Elma N. Gottstein
Elma Norine Gottstein, 75, formerly of Poplar Bluff, died July 15, 2001 at the Trinidad State Nursing Home in Trinidad, Colo.
She was born June 6, 1926 in Model, Colo. She loved children, enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting and cooking. She was a member of the Westwood Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.
She is survived by one son, Boyd Gottstein; one sister, Sylvia Montoya; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild, all of Trinidad.
The funeral was held July 20 at Westwood Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Proctor officiating. Burial was in Crossroads Cemetery in Wayne County. Arrangements were under the direction of Cotrell Funeral Service.

Hollis R. 'Jake' Wallace
Hollis Richard "Jake" Wallace, 93, died July 22, 2001 at Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
He was born Sept. 12, 1907 in Mill Spring, Mo., son of the late Robert Edwin and Gertrude (Roark) Abbot Wallace.
He was united in marriage to Carrie Ruby Smith Feb. 20, 1927 and she survives, residing in Piedmont. Mr. Wallace was a retired carpenter from the St. Louis area. He was a charter member of the Ijames Hill General Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for over 60 years.
He is survived by three sons, Eddie Lee Wallace, Lemay, Wilburn Eugene Wallace, Paul Darrel Wallace, both of Piedmont; two sisters, Pauline Hillis, Piedmont, Mazie Kundert, Arnold; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were one son, Hollis Winfred Wallace; two daughters-in-law, Virginia "Jenny" and Charlotte Wallace; two brothers, Charles "Bus" Wallace, Woodrow Wallace; three half-brothers, Perry and James Wallace, Roy Abbot; two sisters, Valda Hooper, Ruby Risinger; eight half-sisters, Hattie, Artie, Mattie, Ollie, Ora, Florence, Bertha and Lovie.
The funeral was held July 24 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Piedmont, with Rev. Carl Boyer officiating and music provided by J. L. Moss, Fred Handy, Darrel and Sherry Silvy, and Frances Thurman, pianist.
Pallbearers were Kevin, Rusty, David, Roy and Terry Wallace and Carl Katinsky. Burial was in Carson Hill Cemetery, Mill Spring.

Darwin D. Ford
Darwin Dale Ford, 62, died July 22, 2001 at his residence in Annapolis.
He was born June 29, 1939 in Annapolis, son of the late John L. and Mamie (Mann) Ford Sr.
He served in the United States Army during the Berlin crisis.
Mr. Ford is survived by five sisters, Carmen Rudanovich, Arnold, Eunisa E. Bond, Centralia, Ill., Carnelia Lueddecke, Piedmont, Judy Ford, Lana Gaston, both of Connecticut; two brothers, John Ford Jr., Annapolis, Wayne Ford, Weldon Springs.
The funeral was held July 24 at Bryson Funeral Home with Rev. Clarence Casteel officiating. Burial was in Annapolis Cemetery.

Blanche 'Bee' Olivia
Blanche, "Bee" Olivia
Allen, 85, died July 13, 2001 in Long Beach, Calif.
She was born Jan. 2, 1916 in Taskee Station, Mo., daughter of the late Robert and Ora (Whitt) Shipton.
She married Floyd Allen and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Floyd (Maureen) Allen, Norwalk, Calif.; sister, Berniece Faries, Alton, Ill.; grandson, F. Ray Allen; special friend, Al Kirby.
Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Cypress, Calif.

Myrtle M. Eads
Myrtle Marie Eads. 79, died July 20, 2001 in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
She was born July 18, 1922 in Patterson, Mo., daughter of the late William and Dillie (Allen) Payton.
She was united in marriage to Billie Eads July 19, 1939 in Piedmont and he survives, residing in Piedmont. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Those surviving are four children, Ronald Eads, Piedmont, Betty Schrader, Imperial, Steven Eads, Piedmont, Janice Hanson, Pine River, Minn.; six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one young son; four brothers, Roy, Carroll, Vernon and Bill Payton; one sister, Virgie Henderson.
The funeral was held July 22 at Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Piedmont, with Bill Barker officiating.
Pallbearers were Larry Payton, Royce Payton, Jonathon Eads, Bill Eads, Lavern Henderson and Dale Henderson. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery.

Roberta Lynn Mell King
Roberta Lynn Mell King, 48, died July 18, 2001 at her home in Maplewood, Mo.
She was born Nov. 27, 1952 in Poplar Bluff, Mo., daughter of Marie Mell Hinkle of Piedmont and the late Norman Mell.
She married John King April 24, 1982 and he survives, residing in St. Louis. Roberta was a 1970 graduate of Clearwater High School.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by three children, Angela King, Columbia, Amanda King, Fenton, Kevin King, Crestwood; stepfather, Dale Hinkle, Piedmont; one sister, Melba Kinnamore, Piedmont; five grandchildren, Andrea Boykin, Aireonna and Sierra Key, Daniel and Destiny King.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and Howard Mell.
The funeral was held July 21 at Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Piedmont, with Rev. Clarence J. Casteel and Rev. Gary Rhodes officiating and music provided by Gary and Joy Rhodes.
Pallbearers were Bob Burns, Mark Lightle, Terry Ford, Ray Heinsohn, Jeffrey Kinnamore and John Kinnamore. Burial was in the Clay Cemetery.

Retha Rene Callahan
Retha Rene Callahan, 45, died July 20, 2001 in Piedmont, Mo. as a result of an automobile accident.
She was born July 29, 1955 in Campbell, Mo., daughter of Fred and Melba (Green) Boeckman, who survive, residing in Campbell.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by four daughters, Rainna (Brad) Barnett, Bernie, Vhonda Lee (Mitchell) Mann, Ellington, Crystal Lewis, Ellington, Andrea (Scot) Massie, Okinawa, Japan; one son, Donald J. Callahan, Ellington; two sisters, Jean Bawmer, St. Charles, Kay Kerperien, St. Louis; one brother, Fred Boeckman, Arnold; 13 grandchildren.
The funeral was held July 26 at Landess Funeral Home, Campbell. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Elmer L. Brown
Elmer L. Brown, 70, died July 18, 2001.
He was born Sept. 28, 1930 in St. Louis, Mo., son of the late Edna Anna and Grover Cleveland Brown. He married Dorthy Jarrett of Mill Spring Feb. 14, 1952 and she survives, residing in St. Ann, Mo. Mr. Brown worked for Ozark Airlines and TWA for 40 years.
He is survived by one son, Elmer Eugene Brown; one daughter, Deborah Sue (Steven) Steward; four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Lee Brown.
The funeral was held July 23 at Alexander Funeral Home, St. Louis. Burial was at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.

Helen B. Barnhart
Helen Bernice Barnhart. 84, died Oct. 2, 2001 in St. Louis, Mo.
She was born Aug. 22, 1917 in Hiram, Mo., daughter of the late Richard and Mary (Barrett) Barnhart.
Helen made her living as a beautician for many years. She attended the Greenville Methodist Church.
Those surviving include one brother, Otto Barnhart, Hiram; one sister, Betty Burton, Poplar Bluff; two nephews, Carl Barnhart, Michael Burton.
The funeral was held Oct. 4 at Ruegg Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Kent Wilfong officiating.
Pallbearers were Steve Barnhart, Carl Barnhart, Bill Hopkins, Gene Hopkins, Doyle Middleton and Jim Ruegg. Burial was in Cowan Cemetery, Hiram.
