Silvey, Leland September 15, 2003
Leland O. Silvey, age 91, of Versailles, born August 18, 1912 in Camden County, Missouri, the daughter of Edward and Laura Braden Christian. She was united in marriage on August 29, 1931 with Marion A. Silvey who preceded her in death by one son, James A. Silvey on August 3, 2003, 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 grandchild. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 18, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Rev. William Johnson officiating. Beth Conway will sing “Because He Lives” and “Lord I’m Coming Home” accompanied at the organ by Debbie Hayworth. Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Richard Conway, Dan Roye, David Silvey, Ed Silvey, Timothy Brown, Blake Hayworth and Ray Silvey. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Diabetes Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Smith, Deanna August 30, 2003
Deanna Lea Smith, age 60, of Versailles, born December 29, 1942 in Duncan, Oklahoma, the daughter of Alexander and Loeta Williams May. She was united in marriage to Scott Smith in 1987. Mrs. Smith worked at Millstone Lodge Boutique near Laurie. She is survived her husband Scott Smith of the home; one daughter, Kimberlee Olesen of Gravois Mills; one son, Mark Sherard of Seattle, Washington; her father and mother, Alexander and Loeta May of Versailles; one brother Larry May of Spring Branch, Texas and two grandchildren, Corey and Taylor, many other relatives and friends. Memorial Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 6, 2003 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie. In Lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 7730 Carondelet Suite 135 St. Louis, Missouri 63105. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Laurie.

Stauffer, Virgil October 4, 2003
Virgil Dene Stauffer, age 5 months, of Versailles, born April 16, 2003 at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Missouri, the son of Reuben and Elizabeth L. Weaver Stauffer. He is survived by his parents, Reuben and Elizabeth Stauffer of the home; one brother, Christopher Stauffer of the home; paternal grandparents Alvin and Lizzie Stauffer, of New Holland, PA; maternal grandparents Noah and Edna Weaver, of Versailles, MO; paternal great-grandparents, Anna Stauffer of New Holland, PA, and Martin Zeiset of Narvon, PA; maternal great-grandparents Elizabeth Weaver of Fleetwood, PA, and Lydia Leid of Kutztown, PA; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, at Versailles Mennonite Church near Versailles, with Bishop Ray Weaver, Pastor Leroy Martin and Pastor Joel Martin officiating. Cemetery near Latham. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Thompson, "Barbie" Barbara November 9, 2003
Barbara “Barbie” Thomason, age 51, of Gravois Mills, born September 20, 1952 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Roy and Geneva Belt Dean. She was death in August of 1979. Barbie was a nurses aide. She is survived by her mother, Geneva Bauermeister of Gravois Mills; three sisters, Rachel White of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Carolyn Runager of Weatherford, Texas, and Saundra Harrison of Tulsa, Oklahoma, many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in Interment will be in the Versailles passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park. She was death on June 4, 1983. Mrs. Trasher was a cook at Millstone Lodge and Rock Harbor restaurants. She was a member of Kent Memorial Lutheran Church in Sunrise Beach, the Gravois Mills Business & Professional Women’s Club and enjoyed bowling. She is survived by one son, Joseph A. Trasher, and wife Paula of Overland Park, Kansas; one sister, Alberta Evans of Nevada, MO; two grandsons, Joe Paul Trasher and John Rea Trasher, 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8, at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel in Laurie. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Garber Memorial Estates passed away Thursday, August 28, 2003 at Sylvia C. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia, Missouri. She was death on September 6, 1996. Mrs. Weber was raised and educated in Easton, Missouri where she graduated from high school. She moved to Chicago with her sister where she worked for SW Bell Telephone Company. In 1968, she and her husband moved to Stover, Missouri where they raised cattle. She was a member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Versailles, Missouri for many years and was a member of the Women’s Alter Guild. She moved to Sedalia in 1996 and became a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading and crocheting. She is survived by five daughters, Mary Ann Reyburn, of Sedalia, Missouri, Dolores E. Marriott, of Gravois Mills, Valerie J Bloess of Sedalia, Missouri, Karen P Burr of Olathe, Kansas; Kathleen M. Metcalf, of Sunrise Beach; one sister, Margaret Gach of Carroll, Iowa; eleven grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in Cemetery in Laurie, Missouri. Casketbearer were David Baer, Traci Marriott, Chris Riley, Jennifer Reyburn, Kyle Riley, Melissa Reyburn, Dru Bloess, and Teresa Stiles. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Wenger, L. Roy October 24, 2003
L. Roy Wenger, age 77, of Versailles, MO, born February 6, 1926 on the farm near Versailles, son of Jesse and Ella Lehman Wenger. Roy was united in marriage on September 19, 1948 to Glendola Alta Bentch in a double ceremony with his brother Paul and her sister, Lela at Mt. Zion Mennonite Church. Roy accepted Christ as Savior and was baptized at age 13 and was a member of Mt. Zion and Cornerstone Church of Versailles. He attended grade school at Prairie Valley and then Versailles High School. Roy went to CPS in lieu of military in 1944 to work on a dam in Hill City, South Dakota, and then to Pennsylvania to do dairy testing. Roy became a dairy farmer and in the late 50’s he began an International Implement business, Versailles Truck and Tractor. Roy enjoyed being a member of Gideon’s International. He was a loving husband and a wonderful father and grandfather. We will miss him greatly. Roy is survived by nine children. Seven daughters, Delores Miller and husband Marlin of Versailles, MO, Charlene Yoder and husband Cleo of Wolford, ND, Darlene Reimer and husband Leonard of Omaha, NE, Marilyn McKee and husband Michael of Omaha, NE, Janice Miller and husband Clifford of Versailles, MO, Judith Redcay and husband Elmer of Jefferson City, MO, Vivian Good and husband Jeff of Murphy, ID; two sons, Philip Wenger and wife Helen of Versailles, MO, and Frederick Wenger and wife Natasha of Jefferson City, MO; three brothers, Albert Wenger of Versailles, MO, Norman Wenger and wife Mary of Versailles, MO, and Paul Wenger and wife Lela of Hesston, KS; one sister, Bertha Swarr and husband Paul of Richmond, VA; 27 grandchildren, 1 step-grandson, and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kerby Miller, Brandon Redcay, Eric Stevens, Jake Good, Zachary Wenger, Micah Good, Aaron Wenger and Kelvin Wenger. Honorary pallbearers will be Galen Miller, Chet Yoder, Carlon Yoder, Nathan Redcay, Slava Puyat and Jeremy Wenger. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Gideon’s International or Cornerstone Church of Versailles. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
