Elsa Marie Domaschko, determined family woman

Elsa Marie Domaschko once killed a mole using a pitchfork.

She was tough like that, said her grandson, Carl Domaschko, Jr., of Walton.

One day, the 5-foot-2 Verona woman herded a 1, 800-pound steer through a field with only a tobacco stick, he said.

Mrs. Domaschko, of Verona, suffered a massive stroke Sunday night and died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood. She was 91.

Mrs. Domaschko and her hus band, Fred, owned the Airview Dairy Farm in Florence, which produced, processed and delivered milk, from 1954 to 1974.

"She would milk the cows when they first started, " said Kitty Domaschko of Verona, the oldest of the couple's four daughters.

Mrs. Domaschko also spent a lot of time in the kitchen. At Christmas, she would cook dinner for her entire family: 11 children, 46 grandchildren and 65 great-grandchildren.

"She made the best peanut butter strudel you ever ate, " Carl Domaschko said.

She cooked everything from ap ple pies to homemade custard, and she canned home-grown green beans, sauerkraut, pickles and even ketchup, Kitty said.

She was a member of All Saints Church, Walton. Her husband died in 1983. Sons, Fred Domaschko and Richard Domaschko, died in 1969 and 2000, respectively.

Other survivors include daughters, Mary Ann Sullinger of Flor ence, Helen Long of Burlington and Ann Liver of Carlisle; sons, William Domaschko and Carl Domaschko, both of Verona, Edward Domaschko of Walton, and Robert Domaschko and George Domaschko, both of Florence; sisters, Margaret Kramer and Catherine Steffen, both of Alexandria; 26 grandchildren and 65 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at All Saints Church, Walton.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to All Saints Church Building Fund, 46 Needmore, Walton, Ky. 41094; or the charity of the donor's choice.

John C. Chapman Jr., 85, of Falmouth, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired mail sorter with Cincinnati Union Terminal and a former maintenance department worker with Northern Kentucky University, a member of Falmouth Baptist Church and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Chapman; and a brother, Morton Chapman of Covington.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at noon Thursday. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Falmouth. Memorials are suggested to Falmouth Baptist Church, 403 Maple Ave., Falmouth, Ky. 41040; or the charity of the donor's choice.

Linda Frances Combs, 56, of Elsmere, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and attended Berean Baptist Church, Independence. Her husband, Paul Combs, died in 1990.

Survivors include a son, Danny Combs of Georgetown; a daughter, Paula Heflin of Georgetown; her mother, Dora Luster of Taylor Mill; brothers, Jerry Luster of Florence, Bobby Luster of Taylor Mill and Tony Luster of Union; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 2936 Vernon Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219; American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky. 41042.

Rita M. Feldmann, 82, of Florence, died at 6:25 p.m. Monday at Florence Park Care Center, Florence. She was a retired secretary with General Electric, Cincinnati.

Survivors include a niece, Mariann Emswiler of Hamden, Conn.; and nephews, Donald J. Feldmann of Lakeside Park and Frank Feldmann of Dayton, Ohio.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.

Cleo Barry Jobe, 80, of Florence, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a former secretary with A. A. Fieldtup Co.

Survivors include her husband, George Jobe; and a sister, Louella Padgett of Portsmouth, Va.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn Mausoleum Chapel, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum.

Donald Jack Kerfoot Jr., 49, of Falmouth, died Tuesday at his home.

Survivors include a daughter, Amanda Rickey of Covington; a son, Ian Kerfoot of Taylor Mill; sisters, Rhonda Slipenski of Buffalo, N.Y., and Deena Beck of Melbourne; brothers, Derrick Kerfoot of Florence and Darren Kerfoot of Erlanger; and three grandchildren.

Services were this morning at Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence, handled arrangements.

Carl King Jr., 66, of Brooksville, died at 5:33 a.m. Tuesday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville. He was a driller with Dravo Lime mine and a member of Brooksville Christian Church. His wife, Linda Sue McElfresh King, died in 1996.

Survivors include daughters, Lisa Dawn Hesler, Jamie Lee King and Ashley Noel King, all of Brooksville, and Karla Sue Hinson of Germantown; sons, Marc Anthony King of Augusta and Brennan Tyler King of Brooksville; brothers, Walter King of Hamilton, Ohio, and Herbert King of Brooksville; sisters, Dorothy Bay of Edgewood and Billy King of Augusta; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Johnsville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Heart Association, 2936 Vernon Place, Cincinnati, Ohio 45219.

Samuel Lewis, 22, of Covington, died at 2:04 p.m. Sunday at University Medical Center, Lexington, of injuries suffered in an ATV accident.

He was a contractor with Kentucky Home Improvement Co.

Survivors include a son, Alexis Lewis of Covington; his parents, Paul J. and JoAnn Lewis of Covington; a brother, Kelly Lewis of Covington; a sister, Stephanie Lewis of Williamstown; his grandmother, Joan Lake of Cincinnati; and fiancee, Tanya Ensweiler of Covington.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.

Kenneth Lee "Nick" Martin, 45, of Walton, died Saturday at Bethesda North Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a supervisor with Givaudan Flavoring Co.

Survivors include a son, Ross Tyler Martin of Nitro, W.Va.; his mother, Janet Jones of Independence; brothers, Kevin Martin of Union and Robbie Martin of Walton; and a sister, Kim Rayborne of Independence.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Verona. Memorials are suggested to Good Guys Club of Walton, 16 High St., Walton, Ky. 41094.

Frieda Mae Carr Morgan, 82, of Covington, died Tuesday at her home. She was a former insurance underwriter with Thomas Wood Insurance Co., and a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Independence.

Survivors include her husband, George Morgan of Covington; a daughter, Cathy Morgan Sumner of Orange Park, Fla.; a son, Bill Morgan of Independence; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Northern Kentucky, 1403 Alexandria Pike, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075.

Isaiah Lee Lenwood Roberts, son of Tamara Lee Roberts of Covington, was stillborn at 7:59 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

Other survivors include grandparents, Sarah and Lenwood Napier of Covington, Michael and Brenda Kidwell of Covington, Gary Warfield of Ohio and Ron and Carie Spille of Morning View.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at noon Thursday.

Harry "Ed" Rudd, 77, of Verona, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a receiving clerk with F. H. Lawson Co., Cincinnati, a member of United Baptist Church of Wheelrim and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Chesley Elam Rudd; daughters, Sandra Lykins, Brenda Gosney, Rita Connelly, Leshia Rudd and Kimberly Burgess, all of Verona; a brother, Emery C. Rudd of Falmouth; sisters, Noah Tipton of Middletown, Ohio, and Mariah Dye of Stacy Fork; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Verona. Evelyn L. Schoo, 90, of Latonia, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice Unit, Covington.

Arrangements are pending at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia.

John J. Sena Sr., 64, of Highland Heights, died at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday at his home. He was a retired flame sprayer with General Electric, Cincinnati, a member of St. Joseph Church in Cold Spring and an Air Force veteran. A daughter, Carmella Rose Sena, died in 1976.

Survivors include his wife, Carmella Pangallo Sena; a son, John Sena Jr. of Cold Spring; daughters, Gina Dierig of Cold Spring, Marie Steffen of Newport, Melanie Safarcyk of Morris, Ill., and Susan Ratliff of Alexandria; brothers, Michael Sena of Forest Park, Ohio, Anthony Sena of Onalaska, Wis., and Caroline Wood of Milford, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Larry R. Smith, 59, of Union, died Tuesday at his home. He was owner and president of Gunpowder Enterprises and Circle Fly Wads LLC in Union, and a former project manager with St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Folkenroth Smith; sons, Craig A. Smith of Airville, Pa., Curtis R. Smith of Brogue, Pa., J. Douglas Smith of Nashua, N.H., and E. Scott Smith of Independence; a sister, Susan Stermer of York, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Vineyard Church, Florence. Memorials are suggested to Vineyard Church Building Fund, 7101 Pleasant Valley Road, Florence, Ky. 41042. Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington, is handling arrangements.

Virginia Smith, 70, of Foster, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.

Arrangements are pending at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth.

Joseph H. Stanley, 73, of Ludlow, died Tuesday at his home. He was a retired brakeman and conductor with the Norfolk Southern Railroad.

Survivors include brothers, Bert Stanley and Gene Paul Stanley, both of Ludlow; nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Forest Lawn cemetery Chapel, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Ludlow Christian Church, 51 Elm St., Ludlow, Ky. 41016. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow, is handling arrangements.

Nora Underwood Teater, 83, of Williamstown, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a retired catalog department manager with Montgomery Ward in Covington and a former door greeter at the Williamstown Wal-Mart. She was a member of Williamstown Baptist Church. Her husband, Lawrence Holton Teater, died in 1995.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Ann Wehrle of Cincinnati; a sister, Laura Faye Gravel of Messeena, N.Y.; and a brother, Jim W. Underwood of Cincinnati.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Williamstown Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Salvation Army, 1806 Scott Blvd., Covington, Ky. 41011.

Robert Taylor Wedding, 67, of Cynthiana, died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. He was a retired employee of Continental Orange Grove Co. in Florida.

Survivors include sisters, Wanda Buffington of Falmouth, Brenda Baldanza of Lexington and Virgie Boardman of Nashville, Tenn.; and a brother, Raymond Wedding Jr. of Lexington.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.
