Edna Mae Wansing

Edna M. Wansing, 65, of Sedalia, born September 24, 1938, in Marshall, daughter of James and Lola Mae Racy Self. On July 23, 1973, in Sedalia, she death by a son, James Howard Cable, Jr. and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 2, 2004, at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel with Father Tom Albers officiating.

Pallbearers will be Charles J. Wansing IV, David Collins, David Busick, David Bower, Billy Bardin and Danny Bardin. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2591 Ladies Auxiliary.

Burial will be in Crown Hill died Monday, May 31, 2004 at Bothwell Regional Health Center.

She was married to David J. Walk, who death by a daughter, Janice Rayl; two sons, Charles R. Walk and David Gerald Walk; and a sister, Frances Jeffries.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004 at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Leo Birk officiating.

Pallbearers will be Paul Kellner, Bruce Morton, Jeff Rayl, Alan Rayl, Walt Long, Wally Jeffries, Darrin Walk and David Nutt.

Burial will be in Millers Chapel Cemetery Fund.

Bessie Virginia Vinson

Bessie Virginia Vinson, 92, of Sedalia, born July 23, 1912, in Morgan County, daughter of William T. and Pinkey Emily Ford Adair. On May 19, 1928, in Sedalia, she was died December 9, 1977.

Mrs. Vinson enjoyed quilting, dancing, fishing, gardening, cooking, traveling and rocking her grandbabies. She was a Pentecostal.

Survivors include two sons, John “Bud” Vinson, of Pilot Grove, and Russell A. Vinson, and his wife, Mary, of Sedalia; four daughters, Daisy M. Huffman, and her husband, Robert, of Warsaw, Dorcas Ann Wolfe, and her husband, Larry, of Blue Springs, Georgia Pope and Shirley Vansell, both of Sedalia; twenty-one grandchildren; fifty-six great grandchildren; and sixteen great great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a grandson, Lewis Vinson; three brothers, John Adair, William Adair and Junior “Scrappy” Adair; and a sister, Annie Vinson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Huffman and the Rev. Bob Wasson officiating.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Michael Vansell, Jimmie Vansell, Mark Vinson, Eddie Huffman, Rodney Vinson and Dennis Vinson.

Honorary pallbearers will be granddaughters, Janice Lefevers, Debbie Oswald, Joetta Mark, Shelly Baro, Lisa Cornwall, Julie Wiskur, Becky Parker, Rena Norman, Gayle Getsay, Patti Stewart, Tonya Schuber, Stacey Wright and Christa Tyler.

Burial will be in Pleasant Hill died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at The Lutheran Nursing Home in Concordia.

He was Cemetery, with military rites at graveside. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the church or to the Concordia Ambulance District.

Robert F. Delph, 1912-2006, San Antonio, Texas

Retired Army Maj. Robert F. Delph, 94, of San Antonio, Texas, born April 16, 1912, in Sedalia, a son of Thomas H. and Claire Fisher Delph.

Mr. Delph was a premature baby. His chances of survival in the first years of his life were slim. His parents divorced when he was very young and he was raised by his grandparents, as well as his parents.

When he graduated from Smith-Cotton High School in 1929, the Depression changed his plans to attend college. He wanted to attend the University of Washington to learn aeronautical engineering. However, he stayed in Sedalia and helped his father run the small bus line and taxi service that he owned. He also worked in the railroad shops in Sedalia. He joined the Missouri National Guard and eventually ended up in the Army serving in Europe in World War II. He retired from the Army with the rank of major in 1963, after serving a combined 20 years in the Missouri National Guard, regular Army and active duty reserves.

After returning from Europe, he moved to San Antonio in 1947 to work for the Greyhound Corp. He retired from Greyhound, after 27 years of service in 1974. Almost every year he returned to Kansas City to visit his mother and to Sedalia to visit his three brothers.

He loved to read and he instilled that love of reading in his children. He read every day starting with the newspaper and ending before he went to sleep at night. He was known for having good work habits.

He helped his children build models and do school science projects. He loved taking things apart and rebuilding them. He restored and refinished old furniture, antique fire arms, as well as working on automobiles. After retirement, he traveled extensively around the world with his wife. They traveled to Europe, North Africa, Asia and the Pacific.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Sue Marie Cribb Delph, of the home; four children, Suzanne Delph Gordon, of Houston, Elizabeth Delph McJunkin, and her husband, James, of Wimberley, Robert F. Delph Jr., and his wife, Cynthia Friend Delph, and John David Delph, and his wife, Karen, all of San Antonio; his grandchildren, Gregory Lawrence Gordon, of Houston, Lindsay Gordon Heppner, of Lyons, Colo., Samarie Delph Goodman, of Dallas, Rebecca Claire Delph and Robert F. Delph III, both of San Antonio; and a great-grandson.

He was predeceased by his three brothers, Jack Delph, Thomas Delph and Donald Delph.

Funeral services were May 10 at St. Andrews Methodist Church in San Antonio. Burial was in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Sunset Funeral Home in San Antonio.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Cancer Care Centers of South Texas for research involving multiple myeloma.
