Services for Lena Melba Hurst, 92, of Sherman who Interment will follow at West Hill born on May 17, 1914 the daughter of E. C. Riley, Sr. and May Lee Martin Riley, in Sherman, Texas.

She was a graduate of Sherman High School.

On October 29, 1935 she married for 53 years when he preceded her in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sons; Thomas Ray Hurst, Bob Hurst and her grandson, Len Hurst.

She is survived by her son: Jodey Hurst and wife Sandra of Mineola, Texas; 2 brothers: E. C. Riley, Jr. and wife Nellie of Sherman, TX, Harold Riley and wife Lila of Shreveport, LA; sister: Vivian Hobbs of Sherman, TX; 6 grandchildren: Michael Hurst, Jeffrey Hurst, John Hurst and wife Karen, Andrew Hurst and wife Tracey, Corey Hurst and wife Lisa, Beverly Melladew and husband Jim and 11 great-grandchildren.

If desired memorial may be made to Ministry of Encouragement, c/o First Baptist Church, 401 S. Travis, St., Sherman, TX 75090.

William A. Peek, Jr.

Services for William A. “Bill” Peek, Jr., 67, of Van Alstyne, Texas who born on February 5, 1939 in Durant, Oklahoma the son of William A. Peek, Sr. and Maudie Baker Peek.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.

He was a graduate of Ada High School and East Central University.

He lived in Oklahoma most of his life and moved to California for a short time. He lived the last 23 years in Van Alstyne, Texas.

Mr. Peek served in the United States Army for 3 years.

He was a medical technologist for Community Hospital and Wilson N. Jones Medical Center until his retirement.

He was a member of the Durant Elks Lodge.

He is survived by: his wife, Carol of Van Alstyne; brother: Peter Peek of Batesville, AR; sister: Carol Hill of Newport Beach, CA; mother-in-law: Flo Loftin of Weskan, Kansas; brothers-in-law: Robert Loftin of Weskan, Kansas, Dana Loftin of Woodbridge, Virginia; uncle: Glen and Betty Baker of Dallas, Texas, aunt: Wanda Baker; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Beatrice Mathis

Beatrice Simmons Mathis Interment will follow at West Hill born on February 14, 1922 to John and Myrtle Simmons. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1939.

She death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and one sister.

She is survived by her sons: John Billy Mathis Jr. and wife Bettie of League City, Bobby Lee Mathis and wife Jackie of Sherman, and daughter, Missy and husband Chuck Imbert of Sherman.

She was Granny to six grandchildren: shelly and husband Chris Morgan of San Antonio, Lee Mathis of Denison, Kristi Bayless of Pottsboro, Trey Mathis of Austin, Charley Imbert of Sherman, and Misti Mathis of Sherman.

She was proud of her four great-grandchildren: Haeleigh, Emalee Kate, Baylan and Brennan. She is also survived by two sisters: Ouida and husband Horace Pinkston of Whitesboro and Dorothy Elam of San Antonio. She also has many nieces and nephews and their families.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.

The family request that donations be made in her honor to Grayson County Home Hospice, 505 W. Center, Sherman, Texas 75090 or North Park Baptist Church, 2605 Rex Cruse, Dr., Sherman, Texas 75092.

Cora Mae Simco

Services for Cora Mae Simco, 84, of Sherman who Interment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Simco was married Walter Simco. He preceded her in deth on June 2, 1987.

Mrs. Simco worked for Burlington Mills. She was a member of the DAV Auxiliary and Western Heights Church of Christ of which she had been a member for over fifty years.

Mrs. Simco was preceded in death by, her parents, husband, sister, Tressie Martin and brother, Billy Owen.

She is survived by her daughters: Charlotte Todd and husband David and children: Lisa and Jeff of Sherman, Texas, Sandra Thomason and family: shirley, Anita and Holli of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sisters: Wanda Tarvin of Sherman, Imogene Johnson of Sherman, Lois Sims of Sherman, Jodi Finley of Forney, Texas;brother: Dewey T. Owen of Sherman;5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Simco will be: grandson, Jeff Todd, great-grandsons: Josh Leeder and Heath Leeder, grandsons-in-law: Kyle Nabors, David Hurd and alex Elghazali.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 3, 2006 from 7 until 8:00PM at Dannel Funeral Home.
