Mike Kinsella, 62, architect, history buff and avid golfer

Mike Kinsella was an architect who designed Campbell County library buildings.

"He worked with design teams on many projects, but he designed the libraries by himself and he took a lot of pride in those buildings, " said his wife of 24 years, Sherry Sorrell Kinsella.

Mr. Kinsella, 62, of Edgewood, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood after suffering a massive stroke.

He served in the Army in Vietnam and afterward studied at the University of Cincinnati to be an architect. He worked with local architectural firms for about 15 years and was a self-employed architect the past 15 years.

He helped design Nunn Hall at Northern Kentucky University, Five Seasons Country Club in Edgewood and numerous office buildings.

Mr. Kinsella's grandfather was an architect who helped design the Kentucky governor's mansion in Frankfort, and his father was an engineer.

"He was a big history buff, and old architecture always interested him, " said his wife.

Mr. Kinsella, an avid golfer, had an easy-going demeanor.

"He was always sort of laid-back and quiet, " said his wife. "He had a quiet sense of humor and wit. He was a gentle, good guy."

Other survivors include a son, Ron Arnsperger of Florence; daughters, Robin Selzer of Cincinnati and Beth Kinsella of Edgewood; a brother, Pete Kinsella of Plano, Texas; a sister, Mary White of Tampa, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Church, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Memorials are suggested to the Campbell County Public Library, 3920 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, Ky. 41076.

Kenneth Lee Bentle, 90, of Falmouth, died Wednesday at his home. He was a teacher, farmer, Texaco Oil distributor and retired claims manager with the Kentucky Farm Bureau, a deacon with Falmouth Christian Church and a member of the Kincaid Lake State Park Association and Orion Lodge No. 222 F&AM;, Falmouth. His first wife, Ruth Conrad Bentle, and a son, Kenneth Bentle, both preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Bentle; daughters, Kay Bruens of Lexington and Betty Lou Shelton of Williamstown; a sister, Carmen Russell of Springfield, Ohio; brothers, Harold Bentle of Bellefonte, Pa., Vernon Bentle of Bracken County, Leland Bentle of Union and Omer Bentle of Falmouth; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Mary Stanley Beach, 93, of Dry Ridge, died Wednesday at Grant Manor Health Care Center, Williamstown. She was an elementary school teacher at Dry Ridge Elementary, Sipple and Blackburn schools, a former secretary with Crouch Lumber Co. and a member of Dry Ridge Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Harrison Beach; sons, Garry Beach of Lexington and Larry Wayne Beach of Deland, Fla.; a sister, Beulah Biddison of Fremont, Wis.; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Memorials are suggested to Dry Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund, 19 Broadway, Dry Ridge, Ky. 41035.

Barry W. Fornash, 45, of Owenton, died Wednesday at his home. He was a horse trainer and a member of Sparta Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Grimes Fornash; sons, Casey Fornash of Sanders and Kayne Fornash of Burlington; a daughter, Shaina Fornash of Sanders; his parents, Don and Donna Pruett Fornash; a brother, Pat Fornash of Verona; and a sister, Pam Burgess of Madison, Ind.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lawrence Family Cemetery, Sparta.

Cecil Hughes, 86, of Cynthiana, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a farmer, a member of First Church of God in Cynthiana and an Army veteran of World War II. A son, William Ronnie Plummer, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Phumphrey Hughes; a brother, Jay Plummer Johnson of Angel Ridge; a sister, Ruth Keith of Angel Ridge; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Spurlin Funeral Home, Stanford. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Sims Cemetery, Stanford. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Disease Association, 644 Linn St., Suite 1026, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203.

Marilyn Sue Jusbasic, 67, of Newport, died Thursday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home, Fort Thomas. She was a retired employee of AT&T.;

Survivors include her husband, James Jusbasic; a son, James Allen Jusbasic of Fort Thomas; and a granddaughter.

Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Saturday. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

Virginia P. LaFata, 87, of Bromley, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a seamstress with Lewis Silverman and a former member of Ludlow Hobo Club and Ludlow Senior Citizens. Her husband, Walther LaFata, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her caregiver, Betty Dunaway of Villa Hills.

Services will be at noon Monday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Howard Augusta Link, 93, of Covington, died at 4:10 a.m. Thursday at Woodspoint Health Care Center, Florence. He was a retired painter with St. Elizabeth Medical Centers and a deacon of Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Covington. His wife, Faye Link, died in 2002.

Survivors include daughters, Brenda Adkins of Versailles and Patti Moore of Atlanta; sons, Jerry Link of Walton and H.A. Link Jr. of Villa Hills; a sister, Mendola Lightner of Florence; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at McDaniel Funeral Home, Corinth. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery. Betty B. Scott Nordmeyer, 81, of Florence, died at 9:03 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Richard A. Nordmeyer, died in 1993.

Survivors include a son, Rick Nordmeyer of Florence; daughters, Elizabeth Simmins of Highland Heights and Carole Mills of Burlington; sisters, Dixie Kauffman of Cincinnati, Frances Kersting of Covington, Charolette Stieritz of Fort Thomas and Joan Gustin of Fort Thomas; and brothers, Bill Scott of Florence, Roy Scott of Erlanger and Martin Scott of Cincinnati.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. John Church, Covington. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 105 W. Fourth St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45202.

Joseph R. Phister Jr., 53, of Fort Thomas, died Monday at his home. He was a factory worker with Newport Steel.

Survivors include a sister, Ann Cook of Ponte Verda Beach, Fla.; nieces and nephews.

Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.

John Polanski, 73, of Falmouth, died Thursday at his home. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include a son, Alan Polanski of New Jersey; daughters, Mindy Miller of Mason, Ohio, Jennie Tate and Shelia Polanski, both of Falmouth, and Cindy Mejias of Dayton, N.J.; sisters, Marie Spognatz, Rose Bernas and Helen Kanda, all of New Jersey; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at noon Monday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.

Joe Rose, 24, of Owenton, died Tuesday at his home. He was a tree trimmer.

Survivors include a daughter, Courtney Jo Rose; his parents, Charles and Wanda Hearn Rose, of Owenton; a brother, Steven Rose of Owenton; and grandparents, James Hearn of Owenton and Betty Hearn of Carlisle.

Earl "Bud" Shannon, 88, of Lakeside Park, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was an engineering associate with Cincinnati Bell, a member of Telephone Pioneers and American Legion Post No. 20 in Erlanger, and an Army veteran of World War II. A daughter, Patricia Shannon, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Shannon; a sister, Thelma Hanners of Dayton, nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mary Queen of Heaven Church, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Vivian Derrick Swagler, 84, of Edgewood, died Wednesday at Brighton Gardens, Edgewood. She was a retired supervisor with Fifth Third Bank, Cincinnati, and a member of St. Bernard Church in Dayton and the Fort Wright Civic Center Seniors. She was a former member of Corpus Christi Church, Newport. Her first husband, Irvin Derrick, died in 1976. Her second husband, Howard Swagler, died in 1999.

Survivors include daughters, Carol Cahill of Edgewood and Patricia Farwell of Florence; seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to American Lung Association, 1636 Nicholasville Road, Lexington, Ky. 40503; or American Heart Association, 2936 Vernon Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219. Louella A. Wathen, 60, of Edgewood, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a homemaker. A daughter, Kathy Vieth, died in 1990.

Survivors include her husband, R.C. Wathen; a son, Thomas Wathen of Covington; a daughter, Lona C. Eckler of Edgewood; her mother, Lona Turner of Covington; a brother, Paul Turner Jr. of Covington; a sister, Shirley Sharp of Covington; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere. Visitation will begin there at 8 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.

Cathy M. Weckenbrock, 45, of Edgewood, died on Wednesday at her residence in an accident. She was owner of Cathy's By Design embroidery business and an executive secretary Fireman's Fund Insurance Co., and a former lab technician at Booth Hospital and St. Luke West Hospital in Florence. She was a member of St. Pius X Parish in Edgewood, and a member of the parish council.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Gregory P. Weckenbrock; daughters, Emily N. Weckenbrock, a student at the University of Kentucky, Colleen E. Weckenbrock and Ellen M. Weckenbrock, both at home; a son, Kyle G. Weckenbrock, at home; her parents, Donald and Alice Yates Williams of Erlanger; and sisters, Teresa Colvin of Chicago, Donita Wade of Erlanger and Karen Scott of Union.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Pius X Church, Edgewood. A reception in the church undercroft will follow Mass. Visitation will begin there at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Nancy Elizabeth "Liz" Wright, 60, of Butler, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

Survivors include her husband, Roland Wright; sons, Bill Wright of Butler, Lonnie Wright of Falmouth and Tony Wright of Butler; a daughter, Melissa Winkle of Butler; sisters, Donna Henry of Mount Auburn and Pat McClure of Baxley, Ga.; brothers, David Anderson of Burlington, Robert Anderson of Florida, Steve Anderson of the state of Washington, Jimmy Anderson of Prestonberg and Tom Anderson of Falmouth; and 11 grandchildren.
