Christopher D. Zellmer

Christopher D. Zellmer, 18, St. Joseph, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, in St. Joseph.
Born June 18, 1980, in Lee's Summit, Mo., Mr. Zellmer was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph, where he attended Central High School.
Surviving: his father, Rick L., St. Joseph; his mother, Kim T. White, San Diego; four brothers, William R. and Brian D. Zellmer, both of St. Joseph, and Eric and Steve Fitch, both of Independence, Mo.; a sister, Rene Fitch, Tulsa, Okla.; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Zellmer, Laurie, Mo.; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Shepherd, state of Oregon.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care, St. Joseph. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph. Family visitation: 6 to 7:30 tonight at the funeral home.

C.T. Gibbins
1905-1999
CLARKSDALE, Mo. -- Charles Thomas Gibbins, 93, Clarksdale, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospice.
Born Dec. 11, 1905, in Clarksdale, Mr. Gibbins was a lifelong resident of the Clarksdale community.
Mr. Gibbins, a farmer, was an elder and member of the First Christian Church and the Masonic lodge, both of Clarksdale.
On Jan. 6, 1936, he married Mildred F. Harlow in Union Star, Mo. She survives of the home.
Mr. Gibbins was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lizzie; three sisters, Mary and Nettie Gibbins and Ann Boyd; two brothers, Edward and James.
Additional survivors: two daughters, Helen M. Hunt, Cameron, Mo. and June Munson, Oldsmar, Fla.; a sister, Elizabeth Guinn, Clarksdale; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Bram-Summerfield Funeral Home. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Family visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Hands of Hope Hospice Hope House, in care of the funeral home.

Juanita M. Jackson
1930-1999
CHILLICOTHE, Mo. -- Juanita Marie (Lotz) Jackson, 68, Chillicothe, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at a Chillicothe retirement village.
Mrs. Jackson worked as a seamstress for the Lambert Glove Factory, Chillicothe, and spent most of her life in that area.
Born Sept. 4, 1930, in Hamilton, Mo., Mrs. Long was a graduate of New York (Mo.) Consolidated School.
On Nov. 15, 1969, she married Kenneth E. Jackson in Chillicothe. He died in 1982.
Mrs. Long also was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mabel Lotz.
Surviving: a son, Douglas O'dell, Lakeside, Calif.; and four sisters, Lorene Edwards and Dixie Bowman, both of Liberty, Mo., Pauline Souders and Yvonne Barbour, both of Independence, Mo.
Graveside service and burial: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe. Visitation: noon to 4 p.m. Monday and 8:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Norman-Wagy-Gordon Funeral Home, Chillicothe. Memorial contributions may be sent to Edgewood Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.

Doris L. Long
1922-1999
CHILLICOTHE, Mo. -- Doris Lucille (Hinnen) Long, 77, Chillicothe, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at a Chillicothe hospital.
Mrs. Long worked as a cook for the Chula (Mo.) School for many years, and was a member of the Baptist Church and Rainbow Club, both of Chula. She also was active in Chula quilting clubs.
Born Jan. 14, 1922, in Chula, Mrs. Long spent most of her life there. She also spent 13 summers at Lake Thunder Head, Unionville, Mo.
On July 15, 1939, she married Harry E. Long in Chillicothe. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Anna L. Hinnen.
Additional survivors: two sons, Marvin, Topeka, Kan., and Gerald, Chillicothe; two brothers, Fred M. Hinnen, Chillicothe, and Lawrence H. Hinnen, Chula; three sisters, Mary H. Reid, Chillicothe, and Cora M. Drake and Dorothy M. Stith, both of Chula; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

William H. Long
1912-1999
BETHANY, Mo. -- William H. Long, 86, Bethany, formerly of St. Joseph and Albany, Mo., died Saturday, January 16, 1999, at a Bethany hospital.
Born on September 15, 1912 in Bethany, Mr. Long retired from the Seitz Meat Packing Co. in St. Joseph, Mo., where he worked as a butcher. Mr. Long was a pharmacist mate for the Navy during World War II, and before entering the war he worked at Townsend Wholesale in Bethany.
He was a Past Commander and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1668 in St. Joseph. He also was a member and chaplain of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2176 in Bethany. He was a graduate of Bethany High School, a member of the United Methodist Church in Bethany, and a licensed real estate agent.
On December 31, 1939, he married Georgia K. Galloway. She survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harve and Rena; a son, Steve; a brother; and 3 sisters.
Additional survivors: a sister, Lois Box, Gladstone, Mo., a brother, John, Shipping Port, Penn.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Service: 2:30 p.m. Monday, Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany. Graveside service and burial: 4:30 p.m. Monday, Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: Anytime after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today. Military Services will be conducted at the funeral home following the service by Bethany Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2176, Bethany American Legion Post No. 216, Albany VFW Post No. 5329, and Albany American Legion Post No. 106. Mabel A. Morrill
1915-1999
KANSAS CITY -- Mabel Alice (Carpenter) Morrill, 83, Kansas City, formerly of Lock Springs, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at a Kansas City hospital.
Mrs. Morrill was born June 30, 1915, in Lock Springs.
In July of 1933, she married Elbert P. Morrill. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Morrill also was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Alice Carpenter; a brother, Manford Carpenter; and a sister, Winifred Carpenter-Agcy.
Surviving: a son, Rod; two brothers, Boyd and Herbert Carpenter; and a grandchild.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sheil Funeral Home, Kansas City. Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery, Gallatin, Mo. Family visitation: noon to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Doris B. Nixon
1909-1999
ROCK PORT, Mo. -- Doris B. (Marsh) Nixon, 89, Rock Port, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at a Rock Port health-care center.
Born Feb. 16, 1909, in Atchison, Kan., she was a graduate of the Hamburg (Iowa) High School.
Mrs. Nixon was a member of the Rock Port Baptist Church, Rock Port Community Garden Club and the 4-H Club, of which she was a leader.
On July 23, 1929, she married Ralph H. Nixon. He died in 1981.
Mrs. Nixon also was preceded in death by a foster son, Dean Hill; her parents, Robert and Cora Marsh; six brothers, Earl, Cecil, Raymond, Leroy, Floyd and Paul Marsh; and two sisters, Hazel Marsh and Gladys Hayes.
Surviving: numerous nieces and nephews.
Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Rock Port. Burial: Mount Olive Cemetery, east of Hamburg. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Rock Port Baptist Church.

Clara Pennington
1911-1999
ROBINSON, Kan. -- Clara (Miche) Pennington, 87, Robinson, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at a hospital in Hiawatha, Kan.
Born March 26, 1911, in Kansas City, she lived and worked there until 1943, when she moved with her family to California. She worked for North American, now Rockwell International in Kansas City, building aircraft. She also was den mother for a Cub Scout pack and active with the Parent-Teacher Association in California, where she raised her family.
On Feb. 12, 1926, she married Chester H. Pennington in Olathe, Kan. They returned to Kansas City to live and work until 1978, when they moved to Robinson to retire. Her husband, Chester, died in 1979.
Mrs. Pennington also was preceded in death by a son, Chester H. Jr.; a daughter, Charlotte Weibling; a brother; a sister; and a grandchild.
Surviving: two sons, Ralph I. and Harry A., both of Robinson; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Framke Casselman Meek Chapel, Hiawatha. Visitation: after 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow services with a private inurnment at a later date.

Stanley Pugh
1911-1999
RAYMORE, Mo. -- Stanley Pugh, 87, Raymore, formerly of St. Joseph, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at a Belton (Mo.) hospital.
Mr. Pugh worked for the Federal Reserve Bank-Kansas City, and as a bank examiner for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., moving to St. Joseph in 1942. He also was employed as examiner at large with the FDIC. Moving to Ferguson, Mo. in 1954, he served as assistant supervising examiner for the St. Louis Regional Office of the FDIC. In 1962, Mr. Pugh was appointed supervising examiner for the Kansas City Regional Office of the FDIC, living in Prairie Village, Kan. He retired as the regional director of the Omaha regional office of the FDIC in 1972. He also served in the Army from 1944 to 1946.
Mr. Pugh was a member of Kiwanis, Monette, Mo. and the Christian Church, Raymore.
Born May 9, 1911, in Ottawa, Kan., he attended Central High School, Kansas City and the University of Kansas-Lawrence.
Mr. Pugh was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary L. Pugh; his parents, Claude S. and Clara; and a brother, Franklin L.
Surviving: his second wife, Mabel R., Raymore; a daughter, Mary J. Carpenter, Williamstown, Mass.; a son, John S., Virginia Beach, Va.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial service: 10 a.m. Monday, Bromwell Lounge at Foxwood Springs Living Center, Raymore. Graveside service and inurnment: 11 a.m. Monday, Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City. Memorial contributions may be sent to Fellowship of John or The Greater University Fund, in care of Kansas University, Lawrence.

Elizabeth Skaith
1923-1999
GOWER, Mo. -- Elizabeth (Guinn) Skaith, 75, Gower, formerly of St. Joseph, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at her home.
Born July 28, 1923, in Sedalia, Mo., she was reared in Gower and was a graduate of Gower High School.
Mrs. Skaith was a member of the Gower Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star and the Chat and Nibble Club, all of Gower.
On April 4, 1942, she married LeRoy J. Skaith in Gower. After their marriage, they lived at several military bases in the United States and overseas. In 1963, they retired and moved to St. Joseph, where they lived before moving to Gower in 1983. Her husband, LeRoy, died in 1997.
Mrs. Skaith also was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Maude Guinn; and a sister, Joan Porter.
Surviving: three sons, Mike, St. Joseph, Jay, Lee's Summit, Mo., and Brad, Sedalia; a daughter, Sheryl George, St. Joseph; and six grandchildren.
Service: 11 a.m. Monday, Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower. Burial: Allen Cemetery, Gower. Family visitation: 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Gower Christian Church.

W.W. Vasterling
1928-1999
CAMERON, Mo. -- W.W. "Bill" Vasterling, 70, Cameron, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Vasterling, a sheet metal mechanic, was a graduate of Kansas City High School and attended Maple Woods Community College, Kansas City.
Born Sept. 4, 1928, in St. Louis, he lived in Tucson, Ariz., and Kansas City before moving to Cameron two years ago.
Mr. Vasterling was a member of the Cameron First Baptist Church.
On July 12, 1958, he married Anna Gordon in Gallatin, Mo. She survives of the home.
Mr. Vasterling was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Alberta.
Additional survivors: two sons, Terry Vasterling and Doug Northern, both of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Rhonda Nichols, Kansas City, and Rachelle Rossi, Hartford, Conn.; a sister, Lois Marshall, Carl Junction, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.
Service: 2 p.m. Monday, Cameron First Baptist Church. Burial: Cameron Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family visitation: 5 to 6 tonight, Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association or the church.

Lola A. Anderson
1904-1999
MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Lola Almeda (Ware) Anderson, 94, Maryville, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, at a Maryville health-care center.
Mrs. Anderson, a homemaker, worked as a dispatcher for the Older Adults Transportation Service. She also was a member of the World War I Auxiliary and the Maryville Garden Club.
Born June 28, 1904, in Milan, Mo., Mrs. Anderson resided in Guilford, Mo., before moving to Maryville more than four years ago.
On Sept. 29, 1927, she married Oscar E. Anderson in Savannah, Mo. He died in 1971.
Mrs. Anderson also was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil M. and Lieusette Ware; and four brothers, Vernon, Miles, Vincil, and Donald Ware.
Surviving: a sister, Eileen Huddleston, Pueblo West, Colo.
Service: 10 a.m. today, Price Funeral Home, Maryville. Burial: Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville. There is no scheduled family visitation.

Steve A. Belding
1961-1999
Steve Allen Belding, 37, St. Joseph, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, due to an apparent heart attack at his work.
Mr. Belding was employed as an inspector at Prime Tanning Co., formerly Blueside, St. Joseph, where he worked for 18 years.
Born Oct. 10, 1961, in St. Joseph, he lived his entire life in the St. Joseph area. He was a member of the Christian faith.
Surviving: his parents, Lester and Blanche, St. Joseph; three sons, Steven A. Jr., Timothy and Paul, all of St. Joseph; a daughter, Christine, St. Joseph; two brothers, Bill and John, both of St. Joseph; and two sisters, Virginia and Dollie, both of St. Joseph.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Rupp Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Burial Savannah (Mo.) Cemetery. Visitation: after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
