Wayne C. Black, 1915-2006, Tonganoxie, Kan.

Wayne C. Black, 90, of Tonganoxie, Kan., born Oct. 22, 1915, in Scribner, Neb., a son of Maurice F. and Adie Belle Brown Black. On Aug. 9, 1942, in Appanoose, he was died Feb. 7, 1997.

Mr. Black was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a dairy farmer, retiring in 1971. He was a member of Tonganoxie Christian Church.

Surviving are a son, Ron, of Washington, Ill.; a daughter, Deana Rader, of Sedalia; two brothers, Maurice Jr., of Tonganoxie, and Dale, of Olathe, Kan.; a sister, Opal Kerns, of Tonganoxie; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Quisenberry Funeral Home in Tonganoxie. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill died Sunday evening, Oct. 15, 2006 at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles.

She was married to Roy Eugene Bolton, who Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church in Versailles or the Morgan County Library for large print books.

Staff Sgt. Lawrence L.R. Parrish, 1970-2006, Lebanon

Missouri Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Lawrence Lee Roy Parrish, 36, of Lebanon, born June 29, 1970, in Jefferson City, a son of Robert Kenneth and Patricia Swanson Parrish. On Aug. 28, 2004, in Miami, Okla., he was Cemetery, with military rites at graveside. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Stover Community Center.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Staff Sgt. Larry Parrish's Children's Education Fund, in care of Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes, 210 E. Jasper St., Versailles, MO 65084.

Mabel F. Rogers, 1936-2006, Sedalia

Mabel F. Rogers, 70, of Sedalia, born April 30, 1936, in Lore City, Ohio, a daughter of Dwight Alexander and Gustava McIntire Eagleson. On Nov. 20, 1954, in Indiana, she was died Jan. 19, 2004.

Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and of Ancient of Days Church. She had been a data processing clerk for Town & Country Shoes and Rival Manufacturing Co. She then worked for her family's recycling business. Later, she became a nurse's assistant and a certified medical technician, while working at Brooking Park.

When she was 42, she attended State Fair Community College. She received a nursing degree. She then worked at Rest Haven Convalescent and Retirement Home and Bothwell Regional Health Center. She retired in 1999. She was devoted to her faith and belief in God. She was an avid supporter of the TNN Network and the Kenneth Copeland Ministries. She had a personal list of over 200 names of family and friends for whom she prayed for on a regular basis. She collected bird houses, angels and enjoyed fishing with her grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Franklin D. Rogers Jr., of Sedalia, and Douglas T. Rogers, of Syracuse; three daughters, Joey L. Rogers, of Columbia, Sharita D. Casey, of Sedalia, and Holly Jane Keller, of Overland Park, Kan.; two brothers, Clifford Eagleson, of Byesville, Ohio, and Bernie Eagleson, of Cambridge, Ohio; a sister, Helen Anderson, of Cambridge, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by nine brothers.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gordon Adair officiating. Pallbearers will be Mark Hudiburg, Jeremy Rogers, Nicholas Rogers, Joshua Rogers, Dustin Rogers, Jonathon Rogers and Phillip Casey. Burial will be in Highland Sacred Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions to New Life Children's Home, in care of the funeral home.

Lester W. Shanks, 1935-2006, Sedalia

Lester W. Shanks, 71, of Sedalia, born Aug. 17, 1935, in Hale Center, Texas, a son of Lester E. "Pappy" and Edith Marie Doyal Shanks.

Mr. Shanks was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Sedalia. He served in the Army during the 1950s. After his honorable discharge in 1958, he became a factory representative for a women's and children's ready-to-wear company. In order to have more time with his family, he began buying real estate and rental properties. He was active in the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship. He had been semi-retired for the last 10 years because of health reasons. He was an avid collector of gospel LP records and John Wayne tapes and memorabilia. He enjoyed watching any football game that was on.

Surviving are a son, the Rev. Wyatt Shanks, and his wife, Linda, of Pleasant Hill; a daughter, the Rev. Merry Kroeger, and her husband, the Rev. Tony Kroeger, of Sedalia; his father, of Sedalia; six grandchildren, Alex Kroeger, Loren Shanks, Ben Kroeger, Stephanie Shanks, Mike Kroeger, and David Shanks; three great-grandchildren; the mother of his children, Mary J. Spoonemore Hensley, and his caregiver, Joyce Reeves, of Sedalia.

He was predeceased by his mother in March 1999.

Funeral services were Monday at Ewing-Schutte-Semler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wyatt Shanks, the Rev. Tony Kroeger and the Rev. Merry Kroeger officiating. Pallbearers were David Shanks, Loren Shanks, Alex Kroeger, Ben Kroeger, Mike Kroeger and Walter Doyal. Burial was in Highland Sacred Gardens.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Care Connections, in care of the funeral home.

Joyce D. Frye, 1944-2006, Sedalia

Joyce Davene Frye, 61, of Sedalia, born Nov. 16, 1944, in Sedalia, a daughter of Tilliam and Lydia Thuston Frye.

Ms. Frye formerly worked at Menorah Hospital in Kansas City and at Four Seasons Living Center in Sedalia.

Surviving are a son, Galin Frye, of Columbia; a brother, Anderson H. Frye, of Sedalia; three sisters, Bernice Roseman and Dorothy Mitchell, both of Sedalia, and Rose Madden, of Kansas City; and two grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; a sister; and a brother.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Alexander-May Funeral Home, with the Rev. Walter Foster officiating. Cremation will follow.
