Lorene A. Clayton
1914-1999
SAVANNAH, Mo. -- Lorene Ann (Davis) Clayton, 85, Savannah, died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at a Savannah health-care center.
Mrs. Clayton was a bookkeeper for most of her life at the former Davis Brothers Paint and Wallpaper Co., and later with the Clayton & Co. Real Estate & Insurance, both in Pittsburg, Kan.
Born in Pittsburg on April 4, 1914, she lived all of her life there until moving to Savannah in 1992. She was a graduate of the Pittsburg high school and a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Pittsburg.
Mrs. Clayton was preceded in death by her husband, Frank W.; her parents, Denman H. and Anna Davis; two brothers, Roy and Roll W. Davis Sr.; and a sister, Velma L. Curran.
Surviving: five nephews, Donald E. Curran, Savannah, Roger L. Curran, Lake Isabella, Calif., Roy D. Davis, Pittsburg, Roll D. Davis Jr., Waterville, Maine, and Scott Davis, Sidney, Maine.
Graveside service and burial: 1 p.m. Friday, Mount Olive Cemetery, Pittsburg. There is no scheduled family visitation. Arrangements: Breit & Hawkins Funeral Home, Savannah. Memorials may be made to the Kendallwood Hospice, St. Joseph.

Dorothy M. Eichholz
1906-1999
Dorothy M. (Luttringer) Eichholz, 92, St. Joseph, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mrs. Eichholz, a homemaker, was born in St. Joseph on June 14, 1906, and was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph.
She was a graduate of the Convent of the Sacred Heart and St. Joseph Junior College. Mrs. Eichholz was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Social Club of Immaculate Conception Church, a former member of the Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, St. Ann's Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, Knights of Columbus Council No. 571 Auxiliary.
She was a president of the Midland Empire Council of Scouting, and was awarded the Catholic Action Award for Scouting by Bishop Sullivan; she received the St. Ann's Award of the Kansas City and St. Joseph Diocese in 1962 for scouting and ended her career as a volunteer trainer.
In 1936, she married Bernard Eichholz. He died in 1992.
Mrs. Eichholz also was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Josephine Luttringer; and a brother, Valley Luttringer.
Surviving: three nephews, Robert Lorenz, Milwaukee, Thomas J. Lorenz, North Kansas City, Mo., and James Lorenz, Mission, Kan.; and two nieces, Joan M. Monaghan, Kansas City, and Dorothy L. Stock, Leavenworth, Kan.
Mass of Christian Burial: 9 a.m. Saturday, Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: after noon Friday at the chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, a prayer service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday and a Daughters of Isabella and Knights of Columbus Council No. 571 rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and Bishop LeBlond High School.

Marilyn A.A. Beyer
1937-1999
CHILLICOTHE, Mo. -- Marilyn Alice Ann (Ronnebaum) Beyer, 61, Chillicothe, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at her residence.
Born in Seneca, Kan., on June 7, 1937, Mrs. Beyer had lived in Kansas City, Kan., and several other places before moving to South Kansas City, Mo., in 1980; Lexington, Mo., in 1987 and Chillicothe in 1998.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Chillicothe. She was a graduate of the Washington High School in Kansas City, Kan.
On July 13, 1963, she married Robert Beyer in Kansas City, Mo. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Beyer was preceded in death by her parents, John H. and Anna M. Ronnebaum; and a brother, Cletus Ronnebaum.
Additional survivors: two sons, Randal L. Simmons, Gladstone, Mo., and Martin J. Simmons of the home; a daughter, Lisa Graves, Chillicothe; two sisters, Rachel Montgomery, Kansas City, Kan., and Vera Shinn, Leawood, Kan.; a brother, Lyle Ronnebaum, Kansas City, Kan.; and five grandchildren.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Grace Episcopal Church, Chillicothe. The body has been cremated. Inurnment service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Edgewood Cemetery, Chillicothe. Arrangements: Norman-Wagy-Gordon Funeral Home, Chillicothe. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association in care of the funeral home or church.

F. Delores Fisher
1927-1999
BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- F. Delores (Bauer) Fisher, 72, Burnsville, formerly of St. Joseph, died Monday, April 19, 1999, at her residence.
Mrs. Fisher was born in Stewartsville, Mo., on April 2, 1927, and had lived in St. Joseph before moving to Burnsville in 1979.
She was a graduate of the Stewartsville high school and a homemaker. Mrs. Fisher was a member of the Mary Mother of the Church Catholic Church in Burnsville.
On April 9, 1945, she married Paul F. Fisher in St. Joseph. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Fisher was preceded in death by her parents, Garmon and Audrey Bauer.
Additional survivors: five sons, Francis, Rockford, Minn., Steve, Ozark, Mo., Chris, Burnsville, Bryan, St. Joseph, and Roger, Seattle, Wash; a daughter, Lisa Halvorson, Coon Rapids, Minn.; two brothers, Harry L. Bauer, Pueblo, Colo., and Larry W. Husker, Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Ila M. Kitzenberger, St. Joseph, and Velma Briscoe, Pueblo; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Prayer service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: after 9 a.m. today, at the chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 tonight and a rosary will be recited at 7 tonight. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association.

Frances George
1905-1999
NORTONVILLE, Kan. --Frances (Davidson) George, 93, Nortonville, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at a health-care center in Nortonville.
Born in Council Grove, Kan., on May 11, 1905, Mrs. George attended the rural Nortonville School No. 42.
On Oct. 6, 1930, she married Lee A. George in Falls City, Neb. They made their home and farmed in the Nortonville area. He died in 1983.
Mrs. George also was preceded in death by her parents, James and Maria Davidson.
Surviving: two sons, Robert, Nortonville, and James, Kansas City, Mo.; a sister, Mattie Robbins, Westminster, Calif.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial: 10 a.m. Monday, Monrovia, Kan., Cemetery. Visitation: 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, at the O'Trimble Funeral Home, Nortonville. There is no scheduled family visitation.

Kenneth B. Harris
1942-1999
ATCHISON, Kan. -- Kenneth Bryan Harris, 56, Atchison, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at his residence of cancer.
Mr. Harris had worked as a welder for the Atchison Casting Co. in Atchison for more than 33 years. During the Vietnam War, he served in the Navy.
Born in Atchison on July 17, 1942, he attended high school there. He was a member of the Faith Bible Fellowship and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1175, both of Atchison; and Steel Workers Union Local No. 6942.
On Nov. 21, 1964, he married Carol Colouris in Las Vegas, Nev. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors: a son, Kenneth B. II, Atchison; four daughters, Wendy Hess and Kena Ramirez, both of Atchison, Tracy Wenger, Fredericksberg, Va., and Terry Trimble, Platte City, Mo.; his mother, Naomi Harris, Atchison; two brothers, Michael and Donald, both of Atchison; a sister, Patricia Navinsky, Atchison; and 11 grandchildren.
Service: 3 p.m. Monday, Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison. Burial: Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison. Family visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Faith Bible Fellowship, Atchison, or American Cancer Society.

Eugene R. Hughes
1919-1999
Eugene R. "Gene" Hughes, 79, St. Joseph, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Hughes had worked as a heavy equipment salesman in Southern California until retiring in 1983. He also had been a field engineer for Beech Aircraft in Wichita, Kan. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps as a field engineer from 1944 to 1946.
Born in St. Joseph on June 24, 1919, he moved in 1929 to Kansas City, where he was reared and received his education. He had been a resident of St. Joseph since 1983.
Mr. Hughes was a member of the Ashland United Methodist Church, where he was active in the Wesleyan Sunday School Class; St. Joseph Masonic Lodge No. 78, A.F. & A.M.; 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason; Moila Shrine Temple; Masonic High-Twelve Club No. 49 and Eastside Rotary Club, of which he was a Paul Harris Fellow.
In 1943, he married Mary J. Woodfin in Wichita. She is deceased.
Then in 1979, he married Ruth S. Gnagy in Hawaii. They lived in Southern California until moving to St. Joseph. She survives of the home.
Mr. Hughes also was preceded in death by his parents, E.R. Sr. and Lillian.
Additional survivors: two daughters, Karen Blas, Westminster, Calif., and Sheryl Gurwell, Lakewood, Calif.; a brother, Robert E., St. Joseph; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Memorial service: 3 p.m. today, Ashland United Methodist Church. St. Joseph. The body has been cremated. Inurnment: at a later date, in the Oxford, Neb., Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements: Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the Ashland United Methodist Church or Shriners Childrens Hospital.

Victor L. Knepper
1910-1999
TARKIO, Mo. -- Victor Laurence Knepper, 88, Tarkio, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at the Fairfax, Mo., hospital.
Mr. Knepper began his teaching career in rural high schools beginning in 1930, and had been a teacher in Sikeston, Mo.; and Webster Groves, Mo.
Then he worked for Western Electric in Lincoln, Neb., from 1946 until moving in 1950 to Tarkio to farm.
In 1956, he returned to his teaching career at the Rock Port, Mo., School System and was there until 1959. He also was a teacher at the University City, Mo., and Webster Groves high schools from 1959 to 1977. In 1968, he wrote the ninth grade science curriculum for the State of Missouri. Mr. Knepper retired from teaching in 1976.
Born in Chattanooga, Okla., on Sept. 16, 1910, he moved that same year east of Fairfax. Mr. Knepper graduated from the Daleview Consolidated High School, east of Fairfax. He earned a bachelor of science degree in physics and chemistry at Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville, Mo.; a master's degree in counseling from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.; and a master's degree in science education from Oregon State of Corvallis, Ore. He moved to Tarkio in 1977.
During World War II, he served in the Navy as a lieutenant.
Mr. Knepper was a member of the Tarkio Presbyterian Church, where he had served as elder; Farm Bureau; Phi Kappa Delta fraternity; National Retired Science Teachers; Missouri State Teachers Association and Tarkio Rotary Club. He is a former leader for the York 4-H Club of Tarkio.
On Nov. 25, 1937, he married Helen Irvine in Tarkio. She survives of the home.
Mr. Knepper was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Malinda; and two brothers, John and George.
Additional survivors: a son, Irvine, Houston, Texas; a daughter, Kathryn Roblee, Perry, Iowa; and five grandchildren.
Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Presbyterian Church, Tarkio. Burial: Home Cemetery, Tarkio. Visitation: 9 a.m. today, at the Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight. Memorials may be made to the Tarkio Presbyterian Church.

Thelma M. McMillen
1918-1999
GRANT CITY, Mo. -- Thelma M. McMillen, 80, Grant City, died Wednesday, April 21, 1999, at a health-care center in Grant City.
Mrs. McMillen had been a manager for the Old American Insurance in Albany, Mo., until retiring.
Born in McAlester, Okla., on May 7, 1918, she moved to Worth, Mo., and had been a resident of the Albany area since 1938.
She was a graduate of the Chillicothe, Mo., Business College.
Mrs. McMillen was a member of the Albany Christian Church and the Business and Professional Women's Club of Albany.
On June 28, 1941, she married Thorwaldson L. McMillen in St. Joseph. He died in 1990.
Mrs. McMillen also was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Surviving: two sons, Thorwaldson L. II, Kalamazoo, Mich., and George A., Shawnee, Kan.; a daughter, Thora L. Craven, Denver, Mo.; a brother, Jesse Clark, Hutchinson, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Service: 3 p.m. Sunday, Johnson Chapel, Albany. Burial: Miriam Cemetery, Bethany, Mo. Visitation: after 9 a.m. Sunday, at the funeral chapel. There is no scheduled family visitation.

Nellie M. Asmussen
1910-1999
Nellie Marie (Waltrip) Asmussen, 89, St. Joseph, died Friday, April 23, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mrs. Asmussen was a sales clerk at Montgomery Ward and Co. at East Hills Shopping Center in St. Joseph for 15 years.
Born in Canton, Ill., on Feb. 7, 1910, she lived in Davenport, Iowa, until moving with her family to St. Joseph in 1949.
Mrs. Asmussen was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, St. Joseph; Mother Church of Christ Scientist, Boston; St. Joseph Assembly No. 7, Order of Rainbow for Girls, of which she was a past mother adviser and served on the board; Order of the Eastern Star, Davenport; St. Joseph chapter No. 198, Order of the Eastern Star; and Social Order of the Beauceant; auxiliary of the Moila Shrine Temple; Elizabeth Prescott Club; and Belles and Beaux pattern dance club, all of St. Joseph.
In September of 1928, she married Carl T. Asmussen. He died in 1977.
Mrs. Asmussen also was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton O. and Iva L. Waltrip; and three brothers, a sister and a grandchild.
Surviving: a son, Robert H., St. Joseph; a daughter, Irene M. Remy, Shawnee, Kan.; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Graveside service and burial: 3 p.m. Monday, Memorial Park Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation: after noon today at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight.

Jeanne F. Brewer
1922-1999
SPRINGDALE, Ark. -- Jeanne F. (Ferguson) Brewer, 77, Springdale, formerly of St. Joseph, died Thursday, April 22, 1999, at her residence.
Mrs. Brewer was employed by National Bellas Hess in St. Joseph and Kansas City. She also was a comptometer operator and section head for 26 years. In 1969, she moved to Denver where she worked as a PBX operator in the Visa department of the Colorado National Bank for 14 years and as a cashier for Montgomery Ward and Co. in Denver until retiring in 1982. Mrs. Brewer moved to Springdale in 1983.
Born in Bolckow, Mo., on March 28, 1922, she was a graduate of the Bolckow high school. She moved to St. Joseph in 1940.
Mrs. Brewer was a member of the Francis Street First United Methodist Church in St. Joseph.
On March 17, 1938, she married Vernon L. Brewer. He died in 1962.
Mrs. Brewer also was preceded in death by her father, Jay Ferguson; her mother, Gladys Ferguson Appleton; and her stepfather, Cecil Appleton.
Surviving: a daughter, Judith A. Townsend, Fayetteville, Ark.; a half brother, Edward Appleton, Daytona Beach, Fla.; a half sister, Harriet Jones, Hopkins, Mo.; and two grandchildren, including Whitney J. Townsend of the home, who cared for her.
Graveside service and burial: 2 p.m. today, Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: after 9 a.m. today at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Memorials may be made to the National Organ Donors Organization of Washington, D.C.

Wilma M. Butzer
1919-1999
MOUND CITY, Mo. -- Wilma M. (Keever) Butzer, 79, Mound City, died Friday, April 23, 1999, at the Fairfax, Mo., hospital.
Mrs. Butzer, a homemaker, also had worked as a waitress at the former Black's Caf in Mound City.
Born near Skidmore, Mo., on Dec. 14, 1919, she attended school in the Skidmore system.
She married J. Woodrow Wilson. They were later divorced. Then on Aug. 30, 1957, she married Floyd Butzer. He died in 1996.
Mrs. Butzer also was preceded in death by two sons, Jack and Joseph Wilson; her parents, John C. and Cora E. Keever; three brothers, Dillard, Arthur and Robert Keever; three sisters, Mildred Crockett, Nora Wilson and Roberta Brown; and a great-grandchild.
Surviving: a stepson, Fred Butzer, Maitland, Mo.; a daughter, Janice Cornelius, St. Joseph; two stepdaughters, Jeanie P. Reed, St. Joseph, and Janice Waggoner, Escondido, Calif.; two brothers, Junior Reed, Greeley, Colo., and John C. Reed Jr., Vernal, Utah; two sisters, Eva M. Lynch, Vista, Calif., and Neva Bammer, Mound City; 12 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City. Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City. Visitation: after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home. There is no scheduled family visitation. Memorials may be made to the Community Hospital in Fairfax.
