Clyde Dewell Hector, son of Alva Hector and Lela Lumsden Hector, was passed away on June 21, 2008 in Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare, Ava, Mo., at the age of 82 years.
Clyde was a resident of Ava for the past nine plus years, moving from California. Clyde was a retired chef with a hospital. He was a veteran and served in World War II and Korea with the U.S. Army.
In 1947 Clyde and Sue Adams were united in marriage in Jonesboro, Ark., and to this union four children were death.
On April 10, 1999, Clyde and Freda (Adams) Rhoads were united in marriage in Napa Valley, Calif., in a General Baptist Church. Clyde was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in California, and the Ava General Baptist Church.
Clyde's favorite hobby of all time was fishing. In late years, he also enjoyed traveling the countryside and visiting friends and family.
Clyde was preceded in born Dec. 3, 1924, in Ava, Mo., to Elmer and Rosa (Brown) Davis. He grew up in Ava and graduated from Ava High School. He then served his country in World War II in the 12th Division, Army Engineers, serving one year in Germany and then with the occupation forces in Japan.
As a businessman in Ava for more than 40 years, Gene operated the Davis Brothers Tire Shop and dearly loved his cattle buying and selling. Gene was an avid sportsman, traveling to western states hunting elk, deer, pheasants, and loved hunting quail at home.
He was a Christian and a member of the Nazarene Church for 55 years in Ava and Nixa.
Gene and Hazel Myers were united in marriage by the Rev. James Russell in Mansfield, Mo., on Dec. 30, 1943, enjoying 64-plus years of marriage. To this union one daughter, Connie, and a son, Lyle Wayne, were death.
Gene is survived by his wife, Hazel, of Nixa, Mo.; his daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Chris Carver, of Monett, Mo., two granddaughters, Christy Leilani Carver, of Lawrence, Kan., and Carissa Kell and husband, Ryan, of Eudora, Kan.; and a daughter-in-law, Anita Davis Shirkey, of Springfield.
Along with his son, Lyle, preceding in Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday from 6 till 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating were Pastor Gary Swearengin, Pastor Oren Alcorn and the Rev. Chris Carver. Abigail Renee Clayton, 21

Abigail Renee Clayton, the daughter of William "Bill" Clayton and Elizabeth (Satterfield) Linder, was passed away June 19, 2008 at the age of 21 years 9 months and 20 days.
Abigail was a resident of Brimfield for the past three months moving from Yates City, Ill. She was employed as a service representative with Maui Jim, a sunglass company. She also had worked as a nurse's aid in Gainesville, Mo.
Abigail loved driving and swimming with her friends. She loved to laugh and would do anything for anyone. She was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger.
Abigail was preceded in Interment followed in the Murray Cemetery in LeClaire. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice.
Mr. Miller born Sept. 10, 1927, in Brixey, Mo., the son of Claude and Doshia (Leek) Miller. Therman death on April 21, 1998. Therman was employed at the Rock Island Arsenal as a drawbridge operator. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a former member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Davenport.
Surviving are his daughter, Gwen Dykes of LeClaire; a son, Dennis Miller of Stone Lake, Wisc.; grandchildren, Lisa (Pat) O'Connor and Matthew and Christopher Dykes, all of LeClaire; a sister, AIlie (Henderson) Gentry of Ava; brothers, Lavern (Jessie Mae) Miller of Willow Springs, Dorman (Song) Miller of Bettendorf, Iowa, Willis (Sandy) Miller of DeWitt, Iowa, and George (Deanna) Miller of Greyling, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in passed away June 5, 2008, at the age of 90 years.
She was preceded in Interment was at Greenwood born Sept. 20, 1960, in Clinton, Okla., and passed away on April 6, 2008, at the home of her parents in Ava, Mo.
Beverly lived in Ava from 1960 to 1975 at which time the family moved to Tallahassee, Fla. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1978. Feeling the urge to travel, she then lived in Alexandria, Monterey, Key West and Maui. In the early summer of 1991, Bev and her brother, Brian, headed to Alaska to "see the sights." They traveled through many western states and Canada and settled in Juneau when their traveling money ran out. Beverly continued her travels and moved back to Maui, where she lived until 1996. She then returned to Juneau and started working for the Alaska Marine Highway System. In 2002, Beverly met her soon-to-be husband, Paul Merrill, who was a Deck Officer on the State Ferries. They were wed in Maui on April 29, 2006. They made their home in Bellingham, Wash.
In their short but precious time together, they shared many memories. Diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2005, Beverly fought a gallant battle and never complained. She made the best of all the time she had traveling, visiting friends and family who she cherished above all else. She was a friend to all that knew her, and was loved by everyone. She will be missed deeply.
Beverly is survived by her husband, Paul, of Bellingham, Wash.; her parents, Charles (Bud) and Betty Howe, of Ava, Mo.; three brothers, Robert Howe and wife, Kathy, and children, Amy and Calen, of Morrisville, Mo., Brian Howe his wife, Michelle, and daughters, Jennifer and Erin of Anchorage, Alaska, and Barton Howe and his wife, Debbie, and son, Tyler, of Warrensburg, Mo.
In keeping with Beverly's wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes will be spread in Maui, Hawaii. A celebration of her life is planned for 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the home of her parents in Ava, Mo. Friends of the family are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Beverly to Ava's Neighbor Helping Neighbor in c/o of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
