Gary Robertson, liked reading, family events

Gary James Robertson enjoyed being around people and reading.

"He was very outgoing and enjoyed being around people, " said Mr. Robertson's wife, Joyce Robertson. "He enjoyed family things and was very family-oriented.

"He enjoyed reading, and he read a lot. He especially liked mysteries. We also enjoyed dining out."

Mr. Robertson, 68, of Newport, a retired real estate agent, died Friday at his home. He had previously worked in sales and as an engineer.

Mr. Robertson "did many different things" during his career, said his wife.

"He was in sales for most of his years, " she said. "He went into real estate and sold businesses."

Mr. Robertson had been diagnosed with cancer last year, but had been able to cope with it until a couple of weeks ago, his wife said.

Other survivors include a son, David Robertson of Baltimore, Md; a daughter, Kristi Leighton of Richmond, Va., formerly of Cincinnati; and two grandchildren.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky., 41042.

Arrangements are being handled by Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home of Newport.

Velna F. Patterson Adams, 93, of Erlanger, died at 9:23 a.m. Saturday at Villaspring Care Center, Erlanger. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Aaron A. Adams, died in 2004.

Survivors include a son, William A. Adams of Florence; a brother, Turner Patterson of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Willa Mae Patterson of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to Ralph Fulton VFW Post No. 6423, 4435 Dixie Highway, Elsmere, Ky. 41018.

Raymond Hart Beetem, 76, of Alexandria, died Saturday at Hospice of Northern Kentucky, Fort Thomas. He was a retired employee of Don's Crankshaft, Cincinnati. His wife, Alice Ruth Perry Beetem, died in 1988.

Survivors include a son, Raymond Beetem Jr. of Peach Grove; daughters, Diane Schweitzer and Georgia Barry, both of Alexandria, and Terri Johnson of Crestview; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Main Street Baptist Church, Alexandria. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church, and from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Ransdell Funeral Home, Campbellsburg. Burial will be in Turners Station Cemetery.

Howard L. Bill, 76, of California, died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired foreman with Frye Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Disabled American Veterans No. 148 in Alexandria and Campbell County VFW Post No. 3205, Alexandria.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly J. Bill; a daughter, Barbara Bill of California; and a sister, Virginia Schenck of Highland Heights.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Church, Alexandria. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Melvin Bowman, 85, of Dry Ridge, died Sunday at Grant Manor, Williamstown.

Arrangements are pending at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge.

Allen Deatherage, 65, of Burlington, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a retired pipefitter with Ford Motor Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Bullittsburg Baptist Church and pipefitter and AUW unions.

Survivors include his wife, Janet L. Cave Deatherage; a son, Troy Deatherage of Hebron; a daughter, Daphne Dierolf of Almont, Mich.; brothers, Charlie Deatherage and Ray Deatherage, both of Erlanger; a sister, Irene Howard of Independence; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sand Run Cemetery, Hebron. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.

Nancy E. Doggett, 81, of Falmouth, died Friday at University Medical Center, Lexington, of injuries suffered in an auto accident in Harrison County. She was a retired employee of the Bluegrass Army Depot in Avon, and a member of Antioch Mills Christian Church. She was a member of the church Ladies Aid Society, Woodmen of the World Lodge and Town and Country Homemaker Club, Pendleton County. Her husband, Kenneth L. Doggett, died in 1999.

Survivors include a son, Bill Doggett of Lexington; a daughter, Janice Dyche of Lexington; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Montagno of Bloomington, N.C., and Virginia Lee Adams of Highland Heights; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Antioch Mills Christian Church, Harrison County. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Pendleton County. Memorials are suggested to Antioch Mills Christian Church Building Fund, 12785 U.S. 27 North, Berry, Ky. 41003; or Relay for Life, American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Diane Flege, 61, of Erlanger, died Wednesday at her residence. She was a retired salesperson from End-O-Line, Fort Wright.

Survivors include her husband, Charles "Skip" Flege; daughters, Sharon Reffitt of Independence and Sheila Compton of Taylor Creek, Ohio; a sister, Nancy Hamm of Erlanger; and three grandchildren.

Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Henry Church, Elsmere. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075; or The Point, 45 W. Pike St., Covington, Ky. 41011. Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere, is handling arrangements.

Alysha Nicole Gardner, 16, of Cold Spring, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She was a sophomore at Campbell County High School and a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Cold Spring.

Survivors include parents, Donald and Lorie Scott of Cold Spring; a sister, Misty Clark of Cold Spring; a half-brother, Donald A. Scott Jr. of Canton, Ohio; and grandparents, Dawn Gardner of Alliance, Ohio, and Ronald and Sandra Wonner of Alliance.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Campbell County High School, Alexandria. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Luke Lutheran Church, 3917 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, Ky. 41076. Radel Funeral Home, Cold Spring, is handling arrangements.

Ralph Peter Garlich, 73, of Southgate, died Thursday in Okeechobee, Fla. He was a salesman with Western Southern Life Insurance Co., and a member of St. Therese Church in Southgate, and Sacred Heart Church, Okeechobee. He was a member of John R. Little VFW Post No. 3186, Southgate, and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Voekley Garlich; a son, John Garlich of Wilder; a daughter, Debbie Brooker of Erlanger; brothers, John Garlich of Melbourne, Larry Garlich of Cold Spring and Bob Garlich of Augusta; sisters, Sister Mary Martha Garlich and Helen Lutz, both of Melbourne, and Celeste Roberts of Highland Heights; and a grandchild.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Therese Church, Southgate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Camp Springs. Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Church, 701 SW Sixth St., Okeechobee, Fla. 34974.

Alberta E. Hall, 82, of Kissimmee, Fla., formerly of Covington, died Friday at her home. She was a retired deli manager with the Kroger Co. A daughter, Linda Howard, died in 2003.

Survivors include her son, Richard Morris of Palm Coast, Fla.; daughters, Sandy Heatherly of Texas and Judy McClelland of Haines City, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Home, Kissimmee. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Kissimmee.

George Andrew Hammond, 91, of Owen County, died Friday at New Horizons Medical Center, Owenton. He was a farmer and attended Canby Tabernacle.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Mason Hammond; a son, Gene Ray Kincaid of Michigan; a daughter, Doris Kincaid of Owen County; seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald and New Funeral Home, Seminary Street location, Owenton. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owenton Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to New Horizons Medical Center, 330 Roland Ave., Owenton, Ky. 40359.

Theresa R. Babin Herman, 74, of Fort Thomas, died Thursday at Hospice of Northern Kentucky, Fort Thomas. She was a homemaker. Her husband, William Hermann Jr., preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Peggy Leahy of Fort Thomas, Kim Hermann of Fort Thomas and Dawn Chambers of Trenton, Ohio; a sister, Ruth Iles of California; a brother, Clarence Babin of Newport; and five grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.

Mark Marler, 54, of Maysville, died Saturday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. He was an employee of Dayton Power and Light Co.

Survivors include his wife, Jacqie Jones Marler; sons, Eric Marler and Jason Marler, both of Cincinnati; daughters, Catherine Mueller of Hamilton, Ohio, and Melissa Marler of Cincinnati; brothers, Mike Marler, Kurt Marler, Tommy Marler and Keith Marler; a sister, Carol Marler; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery, Mason County.

Charles Eugene "Gene" Perry, 74, of Latonia, died at 5:32 p.m. Friday at his home. He was a retired trailer mechanic with O-K Trucking Co., Cincinnati, a member of Masonic Lodge No. 103 and an Army veteran.

There are no immediate survivors. Services will be at noon Tuesday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.

Boots Kelly Richardson, 50, of Cold Spring, died Friday at her sisters's home in Highland Heights. She was a bench clerk with the Campbell County Circuit Court and a member of St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Her husband, Glenn D. Richardson, died Wednesday.

Survivors include sisters, Sandy Boguszewski and Nancy Brun, both of Bellevue, Sherri Steele of Highland Heights and Kim Tehan of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a brother, Michael Kelly of Fort Thomas.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Glenn D. Richardson, 58, of Cold Spring, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a senior test technician with Cinergy and a member of St. Joseph Church in Cold Spring and the Campbell Game and Fish Club. He was an Army veteran. His wife, Boots Kelly Richardson, died Friday.

Survivors include sisters, Joyce Richardson of Dayton and Dolores Sanders of Cincinnati; and brothers, Raymond Richardson and James Richardson, both of Dayton.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at A.C. Dobbling and Son Funeral Home, Bellevue. Emma Draper Scott, 86, of Williamstown, died Saturday at Grant Manor Health Care Center, Williamstown. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, Pendleton County. Her husband, Stanley Scott, preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Ned Draper of Milford, Ohio, Freddie Draper of Georgetown, Ohio, Melvin Draper and Marvin Draper, both of Williamstown; daughters, Betty Ferguson of Falmouth, Wanda Gross of Florence and Nancy Powell of Williamstown; a brother, Roy Powell of Taylor Mill; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Williamstown Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 333 Guthrie St., Suite 207, Louisville, Ky. 40202; or the charity of the donor's choice.

Wilma E. "Billie" Tracey, 92, of Decatur, Ind., died Wednesday at Woodcrest Nursing Home, Florence. She was a retired teacher with Blessed Sacrament School in Fort Mitchell and Turkeyfoot Junior High in Edgewood, and was instrumental in setting up and operating the first special education class in the Kenton County Schools system. Husbands, Edgewood mayor Thomas R. Ertel and Robert Tracey, both preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Linda Phipps of Indianapolis, Lois Shinkle of Elizabethtown, Judy Walker of Montrose, Mich., and Roberta Rue of Decatur, Ind.; a son, T. David Ertel of Williamsburg, Va.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Mrs. Tracey bequeathed her body to the University of Cincinnati College of Science. Memorials are suggested to Children's Hospital Medical Center, MLC 4002, 3333 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45229.

Mary Littrell Vest, 40, of Florence, died Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was an employee of the Internal Revenue Service.

Survivors include a son, Eric Vest of Florence; daughters, Melissa Burch of Cincinnati and Tonya Vest of Covington; a half-brother, Jim Banter of Hartford City, Ind.; brothers, Lonnie Littrell of Elsmere, Marvin Littrell of Crittenden and Daryl Littrell of Bromley; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.
