Carolyn Sue Ousley, daughter of James A. Medlock and Rheba (Carson) Medlock, was death by her father, James A. Medlock and one brother, Jimmy Medlock.
She is survived by her mother and step-father, Rheba and Gene Pool, Ava; two half brothers and their spouses, Roger and Bev Johnson, and Bill and Debbie Johnson, all of Ava; her husband, Bruce Ousley, Branson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services for Carolyn will be at 10 a.m. today (Thursday, Oct. 25), in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Robert Roberts officiating. Cemetery. Visitation was held from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. The family requests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Velva (Hunt) Ellison, 89

Velva Izora (Hunt) Ellison, 89, born on Aug. 9, 1918, near Ava, (Little Beaver area near Arno), in Douglas County, to David Willey Hunt Sr. and Dulcie Ann Huffman Hunt. Velva was a 1939 graduate of Rogers, Ark., High School. She loved life, enjoyed crocheting, music and was a gifted guitarist and vocalist, often performing on radio before television and more often performing at local square dance gatherings in and around Ava.
Velva was preceded in Cemetery with the Rev. Marty Blakey, local Methodist minister, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials donations can be made to a favorite charity or to your local church. Services were conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Anna Marie (Blakey) Goss, 78

Anna Marie Goss, 78, Harrisonville, Mo, formerly of Ava, born May 8, 1929, the daughter of Ousley Grover and Cleffie Mae (Hennings) Blakey, of Rome, Mo. She was the third of eight children. Anna grew up in hard times but had many good childhood memories. She loved having seven brothers and sisters and was never without a playmate. She loved to go fishing with her dad and learned to bake the best pies from her mother. She cherished growing up in a large loving family.
Anna attended the Walnut Grove School and graduated from Ava High School with the class of 1947. Anna death by her parents, Ousley Grover Blakey and Cleffie Mae Hennings Blakey, of Rome; brothers Clarence Blakey, Basil Blakey and Howard Blakey, all of the Ava area, and sisters Blanche Ostrom, of California, Nellie Rosseau, Ava and Joyce Rackley, of Kansas City.
Anna is survived by her husband of 59 years, John Elmer Goss Sr. of the home; one brother, George Blakey and his wife, Violet, of Ava; and five children, John E. Goss Jr., Brenda Sweitzer, James Goss, and Linda Hetherington, all of Harrisonville, and Rebecca Davis, Paola, Kan.; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and many relatives in the Ava area.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, in the Clinking¬beard Chapel, Ava, with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Spring Creek born May 9, 1958, in Brushyknob, Mo., and entered his heavenly Father's Kingdom Nov. 26, 2007 at the age of 49 years, 6 months and 17 days.
He was preceded in Interment will follow in the Evansdale born May 8, 1909, in Douglas County near Crossroads, Mo., and departed this life Nov. 27, 2007 at the age of 98 years 6 months and 19 days.
Trellis Ellison Dewhirst grew up in the Crossroads community and had the privilege of attending the first demonstration school sponsored by what is now Southwest Missouri State University. After finishing eighth grade, she entered Ava High School and was graduated in 1927. Her mother had death in 1929.
She then entered SMSU in Springfield and went to college for two years before being hired to teach in a rural school in Ozark County at Souder. After two years at Souder, she was hired to teach the seventh grade in the Ava school system. Later she was placed in the high school where she taught business and girls' physical education. Trellis received her bachelor of science degree in education in 1940, with departmental honors in business, which was her major.
Trellis helped organize FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) in the Ava school system and took students to six national conferences held all over the United States to compete in various contests.
Trellis was death by parents, her husband, one brother, Cap Ellison, two sisters Una Ellison and Minnie Dean. She is survived by many, many friends.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Marty Blakey and Rev. Oren Alcorn officiating. Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, 9 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to the Douglas County Library.
Robert Clovis Fisher, 84

Bob Fisher was passed away on March 9, 2005, in Sacramento, Calif., form complications of a stroke he suffered a few years ago.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Jean Fisher; his daughter, Cheryl Hronec, of Sacramento, Calif.; his sons, Daryl Fisher, and wife, Mary Lynn, of West Sacramento, Calif., and Greg Fisher, and wife, Kelly, of Sacramento, Calif.; his beloved grandchildren, Bryan, Marc, Eric, Carrie, Ty, Paul and Kyle; his sister-in-law, Marjorie Roper, and husband, Vance, of Springfield; his brother-in-law, Bill Cline, and wife, Linda, of Davis, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Zola Fisher, Sacramento, Calif.; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Glen and Adelaide Cline, of Ava.
Bob and Jean moved to West Sacramento, Calif., and started their family shortly after he returned from World War II, where he served for over three years in the Pacific with the 33rd Infantry Division, seeing military action in New Guinea and the Philippines.
Bob worked as an electrician for 39 years for the Southern Pacific Railroad before retiring in 1984. He was also very active in his electrician’s union and held a number of union offices over the years. After his retirement, he loved to travel up and down the state of California in his Winnebago, made numerous trips back to the Midwest to visit relatives, and he also enjoyed reading, camping, gambling at Lake Tahoe casinos, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a gentle and caring man who worked hard all his life and was dedicated to his wife and family. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
At Bob’s request, no funeral services will be held. His ashes will be scattered at his favorite campsite by his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
