Millie Adams

Millie Marie Adams, 56, of Gideon, Mo., died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.

Born Aug. 2, 1946, in Barien, Mich., daughter of the late John and Maggie Morgan Eaves, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gideon.

On April 18, 2000, in Gideon, she married Harvie Gene Adams, who preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 2002.

Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Williams, of St. Louis, Mo. and two brothers, David Eaves, of Fulton, Mo. and John Eaves.

Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. today, Thursday, April 17, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Gideon.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will follow at the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton, Mo.

veteran William Bowling

William Monroe Bowling, 81, of Campbell, Mo., died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born May 20, 1921, in Plumerville, Ark., son of the late William Luther and Florence Guiling Bowling, he was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during WWII, a farmer and realtor. He was a member of the Campbell Rotary Club, the Campbell American Legion Post 109 and a member of the Missouri Board of Realtors.

On June 28, 19419, in Campbell, he married Martha Runnels, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one daughter, Suetta Veatch; one son, Gary Bowling and wife, Marsha; four grandchildren, Tamara M. Gowin, William M. Bowling, Rebecca V. Hays and Christopher L. Veatch and 11 great-grandchildren, Garrett, Mason, Jacob and Hailey Bowling, Corey and Zach Gowin, Raven Morphis and Adam, William, Taylor and Carson Hays.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Billie Fern Bowling; twins; one brother, John Isom Bowling and one sister, Josephine Garrison.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, April 17, at the Landess Funeral Home in Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the General Baptist Church in Campbell with the Rev. Ronnie Stevens and Pastor Earl D. Dell officiating.

Burial will follow at the Woodlawn cemetery in Campbell.

A.J. Earls

A.J. Earls, 89, of Kennett, died today, Thursday, April 17, 2003, at his residence.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.

Goldie Phillips

Goldie Phillips, 71, of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at her residence.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden.

Ethel Stinson

Ethel Stinson, 95, of Keokuk, Iowa, formerly of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at Keokuk Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden.

Alice Watson

Alice Watson, 95, of Hollister, Mo., formerly of Malden, Mo., died Monday, April 14, 2003, at her residence.

Born Jan. 23, 1908, in Flowerlake, Miss., she was a member of the New Life Temple Church in Hollister.

Survivors include six sons, William Shan and wife, Dixie, of Moberly, Mo., J.C. Watson and wife, Imogene and Robert Watson and wife, Louise, all of Malden, Henry Watson and wife, Ernestine, of Oglesby, Ill., Gayle Watson and wife, Pat, of Utica, Ill. and Wayne Watson, of Hollister; four daughters, Novella Taylor and husband, Ernest, of Hollister, Ruby Parks and husband, Clarence, of Malden, Ruth Ruby and husband, John, of Branson, Mo. and Mary Haney and husband, Dudley, of Springfield, Mo.; 47 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Robert Shan.

Visitation will be from noon until 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the Church of God in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 18 at the Church of God with the Rev. James Wampler officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Park cemetery in Malden.

Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden is in charge of arrangements.

Frank Passley

Morn Franklin "Frank" Passley, 65, of Campbell, Mo., died Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at his residence.

Born Jan. 28, 1938, in Charleston, Mo., he was the son of the late Joseph Daniel and Mary Elizabeth Dillie Passley. He was a farmer and a member of the United Methodist Church in Campbell.

On April 15, 1962 in Florida, he married Sarah Stolar, who survives.

Survivors also include one son, Marvin Franklin Bragg, of Mascot, Fla., three daughters, Mary Elizabeth Passley and Catherine Frances Provorse, both of Campbell, and Debra Sue Cason, of Savannah, Ga.; three brothers, Martin and Thomas Passley, both of Bernie, and Joseph Passley, of Malden; seven sisters, Gay Dawn Thacker, of Campbell, Mary Lou Solomon and Jean Colter, both of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Dorthey Wolfe of Ft. Meade, Fla., Jo Ann Brown of Auburndale, Fla., Dianna Kent, of Ocay, Fla. and Beverly Treat, of Campbell; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Passley, and three sisters, Etta Vincent, Mildred Louise Passley and Alice Kemp.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, with the Rev. Karen Blank-Ewell and the Rev. Ruth Edwards officiating.

Goldie Phillips

Goldie Mae Phillips, 74, of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at her residence.

Born October 13, 1928, in McDougal, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Jessie Stella James Neeley. She was a member of the Spoonerville Baptist Church in Malden.

On July 19, 1946 in Corning, Ark., she married Elmer Phillips, who survives.

Survivors also include one daughter, Debbie Phillips, of Malden; one brother, Junior Wayne Neeley, of Fountain Inn, S.C.; two sisters, Evalena Nash, of Kennett and Lorraine Lee of Avon, Ind.; two grandchildren, Jeremy Foulks and Tyler House and 34 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Englehardt and Arthur Neeley and one sister, Elsa Mena Rawls.

Visitation services will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, April 18, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, in the Bradshaw Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

Burial will follow in the Rosewood cemetery in Malden.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Ethel Stinson

Ethel Velvie Stinson, 96, of Keokuk, Iowa, formerly of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk.

Born April 6, 1907 in McGee, Mo., she was the daugther of the late John Wilmer and Pearl Grace Woolard Robertson.

On July 4, 1931, in Parma, Mo., she married Loren Greene Stinson, who preceded her in death on April 1, 1975.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Hershel Stinson; one daughter, Shirley Niswonger; five brothers, Oatley, Edward, Elmer, William and Marvin Robertson; two sisters; four granchildren, Debbie and Frankie Niswonger and Crystal and Mellissa Stinson and one great-grandchild, Cody Myers.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at the Bradshaw Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Daniel Hale officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery at Malden.

A.J. Earls

A.J. Earls, 89, of Kennett, died Thursday, April 17, 2003 at his residence.

Alvin John (A.J.) Earls was born January 3, 1914 in Cooter, Missouri to A.T. and Mary Rose Earls. He moved to Steele at an early age where he attended the Steele school system.

He joined the Army on June 20, 1939 in San Francisco, California. He was a rifleman with the 290th Infantry and saw action in Ardennes, The Rhineland and Renandamont, Belgium.

During his service he was awarded two Bronze service medals, Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart. A.J. was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge.

A.J. was discharged on November 25, 1945.

After returning home, he entered the real estate business with his father A.T. Earls.

He served as president of the Southeast Board of Realtors in 1961-1962. He retired from the real estate business in 1975 and devoted all of his time to his family and farms.

The Pemiscot County Soil and Water Conservation District awarded A.J. the Goodyear Cooperator of the Year Award in 1993.

On June 29, 1963, in Braggadocio, Mo., A.J. married LaVennia Rikard Chailland. LaVennia and A.J. attended the Shady Grove Baptist Church. They served several years on the Board of the Bootheel Senior Citizen Club in Kennett.

A.J. was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, LaVennia Earls, two brothers, Lyndell and Raymond and two sisters, Opal Atwill and Amy Doris Earls and one grandson, Chester Chailland.

He is survived by two sons Donald Chailland and Darlene Clair of New Orleans, La., James Hassell Chailland and Connie Jo of Wentzville, Mo. and one daughter Charlotte Gore and Paul of Tampa, Fl., one sister-in-law Frances Marie Bowman and Jess of St. Peters, Mo. Four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, four nephews and two nieces as well as many friends.

The funeral will be under the directions of the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett. Visitation will be at Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the funeral 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Lewis officiating.

Burial will be in the Mt. Zion cemetery in Steele, Mo. The Pallbearers will be C.L. "Tite" Williams, Pete Cross, Don Watson, Paul Cuff, Roger Wheeler, Dale Beaty, Joe Tidwell and Richard Luye.

Helen Williams

Helen Maxine Williams, 74, of Risco, Mo., died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at Methodist North Medical Center, Memphis, Tenn.

Born May 31, 1928, at Alton, Mo., a daughter of the late George and Chloe May Murry McClanahan, she was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Risco.

On July 22, 1942, in Pocahontas, Ark., she married Eugene Williams who survives of the home.

Other survivors include six daughters, Shirley Fraley and husband, Ken, of Memphis, Tenn., Doris Griffin and husband Robert of Sheridan, Ark., Glenda Case and husband, Richard, of Risco, Janet Woods and husband, Robert, of Caledonia, Mo., Sharon Musgraves and husband, Curt, of Campbell, Angela Kirksey and husband, Tommy, of Lakeland, Tenn.; two sons, Terry Williams and Danny Williams, both of Risco; two sisters, Lorene Whitworth, Peoria, Ill., and Virginia Vest of Madison, Ill.; 25 grandchildren and 28 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Doyle McClanahan and Noel McClanahan.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19, in Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Gene Lancaster officiating.

Burial was in Rosewood cemetery in Malden.
