Ninona M. Miller, 86, Sunday school teacher
Ninona M. Miller Scott shared her love of the Bible in Sunday school classes, high school classrooms, Bible studies and in her everyday dealings with people.

"She always looked for the spiritual side of what she was experiencing, looking for what it was going to give you to help someone else, " said her daughter, Mary Kelsch of Fort Thomas.

Mrs. Scott died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. She was 86.

She worked as a treasurer for the Newport Board of Education and the Fort Thomas Board of Education from 1948 through the early 1960s. In the early 1950s, she worked tirelessly for the non-instructional school employees organization. "As a result of all their work, the group was included in Social Security, " said Kelsch.

Mrs. Scott taught English and Bible as literature at Campbell County High School for 11 years, from the late 1960s through the 1970s.

She was a member of Latonia Christian Church, Dora Chapter No. 2 Order of the Eastern Star, Campbell County Historical Society and the Campbell County Retired Teachers Association.

She was a member and teacher at the Northern Kentucky Virginia Asher Bible Council, which was founded to provide twice-monthly Bible studies for working women.

"She was a wonderful person and her lessons were the best sermons I ever heard, " said her longtime friend Margaret Brewer of Wilder. "She was so knowledgeable and so kind to everyone."

Mrs. Scott's husband, Floyd Scott, died in the early 1980s.

She was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in the past year.

Survivors include in addition to her daughter include a son, William Earl Kew of Fort Thomas; a brother, L. Metcalfe Miller of Lexington; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Bible Society or Latonia Christian Church in Latonia.

Anna Mae Utz Bishop, 77, of Independence, died Friday at Woodcrest Manor, Elsmere.

She was a homemaker. Her husband, William A. Bishop, died in 2000, a daughter, Regina Taylor, died in 2001, and a daughter, Kathy Pagliai, died in 2002.

Survivors include sons, William Bishop Jr. of Taylor Mill, Michael Bishop of Fairfield, Ohio, and Tommy Bishop of Sadieville; daughters, Marie Daugherty of Florence, Sue Burkhart of Walton and Rose Ann Howard of Missoula, Mont.; 30 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Cecilia Church, Independence. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.

Jaydn Soleil Clark, 2 days, died Thursday at University of Cincinnati Hospital.

Survivors include her mother, Jamie Wilson of Erlanger; father, Trenton Clark of Ludlow; maternal grandparents, Jo Ann Essaly of Bradford, Ind., and John Hambrick of Manchester; and paternal grandparents, Brenda Nelson of Ludlow and Ricky Clark of Cincinnati.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Florence Cemetery.

Ran Graves Conley, 71, of Covington, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a baker and a member of Black River Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Conley; sons, Christopher Ran Conley and Shawn Patrick Conley, both of Florence; daughters, Cindy Marie Moore of Union, Sally Ann Owens of Covington, and Kathy Lynne Ashcraft of Burlington; brothers, Donald Conley and Rodney Conley, both of Burlington; a sister, Mary Perry of Covington; and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.

Virgil H. Flora, 83, of Crestview Hills, died Thursday at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati.

He was an accountant retired from Baltimore and Ohio Railroad (now CSX Railroad), Cincinnati, a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Lakeside Park, and an Army Air Corps veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Betty C. Flora; a son, Randall Flora of Fairfield, Ohio; a daughter, Pat Flora Kersen of Boonton Township, N.J.; a sister, Elsie Frazier of Grand Junction, Colo.; and a granddaughter.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the church. Burial will be in Universalist Cemetery, Lower Salem, Ohio. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel United Methodist Church, 2551 Dixie Highway, Lakeside Park, Ky. 41017.

Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Richard Timothy Hay, 48, of Cold Spring, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a contractor with Valley High Construction Fort Thomas.

Survivors include his wife, Julie Palmer Hay; a daughter, Christine Marie Hay of Fort Thomas; sons, Brett R. Hay of Southgate and Adam N. Hay of Fort Thomas; his mother, Victoria Hay of Fort Thomas; and sisters, Bonnie Hay and Vickie Fennell, both of Fort Thomas.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Church, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Entombment will be in St. Stephen cemetery Mausoleum, Fort Thomas.

Wilma C. Horn, 87, of Erlanger, died Thursday at Village Care Center, Erlanger. She was a saleswoman with Rinks Department Store, and a member of Erlanger Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Pete Horn; a son, William Cook of Crescent Springs; daughters, Joan Harrison and Barb Stabauch, both of Fort Mitchell; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Margaret "Mardie" Rolfsen, 86, of Ludlow, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a former employee of the catering department of the Sheraton Gibson Hotel, Cincinnati.

Survivors include her brothers, Charles Rolfsen of Florence and Ray Rolfsen of Ludlow.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sts. Boniface and James Church, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.

Keen Varney Jr., 74, of Williamstown, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County. He was a mine foreman retired from Pittson Coal Co. in Pike County, a member of Samaritan Baptist Church, Pike County, and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Vada Johnson Varney; a daughter, Janet Bowling of Dry Ridge; brothers, Butler Varney of Thomasville, N.C., and Lucas Gene Varney of Piqua, Ohio; a sister, Juanita Runyon of Thomasville; four grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Memorials are suggested to Lucille Parker Markey Cancer Center, 800 Rose St., Lexington, Ky. 40536.

Myrtle Rena Banks Wilson, 68, of Verona, died Thursday at University of Cincinnati Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Concord Pentecostal Church, Verona. Her husband, Richard Wilson, died in 1998.

Survivors include a daughter, Roberta Waugh of Verona; a son, Ronnie Wilson of Wilmington, Ohio; a sister, Ella Effie Parrish of Monroe, Ohio; brothers, Audie Banks of Wolfe County, Raymond Banks of Ohio and Ernest Banks, Wilfred Banks, Alton Banks, Elvid Banks and Wardell Banks, all of Gilmore; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Verona. Memorials are suggested to Concord Pentecostal Church, Highway 16, Verona, Ky. 41092.
