Harold R. Arnold, Harrison magistrate

Harold Ruby Arnold was in love with his hometown of Cynthiana.

"He loved the town and I feel the town loved him, " said Mr. Arnold's daughter, Janet Arnold Johnson of Charleston, S.C. "He lived on Main Street, with three churches around him."

Mr. Arnold, a magistrate on the Harrison County Fiscal Court, died Saturday in Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana. He was 79.

"The town was his pastime. He would go for a walk at 6 a.m. every morning to look over things, " said Mrs. Johnson.

"He was as good of a friend as a fellow could have, " said State Rep. Tom McKee, who served on the fiscal court with Mr. Arnold for 15 years. "He was just an outstanding citizen, and very dedicated to the people of Harrison County."

A retired automobile salesman for several dealerships, Mr. Arnold had served 15 years on the fiscal court and was making plans to run again. A Democrat, he served county District Two.

"Each term was going to be his last one, but then he would run again. His district had been made larger, and he felt he should run once more. He wanted to serve 20 years...that was important to him, " said Mrs. Johnson.

Mr. Arnold had been a pallbearer on Thursday, for the funeral of a woman in his church, said his wife, Mildred Auchter Arnold. "It was all very sudden, " she said of her husband's death.

Along with politics, Mr. Arnold was active at Central Christian Church, where he was a deacon. He was also involved with preserving a Baptist Church in Harrison County, Mrs. Johnson said.

Mr. Arnold was a member of St. Andrews Masonic Lodge and Thomas Ware Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Cynthiana Lions Club and the Elks Lodge.

In addition to his wife and daughter, survivors include sisters, Virginia Hill of Lexington and Joanna Henson of Cynthiana; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Drake Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with Masonic services at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana. Memorials are suggested to Central Christian Church or Sunrise cemetery Fund.

Roy Kenneth Bishop, 65, of Falmouth, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. He was a truck driver, farmer, and a member of Oakland Christian Church, Pendleton County.

Survivors include his wife, Goldie Courtney Bishop; sons, Roy Kenneth Bishop Jr. of Florida, and Tony Bishop and Kenny Ray Bishop, both of Falmouth; daughters, Peggy Bishop and Kathy Bishop, both of Falmouth; a sister, Blanche Forsythe of LaGrange; a brother, William Bishop of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at noon Tuesday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.

Carlos Cole, 75, of Dayton, died Sunday at St. Luke East Hospital, Ft. Thomas.

Arrangements are pending at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue.

Paul Mario Diciero, 76, of Bellevue, died at 3:22 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. He was a retired restaurant owner.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Lehman Diciero; daughters, Linda Kummero of Port Clinton, Ohio, Paula Schwarberg of Highland Heights, Diane Miller of Dayton, Lisa White of Southgate and Gina Weisgerber of West Chester, Ohio; a son, Paul Diciero Jr. of Southgate; a brother, Vincent Diciero of Cincinnati; and three grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Therese Church, Southgate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas, with prayers at 10:30. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042, or Boys and Girls Club of Greater Cincinnati, 1620 Central Parkway, Cincinnati, Ohio 45214.

Barbara Flinchum, 56, of Lexington, formerly of California, Ky., died at 12:15 a.m. Sunday at University Hospital in Lexington.

Survivors include brothers, Marvin Flinchum of Dayton, Glenn Flinchum of Newport, George Flinchum of Alexandria, and Marcus Flinchum of Southgate; and sisters, Sylvia J. Baker of Avon, Ind., Joyce Sanders of Indianapolis and Peggy Fike of Covington.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grand View Cemetery, Mentor. Alexandria Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Robyn Hanrahan, 39, of Independence, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. Arrangements are pending at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere.

Bessie Harris, 98, of Visalia, died at 3:10 p.m. Friday at Woodspoint Nursing Home, Florence. She was a homemaker. Her husband John Harris, died in 1976.

Survivors include a son, Billy Harris of Bethel, Ohio; daughters, Mary Lou Sanders and Jewell Pettit, both of Covington, Josephine Cox of Visalia and Lulu Heideman of Erlanger; a sister, Ella Mosley of Brodhead; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Mary Lou Hedgecock, 79, of Berlin, died Saturday at her son's home in Highlands Ranch, Colo.

Arrangements are pending at Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home, Augusta.

Flora M. Ledford, 84, of Florence, died at 11:40 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence. She was a homemaker and a member of Community Pentecostal Church of God, Taylor Mill. A son, William S. Rob ertson, died on May 30.

Survivors include her husband, Howard S. M. Ledford; daughters, Jan Robertson Houston of Walton and Barbara Pope of Independence; sons, David Glenn Robertson of Richwood, James O. Robertson of San Antonio and Roy E. Robertson of Henderson, Nev.; a brother, Lawrence Bradford of Fayetteville, Tenn.; 27 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to the church, 11875 Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, Ky. 41015, or American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Edna Michels, 80, of Covington, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington.

Arrangements are pending at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington.

John Benton Miles, 23, of Demossville, died Saturday at his home. He was a general construction worker.

Survivors include a son, Corey Gregg of Falmouth; his mother, Judy Rice Miles of Campbell County; a sister, Amber Miles of Demossville; a brother, Ricky Miles of Falmouth; grandparents, Midge Emminger of Butler and Shelby and Dorothy Miles of Butler.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Pendleton County.

LaWanda June Ogden, 69, of Latonia, died Sunday at her home.

Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.

Mildred Lee Hall Reynolds, 75, of Bellevue, died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a cafeteria worker with Bellevue Schools, and a member of Highland Avenue Baptist Tabernacle, Ft. Thomas. A son, Gary Lee Reynolds, died earlier this year.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Reynolds Sr.; daughters, Deborah Ann Young of Batavia, Ohio, and Penelope Ann Huskey of Wapakoneta, Ohio; a son, Michael Reynolds of Bellevue; a sister, Genella Monhollen of Florence; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dobbling Funer al Home, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Emma L. Roland, 56, of Holbrook, died at 2:35 p.m. Friday at her home of cancer. She was a bank teller with Eagle Bank, Dry Ridge, and a member of Bethany Baptist Church, Holbrook.

Survivors include her husband, Jesse H. Roland Jr.; a daughter, Dolores Luke of West Liberty; sons, Wayne Roland of Williamstown and Mike Roland of Erlanger; brothers, Richard Maynard of Lexington and Bobby Maynard of Louisville; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Burial will be in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, Holbrook.

Ruth Smiley, 72, of Georgetown, died Saturday at Extended Care Facility, Georgetown.

Arrangements are pending at Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry.

Roy T. Stone, 84, of Williamstown, died at 3:20 p.m. Saturday at Gallatin Health Care Center, Warsaw.

He was a retired truck driver with Belcher Oil Co., Miami, and a member of Mason Baptist Church, Grant County. He was a former employee of Crittenden Truck Stop and Ballenger's Gulf Station in Crittenden. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

A son, John William "Stoney" Stone, died in 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Mary S. Stone; sons, Roy Stone II of Crete, Ill., and Larry Wayne Stone of Sparta; a stepson, Richard Gordon of Erlanger; daughters, Barbara Stith of Williamstown and Sharon Kay Willis of Alexandria; a sister, Virgie Ryan of Dayton, Ohio; 21 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Williamstown Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Roy T. Stone Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home, 500 North Main St., Williamstown, Ky. 41097.

Caney Thompson, 52, of Falmouth, died Saturday in an automobile accident. Arrangements are pending at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth.
