Everett E. Frost
1921-1999
RULO, Neb. -- Everett E. Frost, 77, Rulo, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at a Falls City health-care center.
Mr. Frost farmed and operated a Grade A dairy facility until his retirement. After serving in the army, where he received a Purple Heart, he moved to a farm northwest of Rulo, Neb. He lived on that farm until February 1999, when he moved to Falls City.
Born Aug. 22, 1921, in Downs, Kan., Mr. Frost was a graduate of Downs High School.
Mr. Frost was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church, Falls City, where he served as chairman of the administrative board and Sunday school superintendent. He also was a member of Richardson County Dairy Breeders' Association.
On Feb. 17, 1946, he married Doris Heitschmidt in Dodge City, Kan. She survives of the home.
Mr. Frost was preceded in death by his parents, Theron E. and Elizabeth E.
Additional survivors: a son, Neal, Rulo; a daughter, Barbara Hemphill-Taylor, Raleigh, N.C.; a sister, Alberta Stephenson, Duncan, Okla.; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Service: 11 a.m. Monday, Bethel United Methodist Church, Falls City. The body will be taken to the church at 9:30 a.m. Monday. Burial: Zion Cemetery, Falls City. Family visitation: 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dorr Funeral Home, Falls City.

Max M. Ginter
1940-1999
CABAZON, Calif. -- Max M. Ginter, 58, Cabazon, formerly of Hiawatha, Fairview and Troy, Kan., died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at a Loma Linda, Calif., hospital.
He taught at Banning High School, Banning, Calif., for 18 years. He also taught at Perry, Kan., for a few years and served as a counselor in Keokuk, Iowa, for a short time. He also was a Vietnam veteran.
Born May 21, 1940, in Horton, Kan., Mr. Ginter spent his early years in Hiawatha and Fairview. Later, his family moved to Troy, where he graduated from high school. He also received a bachelor's degree from Kansas State University-Manhattan. Later in life, he additionally received two master's degrees.
Mr. Ginter was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Keokuk; Banning Teachers' Association, Banning; California Teachers' Association; and the National Education Association. He also was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and of the Lions Club, Keokuk.
Mr. Ginter was preceded in death by his father, M.M.
Surviving: his mother, Ada, Hiawatha; and a brother, Duane, Hiawatha.
Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 1999, First United Methodist Church, Hiawatha. Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha. Family visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 12, 1999, Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Brown County Chapter of the American Cancer Society or the Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State University, in care of the funeral home.

Frederick E. Ham
1905-1999
IRVINE, Calif. -- Frederick Emmett Ham, 94, Irvine, formerly of Guilford, Mo., died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at an Irvine health-care center.
Mr. Ham taught elementary and high school in northwest Missouri for three years before moving to Hiawatha, Kan. In Hiawatha, he worked at the Kissinger Greenhouse for 15 years.
He then entered the Air Force, serving during World War II. After his service, he moved to Tuluca Lake, Calif., where he lived for the next 45 years. He also worked as a florist at Credic's of Hollywood, Los Angeles, from 1945 until retiring.
Mr. Ham was born on Oct. 12, 1905, in Guilford.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ersa; his parents, Frederick E. and Elzina; two brothers, Frank P. and John T.; and a sister, Aurie M. Tibbetts.
Surviving: a nephew, Larry E., Raytown, Mo.; and three nieces, Betty L. Kirschner, Cottonwood, Ariz., and Justina Hackett and June R. Craig, both of St. Joseph.
The services will be held at a later date in Costa Mesa, Calif.

William R. Judah Jr.
1926-1999
William R. Judah Jr., 72, St. Joseph died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mr. Judah was a baker for Beaty's Grocery Store, retiring after 34 years of service.
Born Sept. 3, 1926, in DeKalb, Mo., Mr. Judah lived his life in the St. Joseph area.
Mr. Judah served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the DeKalb Christian Church.
On April 9, 1949, he married Doris Matthews in Atchison, Kan. She survives of the home.
Mr. Judah was preceded in death by his parents, William R. and Louella; a brother, Samuel; and two sisters, Martha Frambrough, and Sarah Sutton.
Additional survivors: two daughters, Patricia Dunn of the home, and Karen Stobbs, St. Joseph; a brother Thomas, DeKalb; and two grandchildren.
Service: 2 p.m. Sunday, Rupp Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Family visitation: 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the DeKalb Christian Church, DeKalb, Mo.

Margaret B. Merrigan
1901-1999
SAVANNAH, Mo. -- Margaret Bell (Spire) Merrigan, 97, Savannah, died Friday, March 5, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mrs. Merrigan, a homemaker, was a member of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville, where she was a member of the St. Gregory's Women's Guild. She also was a member of the Clyde, Mo., Community Club.
Born Aug. 15, 1901, in Parnell, Mo., she attended school at Parnell and Clyde.
She married Robert B. Merrigan on Oct. 2, 1922, in Parnell. He died in 1989.
Mrs. Merrigan also was preceded in death by a son, Joe; a daughter, Phyllis Lynch; her parents, George and Louise Spire; and two brothers, Raymond and Cleo Spire.
Surviving: two sons, Don, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Bob, Kerrville, Texas; three daughters, Darlene Stoll, Stanberry, Mo., Mary Anderson, St. Joseph, and Caroline Merrigan, St. Charles, Mo.; a brother, Orville Spire, Maryville; two sisters, Rosetta Helmer, St. Joseph, and Beatrice Schmitz, Kansas City; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Monday, St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville. Burial: St. Patrick's Cemetery, Maryville. A family Rosary will be recited at 7 tonight, Johnson Funeral Home, Maryville, where a parish Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be sent to Laverna Village, Savannah.

Wayne S. Metsale
1907-1999
MOUNTAIN GROVE, Mo. -- Wayne Samuel Metsale, 92, Mountain Grove, formerly of Kansas City, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at a Houston, Mo., hospital.
Mr. Metsale worked at the Fairfax General Motors Plant, Kansas City area for 20 years, retiring in 1965. He also served in the Army during World War II.
Born Jan. 12, 1907, in Brantwood, Wis., he was a member of Veteran's of Foreign Wars No. 473, Cabool, Mo.
Mr. Metsale was preceded in death by his wife, Alma, in 1976; his parents, Samuel and Hilma Metsala; three brothers; and four sisters.
Surviving: a son, Keith W., Blue Springs, Mo.; a daughter, Delores Barker, Cabool; a brother, Arnie Metsala, Chicago; a sister, Helen Quade, Wausau, Wis.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial: 1 p.m. Sunday, Osborn Evergreen Cemetery, Osborn, Mo. Arrangements: Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron.

Bertilla F. Prawitz
1915-1999
Bertilla F. (Brychta) Prawitz, 83, St. Joseph, died Friday, March 5, 1999, at a St. Joseph health-care center.
Mrs. Prawitz, a homemaker, was a registered nurse at the former St. Joseph Hospital, St. Joseph, before her marriage.
Born March 31, 1915, in St. Joseph, she was a graduate of Central High School and St. Joseph School of Nursing.
Mrs. Prawitz was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, St. Joseph, and St. Anne's Altar Society of the church.
On Oct. 20, 1940, she married Robert F. Prawitz. They moved to Cosby, Mo., in 1978, where she lived until returning to St. Joseph in 1998. He died in 1993.
Mrs. Prawitz also was preceded in death by her parents, Henry H. and Bertha T. Brychta; two sisters, Henrietta Roesle and Catherine Brychta; and a brother, Paul Brychta.
Surviving: three daughters, Roberta Seevers and Carol Wilson, both of St. Joseph, and Mary A. Jones, Maryville, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial: 11 a.m. Monday, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, St. Joseph. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: after 9 a.m. today and Sunday, Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight and Sunday. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at he funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hands of Hope Hospice, St. Joseph.

Hannah A. Roach
1924-1999
Hannah A. (Elkins) Roach, 75, St. Joseph, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mrs. Roach was a caregiver at Bliss Manor, St. Joseph, and was formerly employed in food service at Donaldson's Drugs, St. Joseph. She also was a registered nurse at the former Sister's Hospital, St. Joseph.
Born Feb. 26, 1924, in New Columbia, Ill., she resided most of her life in St. Joseph.
Mrs. Roach was a member of King Hill Christian Church and a member of the Alamander Square Dance Club, both of St. Joseph.
On June 27, 1946, she married Francis G. Roach in Troy, Kan. He died in 1981.
Mrs. Roach also was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph L. and Nellie C. Elkins; a brother, Randolph Elkins; a sister, Jodeen Oliver; and a grandchild.
Surviving: two daughters, Cindy B. Roach, of the home, and C. Louise Judy, Granby, Mo.; two sons, Bill J. and Gary L., both of St. Joseph; a sister, Genevieve Easterday, Grantsburg, Ill.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care, St. Joseph. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Family visitation: 1 to 4 p.m. and 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Millie A. Runyan
1905-1999
HIAWATHA, Kan. -- Millie A. (Chesnut) Runyan, 93, Hiawatha, died Friday, March 5, 1999.
Born April 27, 1905, in Reserve, Kan., she attended Lost Creek School in rural Reserve.
She was a member of the Reserve Christian Church.
She married George E. Miner, who died in 1965. She then married Carroll C. Runyan. He died in 1993.
Mrs. Runyan also was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Ella Chesnut.
Surviving: a son, Earl Miner, Humboldt, Neb.; a daughter, Geneva Hansen, Ralston, Neb.; two stepdaughters, Norma Eckwert and Martha Runyan, both of Falls City, Neb.; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and five step great-great-grandchildren.
Service: 2 p.m. Monday, Clark Funeral Home, Falls City. Burial: Hiawatha Cemetery. Family visitation: 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Lois V. Seidt
1931-1999
GLADSTONE, Mo. - Lois Victorine (Klein) Seidt, 67, Gladstone, formerly of Chillicothe, Mo., died Thursday, March 4, 1999, in San Antonio, Texas.
Mrs. Seidt was a self employed interior designer until retiring in 1999.
Born Dec. 8, 1931, in Chillicothe, Mrs. Seidt was a graduate of Chillicothe High School and attended the Fontbonne Catholic College in St. Louis. She lived most of her lifetime in Chillicothe, moving to Gladstone in the last few years.
Mrs. Seidt was a member of St. Columban's Catholic Church in Chillicothe and the Kansas City Fine Arts, Singles Group.
On June 9, 1951, she married Robert S. Seidt in Chillicothe. He died in 1994.
Mrs. Seidt also was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph H. and Mary B. Klein.
Surviving: two sons, Robert S. II, Gladstone, and Michael, Kansas City; a brother, David Klein, Chillicothe; and a grandchild.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Monday, St. Columban's Catholic Church, Chillicothe. Burial: St. Columban's Catholic Cemetery, Chillicothe. Visitation: from 2 p.m. Sunday, at Norman-Wagy-Gordon Funeral Home, where the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, followed by family visitation.

Lola B. Schraer
1906-1999
ATCHISON, Kan. - Lola Belle (Jackson) Schraer, 92, Atchison, died Friday, March 5, 1999, at an Atchison hospital.
Born Nov. 17, 1906, in Arrington, Kan. Mrs. Schraer, attended schools in Atchison County, Kan.
Mrs. Schraer, a homemaker, was a member of the Atchison United Methodist Church.
On Aug. 15, 1934 she married Todd Schraer in Hiawatha, Kan. He died in 1979.
Mrs. Schraer also was preceded in death by her parents, John and Annie Jackson; a brother, Horace Jackson; six sisters, Dolly Jackson, Anna Bowser, Beulah Sheeley, Zelma Fine, Roberta Spence, and Laura Bradley; a grandchild.
Surviving: a son John, Atchison; a sister, Evelyn Steuart, Atchison; and several nieces and nephews.
Service: 2 p.m. Monday, Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison. Burial: Larkinburg (Kan.) Cemetery. Family visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, Atchison, Kan.

Mary E. Spears
1917-1999
FINDLAY, Ohio, -- Mary Ellen (Fischer) Spears, 81, Findlay, formerly of Atchison, Kan., died Friday, March 5, 1999, at a Findlay, Ohio, health-care center.
Born March 26, 1917, Mrs. Spears, a homemaker, was a member of Norcrest Presbyterian Church, Findlay, Ohio and a former member of Atchison Presbyterian Church and Church Women's Circle.
On Jan. 16, 1944, she married Melvin Spears. He died in 1980.
Mrs. Spears also was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Vivian Fischer; and a brother, Marc Fischer.
Surviving: a daughter, Barbara Wanstedt, Findlay, Ohio; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial: 2p.m. Wednesday, Mount Vernon Cemetery, Atchison. Family visitation: 1 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison.
