Walter Olan Sexton, tool and die maker

Walter Olan Sexton, a tool and die maker who owned Wallou Tool company in Cincinnati and later in Foster, died at 12:35 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. He was 76.

Mr. Sexton was born in Covington and served with the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II. When he returned, he became an apprentice tool and die maker, learning the trade that he would pursue for the rest of his life.

He and his wife, Louise Coleman Sexton, lived in Independence.

"He was a very intelligent man. He just couldn't bear not to be discovering new things to do, " she said.

He built a home for his parents and built several homes for his own family. In the 1960s, the family moved to Florida, where he worked for Pratt & Whitney.

"He always like to build things, " his wife said. In Florida, he built a sea skiff and used it to go lobster fishing.

In the 1970s they returned to Independence and he opened his own tool and die shop -- Wallou Tool, named for Walter and Louise. He and their son, Larry, worked in the shop and Louise kept the books.

The first shop was on Reading Road in Cincinnati. Later they moved to Augusta and he moved the business to Foster.

He was a member of VFW Post No. 9535, Augusta, Bracken Farmer's Market, and the Church of Christ.

He and his son, Larry Olan Sexton, both developed heart problems. His son died in January.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Sandra Sue Sexton of Augusta; a brother, Robert L. Sexton of Coventry, R.I.; and two grandsons.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Augusta. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery, Augusta.

Henry S. Douglas, 88, of Maysville, formerly of May's Lick, died at 2 p.m. Friday at the home of his sister in Maysville. He was a retired farmer, a member of Simon Kenton VFW Post No. 2734 and an Army Veteran of World War II. His wife, Alma Myers Douglas, died in 1993.

Survivors include his son, Alvin Douglas of Aberdeen, Ohio; sisters, Kate Barbee, Myrtle Carpenter, Nina Griffith and Irene Stitt, all of Maysville; and brothers, J.C. Douglas of May's Lick and Shirley Douglas of Cincinnati.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Palmer Funeral Home, May's Lick. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery, May's Lick.

Agnes "Judgie" Easton, 93, of Florence, died Thursday at Woodspoint Care Center, Florence. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Paul Church, Florence, and the Altar Society there, Boone County Senior Citizens, and the American Association of Retired Persons. Her husbands, John Leo Judge and Thomas Easton, and sons, John F. Judge and Robert G. Judge, all preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Laverne Judge of Florence; a son, Ronald Judge of Alexandria; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at . Tuesday at St. Paul Church. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul Church, 7301 Dixie Highway, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Marjorie Lee Morgan England, 77, of Augusta, died at 6:35 a.m. Friday at Augusta Health Care. She was a member of Augusta Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Carl England, died in 1983.

Survivors include brothers, Wilbert Morgan of Alexandria and Robert Morgan of Warren, Mich., and a sister, Lavonne Fryman of Augusta.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Brooksville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 1 West McDonald Parkway, Maysville, Ky. 41056.

Victor C. Fender, 87, of Cold Spring, died Thursday at Northern Kentucky Care and Rehabilitation, Highland Heights. He was a retired engineer for Kenton County Water District and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Camp Springs, Northern Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers, Covington Rotary Club, Fort Thomas Retired Businessmen's Club and the Engineering Examining Board.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Fender of Cold Spring; a son, James Fender of Melbourne; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Camp Springs. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Scott Martin, 29, of Berry, died Thursday at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington. He was a maintenance mechanic at CMC-CLA.

Survivors include his wife, Michelle Sellers Martin; a son, Tyler Scott Martin at home; daughters, Taylor Martin and Tarah Martin, both at home; sisters, Candice Martin and Lacy Platts, both of Harrison County; and a grandfather, Woodrow Martin of West Chester, Ohio.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Faye Shirley McIntosh, 57, of Owenton, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was an employee of Actaris Gas Meter Plant, Owenton. Her husband, Odell McIntosh, died March 21.

Survivors include her son, Timothy McIntosh of Harrogate, England; brothers, Charles Shirley of Cincinnati and Kenneth Shirley of Covington; a sister, June Parker of Cincinnati; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at McDonald & New Funeral Home, Main Street, Owenton. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, 701 W. Muhammad Ali Boulevard, Louisville, Ky. 40201-1807.

Ruth E. Rice Meyers, 96, of Fort Thomas, formerly of Southgate, died Thursday at Carmel Manor Nursing Home, Fort Thomas.

She was a retired seamstress, a charter member of St. Therese Church, Southgate, and the altar society there, and Southgate Super Seniors.

Her husbands, Harry R. Rice, and Louis "Lud" Meyers, both preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sons, Richard Rice and Jay Rice, both of Fort Thomas; a stepdaughter, Barbara Meyers of Fort Thomas; a stepson, Donald Meyers of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Therese Church. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas.

Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to Carmel Manor Nursing Home, 100 Carmel Manor Road, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Tom Purdy, 73, of Falmouth, died Friday at Harrison County Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana.

Arrangements are pending at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth.

James L. Seaman, 74, of Fort Thomas, died Thursday at his home.

He was a retired aircraft mechanic for General Electric, Evendale, a member of First Christian Church of Fort Thomas, Fort Thomas Lodge No. 808 F&AM, Covington Scottish Rite, and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

His daughter, Judith Lynn Seaman, died in 1964, and a granddaughter, Cheree N. Deaton, died in 1993.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Seaman; daughters, Kathleen Caudill and Brenda Deaton, both of Bellevue; and two grandsons.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church of Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church, 1031 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling the arrangements.

Francis H. Stivender, 63, of Homosassa, Fla., formerly of Northern Kentucky, died at 9:33 p.m. Wednesday at his home.

He was a self-employed mechanic, owner of British Motor Carriages and a veteran of the Navy.

His wife, Carol Stivender, died in 2002.

Survivors include daughters, Becky Foote of Pleasant Plain, Ohio, Melody Krista of Oxford, Fla., and Cindy White of Goshen, Ohio; a brother, Robert Stivender of Southgate; sisters, Dottie Fenner and Doris VanLoan, both of Grand Junction, Colo.; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Joyce Stull, 64, of Alexandria, died Thursday at her home.

She was retired from Dairy Mart, Newport.

A son, Michael Stull, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Proctor of Butler; her mother, Nora Smith of Grants Lick; brothers, Richard Smith of Alexandria, Jimmy Smith of Covington and Hobert T. Smith of Cold Spring; sisters, Faye Perkins of California, Lyndia Bolia of Harrison, Ohio, and Cynthia Ward and Kathy McDowell, both of Falmouth.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Peoples Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick.

Ethel Wyn Malcolm Traylor, 100, of Owen County, died Thursday at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

She was a homemaker and a farmer. Her husband, Robert Traylor, preceded her in death.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald & New Funeral Home, Main Street, Owenton.

Visitation will be from noon until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton.

Delta M. Vaught, 86, of California, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

She was a former book repairer for Johnson-Hardin Book Bindery and a member of Keturah Street Church of God, Newport, and the Silver Bells Group at the church.

Her husband, Silas Vaught, died in 1976. A son, Earl Emanuel Vaught, died in 1991, and a daughter, Anna Bernice Harris, died in 1994.

Survivors include a son, Robert Francis Vaught of Morrow, Ohio; daughters, Betty L. Cooley of California, Ruth Naomi Davidson of Amelia, Ohio, Phyllis Kuyper of Cold Spring, Ruby Mae Rector of Cincinnati and Shelby Jean Steeley of Bethel, Ohio; 26 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Keturah Street Church of God. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati.

Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, is handling arrangements.

Opal M. Walton, 93, of Florence, formerly of Newport, died at 4:20 a.m. Friday at Florence Park Care Center.

She was a retired home health care provider.

Survivors include sons, Evan Walton of Erlanger and Ronald Walton of Northport, Fla.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Lenoxburg Cemetery, Bracken County.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075; or Lighthouse Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Box 18073, Elsmere, Ky. 41018.
