Ludlow's Leonard Ozepy, bingo caller

Leonard Guy Ozepy of Ludlow was an avid bingo player who enjoyed calling games.

Mr. Ozepy, 55, died Tuesday at his home.

He was a retired salesman and a bingo caller with Riverview Bingo in Covington. He was a member of Word of Faith Chapel in Covington.

Mr. Ozepy tried to go fishing whenever he could. His favorite spot was Elmer Davis Lake near Owenton, where he said he wanted some of his ashes spread, his family said.

He was a native of Pennsylvania and had lived in Kentucky about 13 years.

Mr. Ozepy worked at C&S; Food Distributors in Cincinnati, Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill and in the insurance industry.

"He was very good at sales, " said his wife, Joyce Ozepy.

Other survivors include sons, Michael Ozepy of Ludlow, and Joseph Ozepy and Lenny Ozepy, both of Pennsylvania; stepsons, Danny Hummel, David Hummel and Stephen Gilbert, all of Ludlow, and Tommy Jaehn of California state; daughters, Michele Ozepy, Jackie Kuhn and Natalie Raachini, all of Pennsylvania, and Bev Hoeltge of South Carolina; a stepdaughter, Shannon Gilbert of Ludlow; his mother, Laura Ozepy of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Robert Ozepy of Pennsylvania; a sister, Kathy Thomas of Albuquerque; and 12 grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Word of Faith Chapel. Memorials are suggested to Leonard Ozepy Fund of Storehouse Ministries, 226 Pike St., Covington 41011. Nicholls Funeral Home, Cincinnati, is handling arrangements.

Marjorie Bush Avant, 74, of Swansea, S.C., died Wednesday at Baptist Medical Center in Columbia, S.C. She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Swansea.

Survivors include sons, Keith Bush of Columbia, S.C., and Kent Bush of Apple Valley, Calif.; a sister, Deloris McNabb of Erlanger; a brother, James Ray Losey of Walton; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to the church, P.O. Box 177, Swansea, S.C. 29160. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Gloria Ballinger, 76, of Independence, died at 1:30 a.m. Thursday at her home. She was a retired dietician and a member of American Dietetic Association. She was a volunteer at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

Survivors include her husband, Chester Ballinger; and a brother, Richard Hill of Bella Vista, Ark.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Burns Institute, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati 45229.

John Bernard "Jack" Berkemeier, 69, of Erlanger, died Wednesday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a disabled dairy delivery driver and am Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include daughters, Cindy Wilson of Florence and Christina Berkemeier of Erlanger; a son, Doug Berkemeier of Indian Springs, Ohio; sisters, Catherine Kroger of Cape Cod, Mass., and Victoria Brown of Ridgeland, S.C.; brothers, Jerry Berkemeier of Florence and Kenny Berkemeier of Walton; and six grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Henry Church, Elsmere. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to American Lung Association, 11113 Kenwood Road, Cincinnati 45242.

Elizabeth Campbell, 92, of Taylor Mill, died at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday at Woodspoint Nursing Home, Florence. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Covington. Her husband, Clayton Campbell, died in 1972.

Survivors include daughters, Grace Banks of Campton, Nora Hendrickson of Cincinnati and Martha Hale of Winter Haven, Fla.; a foster daughter, Virgie Peffer of Cincinnati; brothers, Albert Hall, Johnnie Hall, Letcher Hall, Kelly Hall and Sam Hall; a sister, Rosie Murphy; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Nancy Northcutt Clemons, 41, of Covington, died June 6 at her home. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Aaron Lee Clemons of Covington; her mother, Deloris Rowe of Covington; a brother, Ray Northcutt of Birmingham, Ala.; sisters, Debora Gardner of Venice, Calif., Crystal Northcutt and Deena Borchers, both of Covington; and one grandchild.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 3 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in the family cemetery in Grant County.

Paul R. Earle, 75, of Independence, died at 9:15 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired telephone technician with Hawaiian Telephone Co. and a World War II veteran.

Survivors include sons, Joseph Lum of San Francisco and Daniel Earle of El Sobrante, Calif.; daughters, Joann Donnelly and Esther Witter, both of Honolulu; and six grandchildren.

No services are planned. Mr. Earle's body was donated to the University of Cincinnati Medical College. Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill, is handling arrangements.

Delecia Ann "Lisa" Back Haddix, 43, of Felicity, Ohio, formerly of Covington, died at 2:12 p.m. Tuesday in Union Township, Ohio, of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. She was a computer technician with Office Max, Cincinnati, formerly with Thermal Unique Window Co., Cincinnati. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Independence.

Survivors include her husband, Roger Haddix; sons, Michael Lee Ashcraft of Covington and Roger Andrew Haddix of Felicity; a daughter, Casey Laine Ashcraft of Covington; parents, Herschel and Barbara June Back of Taylor Mill; brothers, Hershel V. Back of Independence and Darrel W. Back of Taylor Mill; and one grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Marjorie Ross Holtcamp, 73, of Ryland Heights, died at 8:35 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired payroll manager with Greenlie Transportation and a member of First Baptist Church of Independence.

Survivors include her husband Edward Holtcamp; a daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Vest of Verona; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Parish Kitchen, P.O. Box 1234, Covington 41012.

Sister Marie Ange Laferte C.D.P, 94, of Melbourne, died at 2:13 p.m. Thursday at Holy Family Home in Melbourne.

Survivors include a niece.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 4:30 p.m. today at St. Anne Convent, Melbourne. Visitation will begin there at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Anne Convent Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Sisters of Divine Providence, 1000 St. Anne Dr., Melbourne 41059. Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas, is handling arrangements.

Ruth Pfenningwerth Marting, 88, of Crestview Hills, died at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday at Florence Park Care Center in Florence. She was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Lakeside Park. She was a member of Ft. Mitchell Country Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie McGarvey of Edgewood; a son, Dr. Richard Marting of Raleigh, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Highland cemetery Chapel, Ft. Mitchell. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Monday. Memorials are suggested to the church, 2551 Dixie Highway, Lakeside Park 41017. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Dolly Miles, 78, of Carrollton, died Thursday at King's Daughters Hospital in Madison, Ind. She was a retired assembly line worker with Brunswick Factory in Eminence, and a member of Moxley Baptist Church, Carroll County.

Survivors include a brother, Roy Miles of Sanders.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton.

Robert Niblack, 79, of Cold Spring, died Thursday at his home. He was a retired receiving clerk with Ford Motor Co., Cincinnati, and a member of First Baptist Church of Highland Heights. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Carroll Niblack; a son, Curtiss Niblack of Boulder, Colo.; a sister, Mabel Long of Tampa, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Burnie Thomas Poland, 77, of Crittenden, died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home. He was a retired bus driver with Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky and a caretaker with New Bethel Cemetery, Verona. He was a member of All Saints Church, Walton, and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Anne Evelyn Ryan Poland, died in February.

Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Brewer of Crittenden; brothers, Arthur Poland and Jack Poland, both of Warsaw, Henry Poland of Cincinnati and Curtis Poland of Homestead, Fla.; sisters, Alice Hendren of Warsaw and Bertha Ogden of Longwood, Fla.; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Verona.

Wilma L. Rogers, 82, of Florence, died at 5:52 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. Arrangements are pending at Stith Funeral Home, Florence.

Pearl E. Smith, 69, of Carrollton, died at 9 p.m. Wednesday at King's Daughters Hospital in Madison, Ind. She was a retired employee of Kentucky Ladder Co. Her husband, Ira Smith Jr., died in 1968.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Sue Gosnell of Yale, Va.; a son, Allen Ray Smith of Hanover, Ind.; a brother, Harry Tomlinson Jr. of Dayton; six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Tippecano cemetery in Lafayette, Ind.

Eugene "Geno" Teismann, 77, of Highland Heights, died at 2 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas.

He was a retired printer with The Post and Enquirer.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Costa Teismann; daughters, Geraldine Eschenbach of Wilder and Joanna Barnett of Ft. Thomas; a son, Peter Teismann of Cold Spring; a brother, Paul Teismann of Sadieville; and five grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1419 Alexandria Pike, Ft. Thomas 41075.

Ivoria J. Bolser Vance, 71, of Ft. Thomas, died at midnight Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Ft. Thomas. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Hughes of Highland Heights, Barbara Tucker of Dayton, Darlene MacLaren of Milford, Ohio, and Sharron Rice of Newport; sons, Edward Myers Jr. of Cincinnati, Michael Bolser of Batavia, Ohio, and Danny Bolser of Ft. Thomas; 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Grace Louise Vincent, 75, of Corinth, died Wednesday at her home. She was a cafeteria supervisor with Mason-Corinth Elementary School and a member of New Columbus Baptist Church and Lady Lions Club in Corinth.

Survivors include a daughter, Georgia Mona Vincent of Cincinnati; a son, Norris Conrad Vincent of Bowling Green; a sister, Georgia Harriett Olson of Moline, Ill.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rogers Funeral Home, Corinth. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in New Columbus Cemetery, Corinth.
