Evelyn DeVorss
Evelyn DeVorss, age 75, of Sunrise Beach, born June 22, 1927 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Seth and Lois Kuntz Phillips. She was united in marriage in 1946 to Warren DeVorss in Kansas City. Mrs. DeVorss retired from AT&T; as a supervisor after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Drag and Threaders Club in Laurie, and loved to spend time with her grandchildren who she cherished. She is survived by her husband, Warren DeVorss of the home; son, Stephen DeVorss and wife, Brenda of Blue Springs, Missouri; one brother Robert Phillips of Kansas; one sister Carol Lawson of Camdenton; two grandchildren Susan and David DeVorss, many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in passed away Monday morning, January 20, 2003 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was death on March 3, 1993. Mrs. Shepp worked for Winis Fashion’s in Versailles for many years, and was a seamstress and homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Versailles. She is survived by two sons, James Shepp of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Edward Shepp of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; one daughter Martha Ward of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mary McLennan of Versailles, Missouri, and Ruth Crane of California, Missouri; 8 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in Cemetery. Casketbearers are Rodney Schad, Jim Miller, Glen White, Bill Crane, Mike Crane, and Warren Gerhart. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.

Kenneth “Jumbo” C. Houston
Kenneth “Jumbo” C. Houston, age 70, of Barnett, Missouri, born May 4, 1932 in Eldon, Missouri, the son of Eunice M. Houston. Jumbo is survived by several cousins and friends. Services will be at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles with Reverend Ronnie Hess officiating. Musical selections are “How Great Thou Art” and “In The Garden” Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens passed away Sunday, January 19, 2003 at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. He was death by two brothers, Bert and Henry Marriott and three sisters Virginia Marriott, Audrey Taylor, and Alice Marriott. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Versailles with Reverend Todd Forman officiating. Military Honors and Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church and the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Ruth Evelyn Nelson
Ruth Evelyn Nelson, 70, Versailles, born Nov. 6, 1932, in Decatur, Ill., a daughter of Tony B. and Gladys M. Richard Elder. She was died Aug. 5, 1988. She was a homemaker. Survivors include: one foster son, William Dodge, Lebanon; two sisters, Helen JoAnne Calton, Eldon, and Nina "Dee" Byers, Barnett. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Versailles passed away Tuesday morning, January 14, 2003 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Brad Bunell, Buster Coppage, Kevin Christman, George Cochran, Ronnie Soriano, and Jeremy Hart. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon to 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.

Lutetia S. Morris
Lutetia S. Morris, age 106 of Versailles born in Cooper County, Missouri on August 18, 1896, a daughter of the late Will and Lutetia Mills Byler. On July 6, 1918 she was united in marriage with Samuel E. Morris who preceded her in death in 1979. Mrs. Morris also is survived by three grandchildren including, James Morris of Leawood, Kansas and Nancy Fitzpatrick of Kansas City; nine great-grandchildren, and by a sister Frances Carpenter of Bella Vista, Arkansas formerly of Kansas City, Kansas. Mrs. Morris spent her early years in Prairie Home, Missouri and she graduated from California, Missouri High School. She moved from Boonville to Versailles with her family in 1925, and spent the rest of her life in Versailles. She was active for many years in the First Baptist Church, the Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary, and she was a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church. Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 17, 2003 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Versailles with Reverend Bill Johnson and Reverend Bob Nichols officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
