PAUL SAMUEL & MELVA FLORENCE GERBER
Paul Samuel Gerber, age 74, and his wife, Melva Florence Gerber, age 72, of Versailles, born November 14, 1929 near Versailles, the son of Ira L. and Bertha Moser Gerber. Melva was married on February 17, 1950 in Harrisonville, Arkansas. Paul and Melva owned and operated Versailles Commercial Printing for many years, and were active members of Bethel Mennonite Church near Versailles. They are survived by four children, Kay Gerber of Windsor, Marlene Baker and husband Wayne, Ken Gerber and wife Dora, and Debbie McCollom and husband David, all of Versailles; grandchildren, Dana Brandon Boatman, Mandy McCollom, Misty, Shawn and Jennifer Gerber, Wendy Rush and Shawn Rush, Christy and Garry Hufton; great-grandchildren Aidan Gerber, Colton, Kaitlyn and Allie Hufton; Paul’s sister, Louise Henderson of Versailles, many other relatives and friends. In addition to their parents they were preceded in Interment will be in the Versailles passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, August 11, 2004 at Capital Regional Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was married Pauline Rouse on May 30, 1948 in Darlington, MO. He was preceded in Interment will be in Garber Memorial Estates passed away Friday evening, August 6, 2004 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident earlier in the evening near California. She was death by two sisters, Donna Beverlin and Shellie Hakanson. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 12, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Rev. Ellen Hoff officiating. Burial will be in the Versailles passed away Monday, August 9, 2004 at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was death by his parents, one son Kenneth Wayne Roberts, two granddaughters, and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 13, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Jim Kruse and Dan Duckworth officiating. Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Don Edgar, Josh Ecton, Kevin Marshall, Barry Grider, Butch Barton and Lonnie Silkwood. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Lung Association or for Eye Research. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

ALBERT E. PLACKE
Albert E. Placke, age 94, of Gravois Mills, born May 11, 1910 at St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Henry C. and Catherine Moeller Placke. Mr. Placke worked at the General Motors Fairfax Plant for 27 years, and was a member of the U.A.W. Local 31. He is survived by two sons, Albert R. Placke of Sunrise Beach, and Edward H. Placke of Bonner Springs, KS; one daughter, Patricia D. Dawson of Gravois Mills; 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in passed away Sunday morning, February 29, 2004 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville. She was death on June 4, 1997. Mrs. Petry was a homemaker and member of Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Henry Petry and wife Betsy, of Kirksville, and Dr. Thomas Petry and wife Susan, of Rolla; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14, at Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church in Laurie. passed away after a long illness Sunday evening, August 8, 2004 at Heritage Park Care Center in Rolla. She was death by one brother, Raymond “Butch” Snyder, and one niece, Lori Ann Snyder. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles, with Pastor Danny Owsley officiating. Shari Grotheer sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace” accompanied at the organ by Virginia Schad, and vocal recordings of “Word of God Speak” and “I Can Only Imagine” by Mercyme were played. Cemetery. Casketbearers were Harry, Dan, Matt and Jeremy Nickels, Rick Rush and Lance Newkirk. Mark Grotheer served as an honorary casketbearer. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
