TAYLORVILLE, Ill. -­ Billy U. Dean, 68, of Edinburg, Ill., died at 8:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at Sutton Memorial Home Chapel in Taylorville. The Rev. Craig Scott will officiate. Burial, with full military rites, will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Riverton, Ill.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Dean was born Sept. 17, 1932, in Roby, Ill., to Billie and Marietta Hannah Ginther Dean.
He was married to Carol Jean Morman on Sept. 9, 1985, in Edinburg. She survives.
Other survivors include his mother of Edinburg; one son, Billie D. Dean of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; four daughters, Marjorie L. Hobbs of Rosamond, Ill., Barbara A. Fabin of Lewiston, Idaho, Jacqueline S. Lefever and Marla M. Dean, both of Edinburg; five stepchildren, I. Jeff Falconer of Effingham, Ill., W. Dan Falconer of Springfield, Ill., Stephanie J. Woolard of Mount Auburn, Ill., Tammy S. Dieker of Chestnut, Ill., and Steven L. Southwick of Edinburg; eight grandchildren, Clayton W. Hobbs of Taylorville, Taryn L. Hobbs and Justin D. Lefever, both of Springfield, Ill., Jacob D. Lefever and Jordan R. Lefever, both of Edinburg, and Robert A. Fabin and Amy M. Chase, both of Lewiston; 12 step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Dean was a member of Clinton Baptist Church of Clinton, Ill., and a retired railroad engineer for Norfolk Southern Railroad out of Hannibal. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. He served as Specialist 3rd Class in U.S. Army Company "C" 714th Unit TBROS & DE from May 1954 until May 1956 where he served on the Army Pistol Team receiving many national awards. He was a 1950 graduate of Mount Auburn High School. He was Past Lt. General of the Illinois State Militia appointed on March 14, 1986, by the honorable Governor James R. Thompson.

Paul E. Wood II
Union, Iowa
Feb. 26, 1954 - Feb. 1, 2001
ELDORA, Iowa -­ Paul E. Wood II, 46, of Union, Iowa, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001 at his home in Union.
Memorial services were Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001 at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, following cremation. Pastor Arlene Daleske of the Honey Creek New Providence Friends Church officiated.
Visitation was also Wednesday.
Mr. Wood was born Feb. 26, 1954, in Hannibal to Paul E. and Allis Harris Wood.
He was married to Debra Laughlin on Feb. 21, 1981 in Dubuque, Iowa. They were later divorced.
Survivors include his mother, of Seattle, Wash.; three sons, Todd (Carla) Timmerman, of Shullsburg, Wis., and Paul III, of Ryan, and Matthew Wood, of New Providence, Iowa; three sisters, Nora Claude, of Garner, Iowa, Claudia Brown, of St. Louis, and Mary Tabor, of San Diego, Calif.; three grandchildren; and one aunt, Clara Colleen Ledbetter, of Hannibal.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Wood attended grade school in Hannibal, moving to East Dubuque where he attended high school. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1973 and served aboard the USS Enterprise. He moved to Eldora in 1985 and to his current address in Union in 1998. He had previously been employed by Whink Products and Quality Products, both in Eldora.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Clarence K. Chatten
Springfield, Ill.
Nov. 9, 1907 -­ Feb. 3, 2000
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. ­- Clarence K. Chatten, 92, of Springfield, Ill., died Feb. 3, 2000, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Funeral services were Sunday, Feb. 6, at Plainville United Methodist Church in Plainville, Ill. The Rev. Ronald Cox officiated. Burial was at Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry, Ill.
Mr. Chatten was born Nov. 9, 1907, in Drexel to the Rev. William K. and Laura Beam Chatten.
He was married to Ruth Morrison, formerly of Barry, Ill., and Hannibal, on Dec. 24, 1941, in Berkeley, Calif. She survives.
Other survivors include two nieces, Beverly Hanna of Edmond, Okla., and Kathryn Dougherty of Platte City.
He was preceded in death by four brothers.
Mr. Chatten was a graduate of Westport High School in Kansas City, Mo., and Drury College, Springfield, Mo.. He also did some post-graduate work. He was formerly employed by the Hannibal Rubber Plant as an assistant chemist from 1932 to 1940. He retired June 30, 1972, after 30 years of service as Head, Advanced Composites Branch, U.S. Naval Ship R&D; Center, Annapolis, Md.
Mr. Chatten was sole author or co-author of 25 published technical articles on the formulation and evaluation of high polymer products for Naval use. As one of 21 speakers, he presented technical paper "Buoyancy Materials for Deep Submergence" at the International Symposium on "Materials, Key to Effective Use of the Sea," in 1967 in New York, N.Y. He was sole or co-inventor of 12 inventions for which patents were awarded
Mr. Chatten was co-author of a chapter entitled "Cavitation Erosion Resistance" in reference book "Testing of Polymers" published by Interscience Publishers 1967, a division of John Wiley and Sons. He received a Meritorious Civilian Service Award for technical achievements. During his professional career, he belonged to several technical societies and was chairman of a number of technical committees.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Springfield, Ill., and Forest Hills Community Lodge No. 946 AF & AM, Forest Hills, N.Y.
The Bisch Funeral Home West in Springfield, Ill., was in charge of arrangements.

Hilda M. Roberts
Vandalia
Sept. 14, 1910 - ­Feb. 6, 2000
VANDALIA ­- Hilda M. Roberts, 89, of Vandalia, died at 11:25 p.m. Feb. 6, 2000, at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia. Ralph Swarthout will officiate. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Cemetery in Shelbina.
Visitation will be from noon until time of services today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Roberts was born Sept. 14, 1910, in Hawk Point to Judmorian and Teresa Bender Black.
She was married to Glenn Ransdell Collins on Feb. 9, 1936. He preceded her in death in January 1968. She was then married to Raymond Roberts in 1971. He survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Sarrah Cone of Melville; one brother, Dean Black of Center; two sisters, Florence Gramley of Vandalia and Fern Christman of Perry; three grandchildren, Sherrie Friday Doyel of Creve Coeur, Gary Alan Friday of St. Louis and Robin Christine Edens of Manchester; three great-grandchildren; five stepdaughters, Karen Riley of Vandalia, Linda Grote of Bowling Green, Shirley Benz of St. Louis, Joyce Botts of Hannibal and Charlene Busch of Cape Coral, Fla.; six step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Roberts had been a homemaker all her married life and a Vandalia area resident since 1971.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Virginia Eileen Jett
Troy
March 29, 1954­ - Feb. 5, 2000
WINFIELD -­ Virginia Eileen Jett, 45, of Troy, died Feb. 5, 2000, from injuries suffered in a traffic accident near Troy on Feb. 5.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at New Bethel Baptist Cemetery near Owensville. The Rev. Mike Ryan will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Carter-Ricks Funeral Home in Winfield.
Ms. Jett was born March 29, 1954, in St. Louis to Charles Troy and Anna Kathleen Sitton Jett.
Survivors include two brothers, Ronald Jett of San Diego and Billy Jett of St. Charles; and three sisters, Janet Owens of Waukegan, Ill., Karen Flieger of Leadwood and Brenda Richter of Moscow Mills.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ms. Jett was employed by Ameriwood Industry in Wright City as a drill operator. She was a longtime area resident.
She was a 1972 graduate of Hazelwood High School in Hazelwood.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice, in care of the funeral home.

Pauline Stout
Shelbina
July 21, 1927 - Feb. 6, 2001
SHELBINA ­- Pauline Stout, 73, of Shelbina, died at 9:20 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2001, at Clarence Care Center.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Chapel in Shelbina. The Rev. Frank Skinner will officiate. Burial will be at the Shelbina Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stout was born July 21, 1927, in Macon to Filbert and Lucille Mason Skinner.
She was married to Howard N. Stout on Aug. 12, 1944, in Linneus. He survives.
Other survivors include seven children, Cindia E. Mayo of Ferguson, Carroll H. Stout of Kenosha, Wis., Elfie L. Todd and Judith A. Fleagle, both of Shelbina, Linda S. Roberts of Dorchester, Neb., Steven P. Stout of Harker Heights, Texas and Julia R. Knapp of Clarence; 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sabrina Fleagle.
Mrs. Stout was a member of the Assembly of God Church and had worked as a nurse's aide.
Memorials may be made to the Clarence Care Center.

James S. Clausen
Farber
Aug. 1, 1934 - Feb. 2, 2005
VANDALIA - James S. (Jim) Clausen, 70, of Farber, died at 8:25 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, at Audrian Medical Center in Mexico.
Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at St. John Lutheran Church in Vandalia. Pastor Kenneth Schamber officiated.
Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Clausen was born Aug. 1, 1934, in Decatur, Ill., to Stanley J. and Lean A. Farmer Clausen.
He married Ethel Ruth Cheney on Sept. 2, 1972, in Farber. She survives
Also surviving are two sons, Eric C. Clausen of Mexico and Todd A. Clausen and wife, Sophia, of Liberty; one sister, Janet Wendel of New Hartford; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Clausen was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was custodian at Van-Far High School and Elementary School from 1976 to 1997. He was a high school and college graduate.

V. Inez Anderson
Vandalia
May 16, 1916 - Feb. 6, 2005
VANDALIA - V. Inez Anderson, 88, of Vandalia, died at 4:55 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, at her son's home near Clark.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Waters Funeral Chapel in Vandalia. The Rev. Bob Hoehn will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vandalia.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born May 16, 1916, in Vandalia to Edwin K. and Ella C. Huntsman Waters.
She was married to Forrest L. Anderson on Feb. 19, 1944, in Hannibal. He died July 9, 1998.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Anderson of Vandalia and Gary Anderson of Clark; one daughter, Linda Hicks of Vandalia; one brother, Woodrow Waters of Vandalia; one sister, Geraldine Pease of Bowling Green; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Eddie Anderson.
She was a member of First Christian Church. She was a lifelong resident of the Vandalia/Farber area and had worked at Vandalia garment factories for many years.

Carrie Lillian Kimberley
Hannibal
Jan. 17, 1906 - Feb. 5, 2005
PALMYRA - Carrie Lillian Kimberley, 99, of Hannibal and formerly of Palmyra and the Fabius Community, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at Willow Care Center in Hannibal.
Private graveside services will be Thursday, Feb. 10, at Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra. The Rev. Rebecca Dunger Peak will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.
Mrs. Kimberley was born Jan. 17, 1906, in St. Patrick to George and Ada Belle Glisan Bader.
She was married to Homer L. Kimberley on Dec. 26, 1929. He preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1982.
Survivors include one son, Jack Kimberley and wife, Cheryl, of Buena Vista, Colo.; one sister, Evangeline Weas of Escondido, Calif.; two granddaughters, Debra Sanborn and husband, Chad, of Ames, Iowa, and Kristen Mahoney and husband, Joseph, of Windsor Heights, Iowa; and three great-grandchildren, Delaney, Deckard and Quinn, all of Iowa.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Hilborn Bader.
Mrs. Kimberley graduated from Canton High School and received her teaching certificate from Culver-Stockton College. She taught in the St. Patrick Community until her marriage. She and her husband farmed for 36 years in the Fabius Community until they retired and moved to Palmyra in 1966. She was a member of the Palmyra United Methodist Church.

Mary Ann Webster
Hannibal
May 28, 1929 -­ Feb. 6, 2000
HANNIBAL -­ Mary Ann Webster, 70, of Hannibal, died at 8:30 p.m. Feb. 6, 2000, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Pastor Margie McDaniel Woods will officiate.
There will be no visitation. The James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Webster was born May 28, 1929, in Hannibal to Harold E. and Marie Rebecca Wilson Billings.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Webster and LeRoy Webster, both of Hannibal; one brother, William F. Billings of Hannibal; one sister, Peggy J. Wegehoft of Hannibal; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Bross, LeaAnn Irick, Bridget Webster, Erin Webster, Megan Webster, Gabe Webster and Gretchen Webster; and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Webster was a former restaurant owner and a member of the First Christian Church of Hannibal.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
