Gene Ferguson, owner, Ft. Thomas Pizza

George Stull works and lives a short walk from Ft. Thomas Pizza.

He will miss the owner of the restaurant, Gene Ferguson, who was there every day with a sandwich for Mr. Stull.

Mr. Ferguson, 57, of Highland Heights, died at 1:12 a.m. Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East in Ft. Thomas.

He was a retired assembly worker with General Motors in Cincinnati and owner of Ft. Thomas Pizza.

"I talked to Gene every day, " Mr. Stull said. "He was one of the best people I've ever met. A really good guy. Gene worked hard. When he wasn't working there in the pizza shop he was home taking care of his mother."

Survivors include his wife, Terry Kennedy Ferguson; daughters, Robin Hogan of Newport and Heather Jackson of Highland Heights; a son, Justin "Bubba" Jackson of Highland Heights; his mother, Irene Estelle Rardin Ferguson of Highland Heights; sisters, Janice Lou Wilmoth of Spring Hill, Tenn., and Mary Ann Kemplin of Ft. Thomas; and a brother, Ira Kenneth Ferguson of Newport.

Services will be at noon Thursday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Persimmon Grove Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 1885 Dixie Highway, Suite 250, Ft. Wright, Ky. 41011, or to the Memorial Program of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 300, Memphis, Tenn. 38148.

Lillian L. Baker, 77, of Newport, died at 5:50 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a retired sales clerk with Rinks Department Store, Bellevue, and a member of First Baptist Church of Dayton. Her husband, John C. Baker, died in 1982.

Survivors include sons, Danny Baker of Milford, Ohio, Barry Baker and Roger Baker, both of Bellevue; a daughter, Jeanette Haigis of San Diego; a brother, Haldon Harris of Dallas; sisters, Elsie Cooper of Dayton, Ina Chaney of Tennessee, Peggy Davis of Norwood, Ohio, and Aileen Elliott of Louisville; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to Holly Hill Children's Home, Route 1, Box 21, California, Ky. 41007, or the church, 501 Dayton Ave., Dayton, Ky. 41074.

Emeline Butsch, 79, of Alexandria, died at 2:15 p.m. Monday at Tate Family Care Home, Butler. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary Church, Alexandria. Her husband, Alvis J. Butsch, died in 1995. A son, Charles Butsch, died in 1989.

Survivors include sons, Mark Butsch, Paul Butsch, Michael Butsch and Raymond Butsch, all of Alexandria, and Larry Butsch of Melbourne; daughters, Caroline Hatter and Eileen Smith, both of Butler, and Mary Bezold of Melbourne; a brother, Edwin Woeste of Cold Spring; sisters, Vera Krutzkamp and Marie Rebholz, both of California, Ky., Martha Justice of Alexandria and Linda Rooney of Highland Heights; and 16 grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Church, Alexandria. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Thursday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Alexandria. Memorials are suggested to Redwood Rehabilitation Center, 71 Orphanage Road, Ft. Mitchell, Ky. 41017.

Dorothy R. Day, 81, of Newport, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a retired clerk with Schmidt Dry Goods Co., Newport.

Survivors include sisters, Mary Lohr and Elizabeth "Betty" Ritter, both of Newport.

Services will be at the convenience of the family. Radel Funeral Home, Newport, is handling arrangements.

Norma Jean Denton, 64, of Florence, died Sunday at her home. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Douglas M. Denton, died in 1983.

Survivors include sons, David Lee Denton of Oxford, Ohio, John Douglas Denton of Miamisburg, Ohio, James Michael Denton of Lawrenceburg, Ind., and Deron Patrick Denton of Florence; a daughter, Linda Jean Worley of Petersburg; a brother, Lloyd Chapman of San Diego; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greendale cemetery in Lawrenceburg, Ind. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U. S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Sherley Ann Drysdale, 98, of Ft. Thomas, died Sunday at Highlands of Ft. Thomas nursing home. She was a homemaker and a member of Williamstown Baptist Church. A daughter, Beatrice Coy, died in 1990.

Survivors include a daughter, Sylvia Bowling of Crittenden; sons, Leroy Drysdale of Dry Ridge and Robert Drysdale of Burlington; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Memorials are suggested to charity.

Mason Reed Johnson, 3 months, the son of Jonathan Eric Thacker and Darla Jean Johnson, both of Union, died at 8:45 a.m. Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

Other survivors include grandparents, Ralph and Patricia Thacker of Union, and Eddie and Sherry Johnson of Union; and great-grandparents, Bobbie Chalfant of Cincinnati, Leonard and Ruth King of Utica, Ky., and Margaret Barker of Florence.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery, Union. Memorials are suggested In Memory of Mason Reed Johnson, in care of Eddie and Sherry Johnson, 9944 Highway 42, P. O. Box 64, Union, Ky. 41091.

Paul Elwood Judy, 71, of Cynthiana, died Sunday at his home. He was a retired farmer and school bus driver, and a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis "Lucy" Earlywine Judy; sons, Mike Judy of Seven Springs, N.C., and Barry Judy of Harrison County; a daughter, Deborah Morrison of Cynthiana; a sister, Doris Slade of Lexington; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, Ky. 40504.

Mildred Maybrier, 50, of Cynthiana, died Sunday at her home. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include sons, James Maybrier Jr. and Jonathan Maybrier, both of Cynthiana, and Timothy Maybrier of Robertson County; daughters, Melissa Maybrier of Cynthiana and Sharon Maybrier of Paris, Ky.; her father, Opal Carr Burden of Stamping Ground; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana.

Dorothy C. McCafferty, 75, of Covington, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Care Center in Covington. She was a homemaker. A daughter, Barbara Fabre, died in March.

Survivors include her husband, James R. McCafferty; a daughter, Janet McCafferty of Villa Hills; sons, Steve McCafferty of Newport and Doug McCafferty of Edgewood; sisters, Pauline Kuehn and Helen Huber, both of Cincinnati, and Marian Fitzpatrick of Ft. Wright; a brother, Dan Czirr of Cincinnati; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, Covington. Entombment will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to the cathedral, 1140 Madison Ave., Covington, Ky. 41011, or to St. Charles Care Center, 500 Farrell Drive, Covington, Ky. 41011. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Edwin Miller, 86, of Ryland, died at 4:35 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

Arrangements are pending at Connley Bros. Funeral Home, Latonia.

Mildred Miller, 85, of Sebastian, Fla., formerly of Ft. Wright, died at 11:05 a.m. Saturday at her home. She was a retired tax accountant with Miller Tax Agency, Ft. Wright and Kenton County locations, and was a member of St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church in Sebastian.

Survivors include her husband, Albert Miller; a son, Robert Miller of Fair Hope, Ala.; a daughter, Lois Burin of Westminster, Colo.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Stephen Episcopal Church, Latonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Ft. Wright.

William D. "Don" Morehead, 68, of Cincinnati, formerly of Northern Kentucky, died at 3:52 p.m. Friday at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. He was a retired janitor with St. Elizabeth Medical Centers.

Survivors include a sister, Betty Franks of Panama City, Fla.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to Gideon's Memorial Bible Fund, P. O. Box 18488, Erlanger, Ky. 41018.

James Robert Mullins, 66, of Gatlinburg, Tenn., formerly of Harrison County, died Saturday at Sevier County Hospital in Sevierville, Tenn. He was a retired employee of Queen City Railroad Construction Co., Cincinnati.

Survivors include his wife, Verna Jeffries Mullins; sons, Jeff Mullins of Gatlinburg, Robert Mullins and Billy Mullins, both of Sevierville, Eric "Tony" Mullins of Kodak, Tenn., James Mullins Jr. of Butler and Dennis Mullins of Cincinnati; a stepson, Dorsie Layne of Sevierville; sisters, Anna Newcomb of Mt. Vernon, Ruth Rose and Letha Tolle, both of Cynthiana, Marie Grant of Demossville, Georgia Moore of Pittsburg, Ky., Bonnie Coyle of Mary Anna, Fla.; brothers, Paul Mullins of Independence and Donnie Mullins of Ft. Thomas; and 20 grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pythian Grove Cemetery, Harrison County.

Kathy Fischer Mullins, 26, of Florence, died at 7:30 a.m. Friday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence of natural causes. She was an assistant manager with Walgreen's Pharmacy, Latonia, and a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Mullins; her father, David Fischer of Bellevue; a brother, Mike Fischer of Covington; sisters, Karen Beach of Hooven, Ohio, Tina Fitch of Bellevue and Terri Young of California; a brother, Jim Fischer of Ludlow; her grandmother, Daisy Fischer of Cincinnati; and her grandfather Clyde Bramble of Cincinnati.

Services were this morning at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Burial was in New Bethel Cemetery, Verona. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 1885 Dixie Highway, Suite 250, Ft. Wright, Ky. 41011.

Jane Schweitzer, 46, of Florence, died at 11:58 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a computer programmer with Procter & Gamble, Cincinnati, and a self-employed interior finisher. She was a Girl Scout leader and an assistant basketball coach with Yealey Elementary School, Florence. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Cincinnati.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Schweitzer; sons, John T. Schweitzer and Daniel J. Schweitzer, both of Florence; a daughter, Renaye Schweitzer of Florence; her parents, Hobert Davidson of Loveland, Ohio, and Ruby Davidson of Cincinnati; brothers, Charles Davidson, Fred Davidson, Larry Davidson and Andy Davidson, all of Cincinnati; and a sister, Ginny Young of Cincinnati.

Geneva Sledge, 77, of Dry Ridge, died Monday at Grant Manor Health Care Center, Williamstown. Arrangements are pending at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge.

Marjorie Steinmetz, 58, of Ludlow, was found dead Sunday at her home. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include sons, Timothy Woodward of Ludlow, Max Steinmetz Jr. of Cincinnati, Matthew Steinmetz of Hamilton, Ohio, and Mark Steinmetz of Cincinnati; daughters, Kimberley Mutters of Cincinnati and Marla Frame of Los Angeles; brothers, Daniel Humphrey of Cincinnati, Ronald Humphrey of Williamstown, Frank Humphrey of Covington and Chester Humphrey of Latonia; sisters, Ada Polk of Trinity Valley, Calif., Theresa Fuller of Big Bone, Judy O'Sullivan of San Francisco and Connie Burch of Covington; 34 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery in Milford, Ohio.

Maude A. Thomas, 96, of Frankfort, formerly of Owen County, died Sunday at Owenton Manor. She was a human resources worker, a homemaker and a member of Bridgeport Christian Church, Frankfort.

Survivors include a son, Albert Thomas Jr. of Owenton; daughters, Edith C. Wainscott of El Paso, Texas, Hallie Dawson and Loretta F. Dunavent, both of Frankfort; sisters, Sue Ellen Auton of Lexington and Adriane Pennington of Cincinnati; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Harlien Voges, 58, of Covington, died 4:59 p.m. Monday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati.
