James Cassidy, P&G executive

James E. Cassidy of Crestview Hills would drop whatever he was doing to help someone else.

"He was extremely caring and generous toward others, " said his sister, Jan Schipper of Edgewood. "He put the needs of others before his own."

Mr. Cassidy, 39, died at 5:39 p.m. Monday at University Hospital in Cincinnati. He was an associate director of global licensing with Procter & Gamble, Cincinnati.

Mr. Cassidy had cystic fibrosis, but fought the disease with dignity, his sister said.

"He was very courageous and strong about that, " Mrs. Schipper said. "He did not complain."

Mr. Cassidy was a former chairman of the March of Dimes Walk America Walkathon. He also was a lector at Mother of God Church in Covington, where he was known as the man who memorized the readings.

"He never looked at the book, " his sister said.

Mr. Cassidy also was very family oriented and known for his sense of humor and quick wit.

"He could bring levity to any kind of a serious situation in a good way to help people get through, " Mrs. Schipper said.

Other survivors include his mother, Kay Cassidy of Fort Wright; and sisters, Carol Robinson of Atlanta and Pat McDermott of Villa Hills.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:05 p.m. Friday at Mother of God Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2011 Madison Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45208; March of Dimes Foundation, 4701 Creek Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45242; or Be Concerned, 714 Washington St., Covington, Ky. 41011.

Josephine L. Dorris, 77, of Crestview Hills, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. She was a dietician with Deaconess Hospital, Evansville, Ind., and an Army veteran of World War II. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Palm Harbor, Fla.

Survivors include her husband, Carroll F. Dorris; a son, Bob Dorris of Estes Park, Colo.; daughters, Debbie Justin Florence of Union and Nancy Ramer of Crestview Hills; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville. Memorials are suggested to American Lung Association, P. O. Box 9067, Louisville, Ky. 45209.

Ann Flanigan, of West Covington, died at 4:21 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. She was a homemaker and a member of Ludlow Senior Citizens and Sts. Boniface and James Church, Ludlow. Her husband, Robert Flanigan, died in 1983.

Survivors include a son, Jim Flanigan of Fort Mitchell; a brother, Elmer Lonkard of Williamstown; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Citizens Advocacy of Northern Kentucky, P. O. Box 302, Covington, Ky. 41012.

Myrtle Eloise Swearingen Foley, 78, of Covington, died at 2:25 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington.

She was a retired waitress at Green Lantern Restaurant, Latonia, and a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, Southgate. A daughter, Earleen Holland, died in 1995.

Survivors include daughters, Mary Wiehoff of Burlington and Sally Stull of Newport; sisters, Evelyn Vallence of Ironton, Ohio, and Lenora Dalton of Covington; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association, 8899 Brookside Ave., West Chester, Ohio 45069.

Jacob Mark Fozkos, son of Mark and Allison Fozkos of Union, was stillborn Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.

Other survivors include grandparents, Tom and Kay Melton of Seymour, Ind., and Rodney and Peggy Fozkos of Highland, Ind.; and great-grandparents.

Services will be private. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Infant Loss Memorial Fund, 1 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, Ky. 41017. Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington, is handling arrangements.

Margaret M. Goetz, 80, of Lakeside Park, died at 12:12 p.m. Monday at St. Luke Hospital East in Fort Thomas. She was a retired nurse with St. Elizabeth Medical Centers and a member of St. Agnes Church, Fort Wright. Her husband, Paul A. Goetz, preceded her in death.

Survivors include daughters, Jan Weaver of Pleasant Ridge, Ohio, and Pat Goetz of Bellevue; a son, Larry Goetz of Anderson, Ohio; sisters, Martha Winterhalter of Cincinnati, Mary Ruth Hamann of Independence, and Dorothy Geise and Virginia Geise, both of Fort Wright; brothers, Jerry Geise of Rabbit Hash and Tom Geise of Edgewood; and seven grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Agnes Church. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Entombment will be in St. Mary Mausoleum, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Madonna House, 25 Orphanage Road, Fort Mitchell, Ky. 41017; or Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption Building Fund, 1140 Madison Ave., Covington, Ky. 41011. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Marie Bragg Heiert, 80, of Melbourne, died at 8:55 a.m. Monday at Highlands of Fort Thomas Nursing Home. She was a homemaker. Her husband, George Heiert, died in 1991. A daughter, Patricia Bezold, died in 1977.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Bezold of Butler; a sister, Isabelle Sabrowsky of Wisconsin; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 tonight at St. Mary Church, Alexandria. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Alexandria. Memorials are suggested to Bishop Brossart High School, Grove and N. Jefferson, Alexandria, Ky. 41001. Alexandria Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Robert Judge, 67, of Ten Mile, Tenn., formerly of Ludlow, died Monday in Leavenworth, Kansas. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include stepchildren, Jack Hensley, Jeffrey Hensley, Robert Thompson, Ronald Hensley, Debbie Hensley and Vic Hensley; his mother, Agnes Easton of Florence; a sister, Mary Laverne Judge of Florence; and a brother, Ronald Judge of Alexandria.

Services will be private. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Eula D. Lillard, 88, of Bethel, Ohio, died Tuesday at her home. She was an office manager with the Baylis Brothers clothing manufacturing company and a member of Columbia Baptist Church, Cincinnati. Her husband, Arthur S. Lillard, died in 1977.

Survivors include a daughter, LaVerne Lancaster of Bethel; a brothers, Robert Courtney of Sparta; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to Mercy Home Care, 7010 Rowan Hill Drive, Cincinnati, Ohio 45227.

Tina Mann, 39, of Dry Ridge, died Tuesday at University Medical Center, Lexington, after a brief illness.

Arrangements are pending at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown.

Julia T. Osseforth, 90, of Covington, died at 9:01 a.m. Monday at St. Charles Care Center in Covington. She was a retired bookkeeper with Tri-State Foundry, Cincinnati, and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles Care Center. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright. Memorials are suggested to St. Charles Care Center, Recreation Department, 500 Farrell Drive, Covington, Ky. 41011. Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill, is handling arrangements.

John Donald Owen, 80, of Newport, died Sunday at his home. He was a chef with F&N; Steak House and Avenue Night Club, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion. His wife, Mary B. Owen, preceded him in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Eileen Hiedenharn of Villa Hills; sons, Mark P. Owen of Dayton and Matthew Owen of Southgate; a sister, Virginia Willhelm of Florida; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial was this morning at St. Anthony Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue, is handling arrangements.

Norman Paul Rothe, 49, of Florence, died Sunday at his home. He was a pipecutter and a Vietnam War veteran.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Merilyn and Herb Godbey of Florence; and a brother, Neil Rothe of Cincinnati.

Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Byrnece Watson Tarvin, 77, of California, died at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Mentor Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd H. Tarvin of California; and daughters, Joan Leslie Tarvin of Covington and Patricia Ann New of Richmond.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Grand View Cemetery, Mentor. Memorials are suggested to Mentor Baptist Church, Route 3, Box 641B, Mentor, Ky. 41007. Alexandria Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Helm R. Thompson, 85, of Maysville, died at 6:17 a.m. Sunday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville. He was a self-employed building contractor, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Washington United Methodist Church, Maysville, and an associate member of Lena Vista United Methodist Church of Auburndale, Fla. He also worked with the Mason County Schools system and Bluegrass Industries, Maysville, and he wrote a war column for the Mount Olivet Tribune Democrat.

Survivors include his wife, Lenora Thompson; a daughter, Anna Evans of Flemingsburg; a son, William R. Thompson of Rectorville; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Brell and Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Washington Baptist Cemetery.

James Vernon Vest, 46, of Crittenden, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a welder with Sweco Industries, Florence.

Survivors include sons, James Berkley Vest of Asheville, N.C., and Brandon Wade Vest of Crittenden; a daughter, Brianne Rene Vest of Candler, N.C.; a brother, Robert Dwight Vest of London; and sisters, Diane Marie McClane and Aria Dean Carter, both of Florence, and Doris Fay Wagner of Dry Ridge.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Dry Ridge.

Leslie B. Wilson, 51, of Covington, died at 6:55 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North in Covington. He was a senior computer consultant with Keane Inc., Cincinnati.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly A. Wilson; and a nephew, Jason McDaniel of Covington.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Church, Covington. A reception in the church hall will follow the services. Mr. Wilson bequeathed his body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.
