Florie Carter

Florie J. Carter, 98, of Pevely, Mo., formerly of the Kennett area, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Crystal City, Mo.

Born March 30, 1905, in Hamilton, Ala., daughter of the late Tom and Belle Mills Carter, she was a homemaker and a member of the Twin City Church of Christ in Festus, Mo.

She married Eldon Carter, who preceded her in death on March 3, 1992. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Levi, Johnson, Perry and Monroe Carter and three sisters, Carrie Shackelford, Eula Mae Sanderson and Karry Carter.

Survivors include two daughters, Derriel G. Vanskike and husband, Howard, of St. Louis, Mo. and Jerriel F. Varner and husband, Darrel, of St. Clair, Mo.; two sons, Thomas E. Carter and wife, Carolyn and Kenneth E. Carter and wife, Debra, all of Barnhart, Mo.; one brother, Charles "Charlie" Carter, of Alabama; two sisters, Agile Cook and husband, Cecil and Rosie Jeffries, all of Minnesota; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, April 24, at the Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home in Pevely.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 25, at the Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Bahr officiating.

Burial will follow at the Shepherd Hills cemetery in Barnhart.

Memorials may be made to the Twin City Church of Christ in Festus, Mo.

Frank Cole

Frank Cole, 68, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Tueday, April 22, 2003, at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, Ark.

Born Nov. 27, 1934, in Camden, Tenn., he was the son of the late Harvey and Addie Ozbun Cole.

On May 9, 1953, in Paragould, he married Joy Martin, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include three sons, Terry Cole and wife, Barbara, of Paragould, George Cole and wife, Debbie, of Arbyrd and Tony Cole and wife, Lisa, of McDougal, Ark.; two brothers, Jack Cole, of Marmaduke, Ark. and H.N. Cole, of Trimble, Tenn.; one sister, Marie Archabald, of Paragould, Ark.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one step-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. today, Thursday, April 24, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Arbyrd with the Rev. Tracy Archbald officiating.

Burial was in the Silverdale cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bill and George Cole, Edward Oden, James Fouse, Gary Archabald and Terry Rouse.

Delbert Ford

D.L. "Delbert" Ford, 76, of Senath, Mo., died Monday, April 21, 2003, at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, Ark.

Born July 10, 1926, in Beech Corner, Mo., he was the son of the late William Louis and Myrtle Clercy Rosenbaum.

On May 24, 1954, in Caruthersville, Mo., he married Mary Nell Baker, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include two sons, Larry and Eddie Ford, both of Senath; two daughters, Nancy Rudd and husband, Kenny, of Wappappello, Mo. and Bonnie Ford, of White Bluff, Tenn.; one brother, Robert R. Ford, of Arnold, Mo.; two sisters, Imogene Sherrod and Gwendolyn Horton, both of Senath; three grandchildren, Echo Duncan, Sarah Rudd and Tiffany Ford; one step-grandchild, Angel Birmingham; one great-grandchild, Charles Duncan and two step-great-grandchildren, Shawn and Tyler Birmingham.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, Willie and Glen H. Ford and one sister, Lera Watson.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, April 24, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with the Rev. Derek Combs officiating.

Burial was in the McGrew cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bob Holder, Pat Skelton, Richard Oxbun, Gerald Duncan, Wayne Krantz and Jim Hayes.

Linda Ford

Linda June Ford, 63, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Monday, April 21, 2003, at the Desperes Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

Born Aug. 13, 1939, in Paragould, Ark., she was the daughter of the late William Eugene and Bertha Olga Abernathy Shirley.

On June 29, 1963, in Piggott, Ark., she married Elmer Ford, who preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1999. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Shirley.

Survivors include one son, Jeff Ford and wife, Diane, of Pacific, Mo.; one daughter, Penny Gentry and husband, Dan, of Scott City, Mo.; one sister, Peggy Wiebusch, of Fridley, Minn. and three grandchildren, Jordan Elizabeth Gentry and Candice Nicole and Joseph William Ford.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with the Rev. Denny Brown officiating.

Burial was in the McGrew cemetery.

Pallbearers were Sam Massey, Bobby McGrew, Troy Alley, Jamie Bruce, Keith Morgan and Denny Brown.

Juanita Gozell

Jaunita Gozell, 72, of Hornersville, Mo., died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at her residence.

Born April 1, 1931, in Hornersville, daughter of the late Thomas and Floradell Matheny McGuire, she was a homemaker.

She was married to John W. Gozell.

Survivors include three daughters, Twilla Cheatham and husband, Steve, of Yazoo City, Miss. and Cathy Ward and husband, Keivan and Terry Gozell, all of Hornersville; three sons, John Mark Gozell and wife, Ruby, of Hornersville, Mike Gozell and wife, Vicki, of Kennett and Martin Gozell and wife, Carol, of Blytheville, Ark.; three sisters, Ann Sue Followell and husband, Virgil and Butone Houseeman and husband, Dick, all of Arbyrd, Mo., and Gertie Branch and husband, Bill, of Cardwell, Mo.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Hunt.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Thursday, April 24, at the Bradshaw-Emerson Funeral Home in Hornersville.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the Trinity Community Church in Cardwell with the Rev. Kevin Knox officiating. Burial will be in the Horner cemetery at Hornersville.

Pallbearers will be the Midsouth Crossbearers, Chapter No.734.

Honorary pallbearers will be Marty, Max Ray and Mark Moore, Rick Bibbs and Joe Buck.

Nelson Holbert

Nelson Holbert, 87, of Senath, Mo., formerly of Deering, Mo., died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, Ark.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, April 24, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 25, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayland Tom officiating.

Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.

Charles Horne

Charles Andrew Horne, 56, of Kennett, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.

Born Dec. 13, 1946, in Brownwood, Texas, son of Earnest Truitt Horne, of Salem, Ore. and Teresa Harden Horne, of Burton, Texas, he was a nurse practioner and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Kennett. He was a member of the Dunklin County Health Board, the Missouri Association of Nurse Practioner, serving as secretary, vice president and president and he was also honored in Washington D.C. in 1998 when he was named Nurse Practioner for the State of Missouri.

On April 16, 1988, in California, he married Jean Hendrix, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include four sons, Glen Horne, of College Station, Texas, Eugene Donald Horne, of Weaverville, N.C., Randall Charles Boone, of Scramento, Calif. and Russell Darin Boone, of Stockton, Calif.; one brother, Buddy Horne, of Houston, Texas and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be set at a later date.

Bobby Horton

Bobby Horton, 67, of Wentzville, Mo., formerly of Campbell, Mo., died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at the Gardenview Care Center in Chesterfield, Mo.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the Landess Funeral Home of Campbell.

Susie Rutledge

Susie Orene Rutledge, 88, of Bernie, Mo., died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born March 21, 1915, in Bellefontaine, Miss., daughter of the late James and Janie Richards Tillman, she was a homemaker and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Bernie.

On Feb. 2, 1938, in Bellafontaine, she married Johnnie Rutledge, who preceded her in death on April 19, 1995.

Survivors include one son, Johnie Jackson Rutledge, of Parma, Mo.; two daughters, Virginia Walker and Mary Shobe, both of Parma; three brothers, Evonn Tillman, of Sikeston, Mo., Johnny C. Tillman, of Champaign-Urbana, Ill. and Fred Tillman, of Rantoul, Ill; one sister, Magnolia Jamerson, of Urbana, Ill. and seven grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till noon, Saturday, April 26, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday, April 26, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Aikens officiating.

Burial will follow at the Macedonia cemetery in Malden, Mo.

Clyde Bolton

Clyde H. Bolton, 96, of Puxico, Mo., formerly of Rector, Ark., died Thursday, April 24, 2003, at his home.

Born March 20, 1907, in Rector, a son of the late John and Ella Bolton, he was a mechanic and attended First Church of God in Piggott, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice.

Surviving are three sons, Herbert Bolton, Leroy Bolton and Joe Bolton, all of Piggott; four daughters, Norma Thompson of Paragould, Ark., Glenda Watts of Flushing, Mich., Vonna Jean Cummings of Jonesboro, Ark. and Sandra Kilbreth of Puxico; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Sunday, April 27, at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, at the First Church of God in Piggott with Brother Gene Madigan officiating.

Burial will be in Woodland Heights cemetery.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Billy Burson

Billy Paul "Bill" Burson, 74, of Holcomb, Mo., died Friday, April 25, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with Landess Funeral Home of Campbell, Mo.
