Paul Menne, 'always a happy kind of person'

Paul Menne enjoyed spending time with his family -- even better if it meant they were all going out to dinner.

He enjoyed food, especially Bob Evans and Graeter's ice cream, his son, Gary, said.

"As he got older, there wasn't a whole lot he could do, but he enjoyed a good meal, " he said.

Mr. Menne, 81, of Lakeside Park, died Monday at Villaspring Care Center, Erlanger.

Mr. Menne was a bit of a jokester.

"He was always a happy kind of person, " his son said. "He enjoyed talking to other people. Tried to crack a joke whenever he could."

In his spare time he enjoyed watching the Reds, Bengals and University of Kentucky Wildcats on TV. He also liked playing dice and card games with his wife, Mary, before she died in 2001.

One of his favorite such games was something called "farkle, " his son said.

Mr. Menne also was active in the church in community. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell, and the church Holy Name Society and sacrament finance committee.

He was a former Jaycee, and was a member of Erlanger Lions Club and St. Pius Senior Citizens.

He was an accountant with the Air Force and General Electric in Cincinnati.

In addition to his son, survivors include sons, Greg Menne of Erlanger, Marc Menne of Villa Hills; a daughter, Mary Beth Pfeiffer of Villa Hills; brothers, Arthur Menne of Loveland, Ohio, and Clem Menne of Edgewood; sisters, Marie Adrian of Largo, Fla., and Katherine "Kay" Ryan of East Lansing, Mich.; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Pius X Church, Edgewood. Mr. Menne bequeathed his body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Future burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to Covington Catholic High School, 1600 Dixie Highway, Park Hills, Ky. 41011. Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, is handling arrangements.

Ralph F. Beverding, 86, of Erlanger, died Monday at Villaspring Care Center, Erlanger.

He was a carpet salesman and a member of St. Henry Church in Elsmere and Tri-City Seniors.

Survivors include a son, Greg Beverding of Erlanger; and a sister, Eunice Toney of Cincinnati.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Henry Church. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Friday. Entombment will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Disease Association, 644 Linn St., Suite 1026, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Harry Thomas Brooks, 55, of Newport, died Monday at St. Luke Hospice Unit, Fort Thomas. He was a retired cab driver.

Survivors include his wife, Leslie Iles Carmack; a son, Joshua Cody of Newport; a stepdaughter, Mary Caudill of Cincinnati; his father, George H. Brooks Sr. of Newport; sisters, Darlene Delaney and Debbie Brooks, both of Crescent Springs, and Mary Stewart of Covington; brothers, Ricky Brooks of Covington, George H. Jr. of Louisville and Thomas Brooks of Newport; a stepsister, Shirley Caudill of Carrollton; and three step-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to 7 p.m. Friday at East Dayton Baptist Church. Cremation will be at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Cincinnati. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Mildred L. Beschman Burton, 96, of Florence, died at 11:10 a.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a retired secretary with Erlanger Baptist Church. She was also a member of the church. Her first husband, G. Albert Beschman, died in 1956. Her second husband, Rodney Burton, died in 1995. Stepsons, Douglas Burton and Kenneth Burton, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include sons, Al Beschman of Ludlow and Bill Beschman of Mount Healthy, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Lee Anne Yentes of Sun City Center, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Erlanger Baptist Church. Memorials are suggested to Erlanger Baptist Church, 116 Commonwealth Ave., Erlanger, Ky. 41018. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Charles Lawrence Case, 71, of Alexandria, died at 6 a.m. Sunday at his home.

He was a retired yard conductor with CSX Railroad.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Case; daughters, Debbie Bullock, Terri Sheffel and Diana Weber, all of Alexandria; sisters, Dorothy Arwood of Russell Springs and Margaret Reeder of Crestview; a sister, Zelma Reeder of Florence; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Thursday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Silver Grove Christian Church, P.O. Box 430, Silver Grove, Ky. 41085.

Mattie Lou Dezarn, 93, of Dry Ridge, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

She was a homemaker and a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Cincinnati.

Her husband, Alva Dezarn, died in 1987.

Survivors include a brother, Ronald Messer, and a sister, Lillie Marcum, both of Indiana.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Burial will be in Arlington Memorial Gardens, Cincinnati.

Paul E. Francis, 70, of Florence, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

He was a retired salesman with Turnbull Concrete Co. and an Army Reserve veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Francis; daughters, Leslie Gessenhaus of Fort Thomas, Laurie Karacoff and Sherrie Mills, both of Cincinnati; a son, Thomas Sagraves of Cincinnati; a brother, Clyde Francis of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Brenda Owney of Virginia Beach, Va.; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 6 p.m. Friday. Cremation will be at Baxter Cremation Service, Cincinnati.

Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Nancy Carol Gemmer, 62, of Latonia, died at 4 p.m. Monday at her home.

Sons, Joey Griffin and Mark Griffin, died in 1999 and 1989, respectively.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Gemmer Jr.; a son, Tom Griffin of Demossville; a daughter, Dwana James of Latonia; brothers, James Booth of Alexandria, Wilburn Morgan of Brownsville, Texas, and Avery Morgan of Independence; a sister, Francis Dowd of Florence; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Minnie Francis Glover, 85, of Silver Grove, died Monday at her home.

She was a factory worker with Plastic Molding Corp.

Sons Joseph Frances Moore and Thurman Jesse Moore, both preceded her in death.

Survivors include sisters, Myrtle Lee Caudle of Pahrump, Nev., and Edna Estepp of Newport; a brother, Elmo Sharp of Newport; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Cremation will be at Baxter Cremation Service, Cincinnati.

Mary J. Henry, 61, of Carrollton, died Monday at Gallatin County Health Care, Warsaw.

She was a member of Carrollton United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a brother, Irvin Henry of Carrollton.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton.

Memorials are suggested to Carrollton United Methodist Church, 310 Highland Ave., Carrollton, Ky. 41008.

Ernest B. Hill, 93, of Cynthiana, died Tuesday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana.

He was a retired farmer and employee of the Harrison County Road Department, and a member of Indian Creek Christian Church.

His wife, Ruby Wilson Hill, and a son, James Robert Hill, both preceded him in death.

Survivors include sons, Ernie G. Hill, William "Mac" Hill and Michael E. Hill, all of Cynthiana; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Jacksonville Cemetery.

Raymond Harry Huelefeld, 86, of Cincinnati, formerly of Northern Kentucky, died at 7:32 p.m. Monday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati.

He was a former assistant treasurer with Dubois Chemical Co., a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Fort Mitchell and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Mae Mickey Huelefeld; sons, Tony Huelefeld and Patrick Huelefeld, both of Cincinnati; a brother, Frank Huelefeld of Cincinnati; and a granddaughter.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Church. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Christ Hospital, 2139 Auburn Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45219. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Eva E. Roland Kern, 42, of Alexandria, died Sunday at her home.

She was a homemaker and a member of State Avenue United Methodist Church, Cincinnati.

Survivors include daughters, Eva Lyall of Alexandria, Shannon Kern and Jeannie Wegman, both of Cincinnati; sons, Jason Lyall, Kevin Vetura and Corey Vetura, all of Cincinnati; her mother, Eva Miller Burnett of Cincinnati; fianc�e, Roy Holt of Alexandria; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington.

Visitation will begin there at noon Thursday.

Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.

Jack A. Kleier, 48, of Wilder, died at 12:27 p.m. Monday at Baptist Hospital Northeast, LaGrange.

He was a plumber.

Survivors include a son, Jack Kleier of Newport; a daughter, Kimberly Kleier of Southgate; his father, Marion "Shorty" Kleier of Wilder; sisters, Diana Hicks of Alexandria and Debbie Terry of Naples, Fla.; brothers, Bill Kleier of Newport, Howard Kleier of California, Joe Kleier of Cold Spring and Rob Kleier of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.

Alexandria Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Albert J. Linneman, 81, of Burlington, died Feb. 24 at Veterans Medical Center, Cincinnati.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

His wife, Janice A. Linneman, preceded him in death.

Survivors include daughters, Patricia Eschenbach of Burlington and Aleen Ginn of Erlanger; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio.

Final Wishes Funeral Home, Cincinnati, is handling arrangements.

Jerry W. Million, 51, of Louisville, died Sunday at his home.

He was a member of Shively Church of Christ.

Survivors include sisters, Joyce Ann Wingate of Independence, Janis Van Cleve and Joan Simms, both of Florence; and brothers, Jeffrey Million of Carrollton and Joseph Million of Erlanger.

Graveside services will be at noon Thursday at Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence, is handling arrangements.

Alvera Kaelin Reinecke, 82, of Latonia, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Cross Church, Latonia.

Survivors include her husband, Robert J. Reinecke Sr.; a son, Robert J. Reinecke Jr. of Latonia; daughters, Ruth Henthorn of Edgewood, Rita Huth of Taylor Mill, Mary Rose Reinecke of Erlanger and Nancy Schmitt of Burlington; a brother, Alvin Kaelin of Covington; a sister, Mary Riesenbeck of Latonia; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Church, Latonia. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

Saturday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.

Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Medical Center Foundation, 1 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, Ky. 41017.

Jason Kenneth Searcy, 22, of Indianapolis, formerly of Covington, died Friday in an automobile accident in Crawfordsville, Ind.

He was an apprentice electrician with Gaylor Electric Group.

Survivors include his wife, Misty Padilla Searcy; his mother, Molly Eckler Searcy of Covington; a sister, Tara Eckler of Downers Grove, Ill.; and brothers, William Allen and Carl Allen, both of Taylor Mill.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence.

Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Thursday.
