Terry Jean King
Sept. 28, 1953 - Aug. 7, 2006
Terry Jean King, 52, Raymore, died Aug. 7, 2006, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City.
She was born Sept. 29, 1953, in Independence, the daughter of Harley Gene and Wanda May (Tinklepaugh) Hartman.
Nov. 10, 1972, she was married to Robert Wayne King in Liberty.
Mrs. King was employed as an accounting technician for the United States Department of Agriculture, Kansas City, for 20 years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Harrisonville, and the Toast Masters — Ag Masters at USDA.
She was a 1972 graduate of Liberty High School and a 2000 graduate of Park University, Parkville.
She loved to knit, water ski, attend blue grass festivals and ceramics.
Mrs. King moved to Raymore in 1987.
Preceding her in death was her father.
Surviving are her husband, Robert W. King of the home; a son, Michael W. King and wife, Charlene, and a daughter, Denise M. King, all of Raymore; her mother, Wanda Hartman, Raymore; a brother, Gary Hartman, Liberty; three sisters, Janet Hartman, Des Moines, Iowa, Karen Lopez, Claycomo, Barbara Service, Overland Park, Kan.; two grandchildren, Genessa and James; and other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services were Aug. 10, at the First Baptist Church, Harrisonville with the Rev. David Noble officiating.
Cremation.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Verle LeRoy Rice
June 11, 1933 - July 20, 2006
Verle LeRoy Rice, Harrisonville, died Aug. 8, 2006, at Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville.
He was born June 11, 1933, in Lee’s Summit, the son of RB and Velma (Hall) Rice.
He was raised and graduated from high school in Lee’s Summit.
He served in the Navy from 1952 to 1956 and was honorably discharged.
June 17, 1954, he married Joyce Heerwald.
Using the GI Bill, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business economics from the University of Kansas in 1960.
He worked as sales manager for RB Rice Sausage from 1960 to 1964.
He started Rice Enterprises Investments in 1964 which led to real estate, aviation and many other business ventures which he successfully completed when he purchased J.R. Prewitt & Son Manufacturing in 1972.
The business was reincorporated as RB Industries in 1976 and he was involved with it for 34 years.
Mr. Rice served on several corporate boards, but was most proud of his time on Midland Bank’s Board of Directors.
He was a member of the Ararat Shrine and served in several units.
He also flew severely burned children to Shrine hospitals in his private plane.
He served on the Harrisonville Christian School Board for many years.
He helped build a new church in Florida and was involved in several ministries.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Harold; and a sister, Doris Gunn.
Surviving are Joyce, his wife of 52 years; a son Kris and wife, Stacey, grandchildren, Ashley and Joshua; a son Craig, and grandchildren, Derek and Dillon; a daughter, Karen and husband, Robb, grandchildren, Preston, Spencer and Alek; his sister, Elberta Hertzog; sister-in-law, Wanda Rice; and many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Life Choice Center for Women or the Harrisonville Christian School Foundation.
Cremation.
Celebration of life services were Aug. 12, at the Harrisonville Mennonite Church, Harrisonville, with Pastor Keith Swartz officiating.
Music was provided by Kay Schrock and Noel Floyd
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville.

Georgia Ann Roll
June 6, 1909 - Aug. 13, 2006
Georgia Ann Roll, 97, Harrisonville, died Aug. 13, 2006, at Crown Care Center, Harrisonville.
She was born June 6, 1909, in El Dorado Springs, the daughter of George Washington and Ollie (Gresham) Mallicoat.
Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 1927, she married Frebern Loyd Roll. They eloped, driving in Loyd’s Model T Ford.
Mr. Roll became a prominent homebuilder in Harrisonville.
After retiring in 1953, they moved to a farm on Rt. 7 where he spent his time raising Angus cattle.
Mrs. Roll moved to Harri­son­ville from Cleveland in 1925.
She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church where she taught nursery school for more than 30 years.
She was a graduate of Harrisonville High School, receiving her teaching certificate from Warrensburg and taught in a one-room schoolhouse in rural Cass County.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Loyd, Aug. 30, 1975; her daughter, Carol Brinkman, in 2000; a brother, Edgar Mallicoat; and a sister, Mabel Roupe.
Surviving are a son, Loyd Eugene “Gene” Roll and his wife, Dorothy, Raleigh, N.C.; her son-in-law, Bill Brinkman, Princeton, N.J.; six grandchildren, Tracey Holmes, Wisconsin, Vicci Ruscito, Connecticut., Susan Nazzaro, North Carolina, Amy Girton, Georgia, David Brinkman and Curtis Brinkman, both of New Jersey, their respective spouses; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the chapel, with the Rev. Adam Harmon officiating.
The eulogies will be given by the grandchildren.
Music will be provided by June DeWitt, soloist, and Janet Allbaugh, pianist.
Burial will be in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice or to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund, for the nursery.

Derek Lee Slinger
Nov. 16, 1986 - Aug. 13, 2006
Derek Lee Slinger, 19, Raymore, died Aug. 13, 2006.
He was born Nov. 16, 1986, the son of Dennis and Lisa (Caldwell) Slinger.
A Mass of Christian burial was Aug. 17 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Urich, with burial in White Oak Cemetery, Urich, under the direction of the Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore.

Dorothy A. Spears
Sept. 29, 1918 - Aug. 11, 2006
Dorothy A. Spears, 87, Har­ri­sonville, died Aug. 11, 2006, at Cass Medical Center, Harrisonville.
She was born Sept. 29, 1918, in Jasper, Ark., the daughter of John and Francis (Henderson) Thompson.
July 9, 1938, she married Howard G. Spears.
Mrs. Spears was a 1934 graduate of Jasper High School. She lived in Kansas City for 36 years before moving to Harrisonville. She was a member of Southview Baptist Church, Raytown. She was a homemaker.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Howard G. Spears, in 1990; and a grandson.
Surviving are two sons, Charles A. Spears, Portage, Mich., and Gary R. Spears, Harrisonville; two brothers, Warren Thompson, Western Grove, Ark., and Howard Thompson, Jasper, Ark.; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Charles Spears, Gary R. Spears, Doug Meadows, Michael Lloyd, Stewart Lewis and Van McLain.
Services were Aug. 14, at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, with the Rev. Charles Sutton officiating. Music was provided by Misti Gile.
Burial was in Orient Cemetery, Harrisonville, under the direction of Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation.

Kenneth Harold Wynn
Feb. 7, 1932 - Aug. 7, 2006
Kenneth Harold Wynn, 74, Holden, died Aug. 7, 2006.
He was born Feb. 7, 1932, in Lyons, Kan., the son of Perry Oscar and Alma Martha Helene (Siemsen) Wynn.
Services were Aug. 10, at the Dickey Funeral Home, Harrisonville, with burial in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Harrisonville.

Vincent F. McGinnis
Jan. 7, 1921 - Aug. 19, 2006
Retired Major Vincent F. McGinnis, 85, Harrisonville, died Aug. 19, 2006, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City.
He was born Jan. 7, 1921, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Frank Albert and Minnie (Dyer) McGinnis.
Mr. McGinnis lived in Sioux City until the Iowa National Guard was mobilized into the Armed Services in February 1941.
He served in World War II with the 255th Field Artillery Battalion across Omaha Beach and remained with this unit throughout the war.
He served during the occupation as an investigator, with assignments in France and Germany.
During 1951 and 1953, Mr. McGinnis was sent to Korea and became commanding officer of the 3rd Infantry Division MP Company and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He finished his career in the states and retired April 30, 1961, after 20 years of service.
Mr. McGinnis worked for the U.S. Treasury Department and the State Department for 24 years before retiring again on March 29, 1986.
He spent several years as a volunteer deputy sheriff in Cass County.
He married Clora Lackey Goff in 1966.
Mr. McGinnis had lived in Miami Beach and Miami, Fla., from 1965 until 1995, when he moved to Harrisonville.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Harrisonville and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War.
Surviving are his wife, Clora (Corky), of the home; two daughters, Virginia Feagin, and Pam Marcum and her husband, Lance, all of Sacramento, Calif.; a stepson, Rod Goff and his wife, Marcie, Lawndale, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Soozie Linden, Harrisonville; his sister, Virginia Wensel and a niece, Susan Wensel, Sioux City, Iowa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Nelson, Fannie and Cecil Sanders, Cad and Betty Lackey, Lynn and Louise Lackey, Vista and Jack Bowers, Jack and Grace Lackey, Joan and Everett Bake, Gwen and Mike Hall; grandsons, Cameron Marcum, Doug Linden, Daniel Goff and Shawn Goff; granddaughters, Corynn Gilbert and husband, Saxon and Heather Linden and four great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews
Memorial services were Aug. 23 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Harrisonville.
Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Atkinson Funeral Home, Harrisonville
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church.
