Evelynn M. Gow
Dec. 1, 1927 - Sept. 19, 2003
Evelynn M. “Honey” Gow, 75, of Kansas City, Mo., died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at the Newmark Care Center in Kansas City, Mo., after an illness.
Evelynn was born on Dec. 1, 1927, the daughter of Harvey and Hazel Fessler, in Kansas City, Kans., and was a lifelong area resident. She had been a Chief Operator and Manager of Southwestern Bell for 30 years, retiring in 1981 and was a co-owner of G&G Ceramics. She was a member of Bristol Hills United Methodist Church and a volunteer for Cancer Action, Inc.
She married Harry C. Gow on March 18, 1954. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2002. Also preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
She is survived by sons and their wives, Harvey “Bud” and Dianna Gow of Noel, Mo., and Scott and Therasa Gow of Kansas City, Mo.; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jennifer Brown and children, Kristen and Heather of Noel, Mo.; Charles Harr and his children, Leanne, Shawn and Ryan. Charles is serving in the Army and has been stationed in Bagdad for eight months, currently stationed in Germany; Matthew Gow of Noel, Mo.; Sarah and Tony Torres and their children, Amanda and Miranda of Anderson, Mo.; Katrina and Zack Lane and their children, Haley and Tendon of Noel, Mo.; Joshua, Sarah, and Kassie Gow of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers Lawrence Fessler of Emporia, Kans., and Harold Fessler of Phillipsburg, Kans.; a sister, Mabel Gibbs of Kansas City, Mo.
Graveside services for Evelynn M. “Honey” Gow were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at the Noel Cemetery in Noel, Mo. The Rev. Charles Chrisman officiated.
Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer’s Association or Cancer Action, Inc., in care of the funeral home.
Arrangements were under the direction of Ozark Funeral Home in Noel, Mo.

Bessie Bigo Shumate
Dec. 25, 1916 - Sept. 26, 2003
Bessie Shumate was born on Dec. 25, 1916, Globe, Ariz. She passed away peacefully in her home in Anderson at 6:45 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, 2003.
Bess was raised in Los Angeles, Washington State, and John and wife Michelle of Anderson, Mo., and David and wife Peggy, of Jane, Mo. They have six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Isaac and Elizabeth Shumate, Jacob, Katharine and Judah Reut, Josh Bowers and his son Brett; one sister Zorka Calif.
Bess and Baylous moved to Anderson, Mo., in 1962 after Baylous retired from the Navy. They spent the first 25 years of their marriage moving all over the U.S. finally settling down in the Ozarks, which they both loved.
Bess was very dedicated to her husband and children. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1959. She loved talking to people about her faith, and the wonderful promises the Bible holds out for the future. She made her home welcome to all. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial services were 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Anderson, Mo. Ken Johannesen of Springdale, Ark., officiating.
The family requests, instead of flowers, that donations are made to the Kingdom Hall in Anderson.
Arrangements were under the direction of Ozark Funeral Home, Anderson, MO.

Carolyn Gregory
Feb. 7, 1936 - Sept. 25, 2003
Mary Carolyn Gregory, 67, of Jane, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at 9:30 a.m. at her home after an illness.
Carolyn was born Feb. 7, 1936 in Monteagle, Tenn., to the late Harry E. and Wilma Francis (Farmer) Metcalfe. She had lived in Jane, Mo, for the past five years coming from Springdale, Ark. She worked as a nurse’s aide for over 30 years, working at both nursing homes and hospitals. She attended the White Rock Church of Christ in Jane, Mo.
She is survived by her two sons, Tony Gregory of Cleveland, Tenn., and Philip Gregory of Pineville, Mo. Two daughters Wanda Coberley and husband David, of Jane, Mo., and Amy Forrest and husband Michael of Rogers, Ark. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
The graveside service for Carolyn Gregory was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at the Jane Cemetery in Jane, Mo. Minister Delmer Andrews officiated.

Patrick Pierce
March 25, 1954-Sept. 27, 2003
Patrick Gene Pierce, 49, of Anderson, Mo., died Saturday, September 27, 2003, at 3:39 p.m. at Freeman-Neosho Hospital ER in Neosho, Mo., after an illness.
Patrick Pierce was born on March 25, 1954, in Austin, Texas. He was a member of the River Oaks Methodist Church in Ft.. Worth, Texas, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services for Patrick Pierce was 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003 at the Anderson First baptist Church in Anderson, Mo. Pastor Pat Jeffers officiated. Burial was in the Cummings Cemetery in Tiff City, Mo.
Pallbearers were Bill Martin, Nick Martin, Dewey Pierce, Jerry Mann, Mack Kauffman and Blake Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Thompson, Randy Thompson, David Thompson, Jerry Iowa to the late Melvin Harrison and Letha Marie (Harvey) Sellers. He had lived in Jane, Mo., since 1983, coming from What Cheer, Iowa, Chester Sellers of Glenwood, Iowa, Jimmie Sellers of Oskaloosa, Iowa; two sisters Dorothy Pugh of Oskaloosa, Iowa; five grandchildren and a special friends Lois Sperry.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Ozark Funeral Home in Pineville, Mo. Cremation was done by the Bella Vista Crematory in Bella Vista, Ark. Bob Sellers cremains will be buried in the Springfield Cemetery in Delta, Parker Mortuary.
