Ira E. Bennett
Ira Edward Bennett, 82, died Oct. 9, 2005, at Greenville Health Care in Greenville, Mo.
He was born Nov. 12, 1922, in Greenville, son of the late Ernest and Bertha (Clubb) Bennett.
He was united in marriage to Nora Davis Nov. 21, 1959, and she survives, residing in Silva.
Mr. Bennett served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He had been a commercial construction worker in St. Louis.
He was a Christian and attended New Hope Church in Silva.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Gene (Virginia) Bennett, Imperial, Jimmy (Linda) Bennett, Jerry (Marsha) Bennett, Barnhart; five brothers, Willis Bennett, Illinois, Ernest Bennett Jr., Naylor, Elijah Bennett, Arnold, Bernett Bennett, Paul Ray Bennett, Imperial; four sisters, May Baker, Farmington, Rachel Stratton, Qulin, Rose Mary Bennett, Illinois, Bernice Jessepp, Texas; one stepson Jerry (Polly) Pennington, Greenville; two stepdaughters, Ruby (Robert) Wirtel, St. Louis, Dorothy (Roy) Clubb, Greenville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Bernell Bennett, and one stepson, Glen Pennington.
The funeral was held Oct. 12 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville, with Rev. Gene Proffer and Rev. Ray Hanna officiating.
Music was provided by the Greenville Choir and Daphne Hershey.
Graveside military services were provided by Southeast Missouri Veteran Guard and Navy.
Pallbearers were Rick Clubb, Jerry Clubb, Clifton Pennington, Timothy Bennett, Mark, Greg and Robert Wirtel.
Honorary pallbearer was Jim Davis.
Burial was in Kirkpatrick Cemetery, Greenville.

William A. Barks
William Arza Barks, 79, died Oct. 10, 2005, in St. Louis, Mo.
He was born July 25, 1936, in McGee, Mo., son of the late Walter and Ethel (Howell) Barks.
He was united in marriage to Katie Clubb May 23, 1953, and she survives, residing in Greenville.
Mr. Barks had lived in Granite City, Ill., for many years.
He retired from Nooter Corporation in St. Louis, where he was a welder, after 31 years of service.
He returned to Greenville in 1997.
He served as post commander of the American Legion Post #113, Granite City, and commander of the 22nd District, commander of the Eight and Forty, the post commander of the VFW Post #741, Granite City, and served for 36 years as a member and officer in the American Legion, VFW and AMVETS.
He was also a member of the Wayne County Eagles.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Rodger (Zella) Barks, Granite City, Ill., Bryan Barks, Granite City, Ill.; three grandchildren, Caleb, Tobey and Jason; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews, including Jimmy, Diane, Jerry, Joan and Lorn Howell.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Clyde Barks.
The funeral was held Oct. 14 at Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Greenville, with Rev. Earl Elfrink officiating.
Music was provided by Rev. Elfrink, Leslie and Verna Skaggs.
Pallbearers were Chris Jaco, Eric Jaco, Raymond Storie, Harley Storie, Caleb Ollis, Jerod Howell and William Sidwell.
Burial was in Crossroads Cemetery.
Military Honors were provided by the Missouri Honor Guard and the Poplar Bluff VFW Post #6477.

Jim Berryman
Jim Berryman, 70, died Sept. 8, 2005, at Jackson General Hospital in Jackson, Tenn.
He was born Sept. 29, 1934, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., son of the late Joseph and Eleanor (Bly) Berryman.
He was united in marriage to Betty Penturf and she survives, residing in Jackson, Tenn.
Mr. Berryman served the Jackson, Tenn., community for 41 years through Associated Insurance Services.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a founding partner of Golden Circle Gymnastics.
He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, president of the Jackson Country Club and president of the Jackson Lions Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Jay (Stephanie) Berryman; one daughter, Robyn (Everett) Brantley; four grandchildren, Katie, Jackson, Morgan and Kelsey.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Pat.
The funeral was held Sept. 11 at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Paul Clayton and Rev. David Weatherly officiating.
Pallbearers were Larry Brooke, Ken Brasfield, Jim Scott, Jim Freeman, Bob Fouts, Jerry Berryman, Everett Brantley, Russ Robbins and Bob Kilburn. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Wagster, Hugh Yarbro, Hartley Banks, Jerry Woodall, Roger Smith, Micky Goldstein, Jim Whitaker, Jay Hitzheusen and Jim Kirkpatrick.
Burial was in Ridgecrest Cemetery.

Teresa L. Hutson
Teresa Lynn Hutson, 42, died Feb. 21, 2005, in Piedmont, Mo.
She was born Aug. 9, 1962, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., daughter of Avaleen (Cade) Hutson, who survives and resides in Poplar Bluff, and the late Leamon James Hutson.
She was united in marriage to Hiram McFadden Jr. May 21, 1981, and he survives, residing in Piedmont.
Ms. Hutson grew up in the Broseley area and graduated from Twin Rivers High School in 1980.
She was employed by the Wayne County Journal-Banner as circulation manager.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Other survivors include one daughter, Amber McFadden, Piedmont; one brother, Eric (Amanda) Hutson, Benton; one sister, Myra Diane Hutson, Poplar Bluff; two stepdaughters, Candace Smith, Jonesboro, Ark., Michelle Honeycutt, West Plains.
The funeral was held Feb. 24 at Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel, Piedmont, with Rev. James Littles officiating and music by Jeff Parker and Sarah Edgy.
Pallbearers were Matt, Jeremiah and Chris L'Heureux, Jimmy Nicholson, Stacy Nicholson and Tim Wallace.
Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, Piedmont.

Matthew E. Somerville
Matthew E. Somerville, 63, died Feb. 19, 2005, at his home in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
He was born May 28, 1941, in Torrance, Calif., son of Dorothea (Denton) Walker, who survives and resides in Torrance and the late Thomas Somerville.
He married Retha JoAnne Bone March 5, 1959, and she survives.
Mr. Somerville was a self-employed consultant.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed the computer and fishing.
He was a member of the Shirley Hills Baptist Church in Warner Robins.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two daughters, Tamara Somerville, Washington, D.C., Tabatha Taylor, Portland, Ore.; one son, Thomas (Eugenia) Somerville, Santa Ana, Cost Rica; two sisters, Diane Lincir, San Pedro, Calif., Susan Keith, Modesto, Calif.; two grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Feb. 25 at Duncan Cemetery with Rev. Larry Duncan officiating and Don Duncan assisting.
Arrangements were under the direction of Cotrell Funeral Home, Poplar Bluff.

Ivan H. Crites
Ivan H. Crites, 77, died Feb. 26, 2005, at Poplar Bluff Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
He was born Aug. 19, 1927, in Burch, Mo., son of the late Andrew and Rushie (Walker) Crites.
Mr. Crites was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He had worked as a clerk for Barber's Cash Store in Silva and did some farming.
He was a member of the Mount Hope General Baptist Church of Coldwater.
He is survived by one sister, Ina (Elmo) Brawley, Derby, Kan.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Almon and Victor Crites, and one sister, Alice Pulley.
The funeral was held Feb. 28 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville, with Rev. Willis Guess officiating.
Pallbearers were Chip Costephens, Earl Baumgardner, Edward Carmack, Ronnie Carmack, Bob Reed and Don Benson.
Burial was in Crossroads Cemetery, Greenville.

Ike C. Davis
Ike C. Davis, 75, died Feb. 23, 2005, at his home in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
He was born March 5, 1929, in Lone Hill, Mo., son of the late William and Zilpha (Campbell) Davis.
He was united in marriage to Cleta Jeanne Norris May 28, 1962, and she survives, residing in Poplar Bluff.
Mr. Davis had been a meat cutter for a grocery store.
He was of the Baptist faith and had been a Baptist minister.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Michael Davis, Silva, Curtis and Charley Davis, both of Poplar Bluff; four daughters, Linda Pollard, Fenton, Aleda Moore, Ironton, Patty Sutton, Piedmont, Amanda Davis, Poplar Bluff; one brother, George Davis, Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Nora Bennett, Silva, Geri Wade, Escondido, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Sutton, three brothers, John, Louie and Charles Davis, four sisters, Marie Belli, Mary Ann Grave, Bessie Henson, Lola Mae Wells.
The funeral was held Feb. 26 at Ruegg Funeral Home, Greenville, with Rev. Louie Robinson and Rev. Dennis Bazzell officiating.
Pallbearers were Leon, Ricky and Jerry Clubb, Kyle Davis, Robby Sutton and Ryan Harper.
Burial was in Thornton Cemetery, Greenville.
