George P. Emmons
1902-1998
ATCHISON, Kan. -- George Percy Emmons, 95, Atchison, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at an Atchison health-care center.
Mr. Emmons was a patternmaker for the Warner Fence Manufacturing Co., Ottawa, Kan. In 1927, he moved to Atchison and worked as a patternmaker for the former Rockwell International Foundry, Atchison. He worked there for 40 years, retiring in 1967.
Born Nov. 18, 1902, in Coloma, Mich., he moved with his parents from the Aledo, Ill., area to Ottawa in 1920. He attended Ottawa High School, and was a graduate of the Greeley (Kan.) High School.
Mr. Emmons was a charter member of the Carol Baptist Church, Atchison, where he served as a deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher and was active the church's senior citizen center.
On April 3, 1926, he married Hazel L. Tedrow in Fort Scott, Kan. She died in 1990.
Mr. Emmons also was preceded in death by two sons, Earl and Clyde; an infant daughter, Veleta; his parents, Samuel M. and Lucinda B.; two brothers; three sisters; and a grandchild.
Surviving: two sons, Marvin, Stockton, Mo., and David, Prairie Village, Kan.; two daughters, Doris Cook, San Antonio, Texas, and Karen Dobbs, Atchison; a half-sister; two half-brothers; 16 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison. Burial: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Evergreen Mound Cemetery, northwest of Ottawa. Family visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Nancy C. Feurt
1911-1998
JAMESON, Mo. -- Nancy Colene (Miller) Feurt, 86, Jameson, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at a Gallatin health-care center.
Mrs. Feurt was a graduate of the Jameson Consolidated School, and attended Northwest Missouri State College, Maryville.
Born Dec. 26, 1911, in Gentry County, Mo., she lived in the Jameson area most of her life. She was a member of the Jameson Baptist Church.
On July 28, 1929, she married William H. Feurt. They lived on a farm until 1974, when they moved to Jameson. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Feurt also was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob A. and Annie; and a sister, Grace Priestly.
Surviving: a daughter, Jean A. Hart, Carson, Iowa; a son, William J., Jameson; two sisters, Helen Hodge, Garden City, Mo., and Ruth Corder, Richmond, Va.; a brother, John D. Miller, Falls of Rough, Ky.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Service: 2 p.m. today, Hope-Eldringhoff Funeral Home, Gallatin. Burial: Grand River Cemetery, Jameson. Visitation: after 8 a.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 1 to 2 today.

Marie S. Griffith
1901-1998
Marie S. Griffith, 97, St. Joseph, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at a health-care center in Gower, Mo.
Mrs. Griffith worked as an accounting supervisor for First National Bank, St. Joseph, and as an assistant trust officer for First Trust Bank, St. Joseph, retiring in 1969 after 52 years of service.
Born Feb. 19, 1901, in Amazonia, Mo., she resided most of her life in St. Joseph. She was a member of the Francis Street First United Methodist Church, St. Joseph.
Mrs. Griffith was preceded in death by her husband, Noel E. Griffith, in 1962; her mother, Ida Moser; two sisters, Cora E. and Beatrice Brown; and a brother, Leo F. Sheridan.
Surviving: a niece, Darlyne Hargis, St. Joseph, who was raised in her home; two nephews, Byron L. Brown, Deming, N.M., and Jerry Brown, St. Joseph; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Graveside service and burial: 1 p.m. Friday, Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: after noon today, Meierhoffer-Fleeman Funeral Home, St. Joseph.

Charles G. Hamlet
1917-1998
CAMERON, Mo. -- Charles G. "Charlie" Hamlet, 81, Cameron, formerly of Kidder, Mo., died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at a Cameron hospital.
Mr. Hamlet was a farmer, and an agent for both the Cameron Mutual Insurance Co., and the Caldwell County (Mo.) Mutual Insurance Co. He was a volunteer for the Cameron Nutrition Center, delivering Meals on Wheels.
Born Sept. 18, 1917, in Kidder, he lived there until moving to Cameron in 1984. He was a graduate of Kidder High School and was a member of the United Methodist Church, Cameron.
Mr. Hamlet was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Harriett; a brother, Lynn; and a great-grandchild.
Surviving: two daughters, Jo Ellen McKinney, Hamilton, Mo., and Janet Adkison, Richmond, Mo.; a brother, Albert, Cameron; two sisters, Jeanette Archibald, Glasford, Ill., and Theda Estep, Cameron; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Service: 4 p.m. Friday, United Methodist Church, Cameron. Burial: Cameron Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation: after noon today, Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. Family visitation: 3 to 4 p.m. Friday at the church.

Joe Hass
1917-1998
MERCER, Mo. -- Joe Hass, 81, Mercer, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at a hospital in Corydon, Iowa.
Mr. Hass served with the Army during World War II. After the war, he returned to Bettendorf, Iowa, where he worked in farm implement factories.
Born June 2, 1917, in Bettendorf, he was a member of the American Legion in Mercer.
On May 27, 1951, he married Mildred M. Shook. They moved to Princeton, Mo., in 1961, where he farmed until his retirement in 1984. She died in 1985. He married his second wife, Marie Dailey, on Aug. 18, 1986. She survives of the home.
Mr. Hass also was preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Mildred; and a brother, Marvin.
Additional survivors: two stepsons, Elijah Dailey, Mercer, and Duane Dailey, Columbia, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Deanna Schreffler, Des Moines, Iowa; eight step-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel, Princeton. Burial: Princeton Cemetery. Visitation: after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Franklin E. Keller
1923-1998
DENVER -- Franklin E. Keller, 75, Denver, formerly of St. Joseph, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998, at his home.
While living in St. Joseph, Mr. Keller was employed at the Gas Service Co., and in 1960 was appointed to the Division of Industrial Inspection for the State of Missouri. He was a former member of the Christ Episcopal Church, and the Church Vestry, and was also involved in the Scottish Rite.
Born in St. Joseph in 1923, he was a graduate of Central High School. A staff sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II, he accumulated a number of honors, including the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Leaving St. Joseph in 1965, he founded Keller Engineering Inc., Denver. He was involved in Democratic politics on state and city levels, serving as committeeman and captain of his local district. He volunteered for over 20 years at the Denver V.A. Hospital, and also volunteered for animal rights and the Humane Society, in both St. Joseph and Denver. On the day of his funeral the flag was flown at half-staff at the Colorado State Capitol Building.
Mr. Keller was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin E. Sr. and Marcella K.; his first wife, Jeanne Ziemendorff-Keller, from whom he was divorced; and his second wife, Mary Boeck-Keller.
Surviving: three daughters, Kathy Powers, St. Joseph, Kerry L. Roarty, Kansas City, and Kristy Maraval, Columbia, S.C.; three sons, Franklin, Kansas City, Christopher, San Diego, and Walter, Denver; a brother, George, Fort Myers, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Our Merciful Savior Episcopal Church, Denver. Burial will be in the Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C.

Keith L. McKinley
1954-1998
ATCHISON, Kan. -- Keith Leo McKinley, 44, Atchison, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at a Kansas City hospital.
Mr. McKinley was employed for the last 10 years in the food service department of Benedictine College, Atchison.
Born March 9, 1954, in Parsons, Kan., he attended Atchison public schools. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Atchison.
Mr. McKinley was preceded in death by his father, Arthur L.
Surviving: a daughter, Kimberly, Atchison; his mother, Myrtle M., Atchison; a sister, Diane E. Bratton, Kansas City; and a brother, Lawrence L., Denver.
Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Atchison. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Atchison. Family visitation: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements: Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, Atchison.
