crossing, Ind.; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morgan-Webster-May Funeral Home, Madison, Ind. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Madison, Ind. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association, 61 Broadway, New York, N.Y. 10006.

Della Christine Tungate, 93, of Independence, died Monday at Regency Manor Care Center, Independence.

Arrangements are pending with Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence.

Walter Whitehead Jr., 57, of Bradenton, Fla., died Dec. 3 in Sarasota, Fla.

He was a retired AAA employee and an Army veteran.

Survivors include a son, Stephen Buckler of South Carolina; his mother, Mary Nell Roberts Whitehead Walker; brothers, LeRoy Roberts, Jimmy Whitehead, and John Walker, all of Cynthiana, and Carl Walker of Bourbon County; sisters, Nellie Gibson of Bradenton, Fla., and Wendy Bailey of Louisville; and one grandchild.
