Lorene Kirkpatrick Bramlett

Lorene Lavern Bramlett, of 1501 Rex, Apartment 4, Joplin, died at the age of 72 on July 2, 2002.
She was born on March 14, 1930, in Baxter Springs, Kan.
Lorene was married to Clarence Norman Bramlett on June 21, 1947.
They farmed near Asbury, Mo., where she was involved in church and community activities, and also 4-H County Extension clubs.
They moved to Webb City in 1966, where she worked for Goswick Bag Company until she started her own business, “Draperies by Lorene,” which she operated until 1990.
She treasured the many lasting friendships that grew with her business.
During this time she was involved in Women’s Ministries and the Webb City Business and Professional Women’s Organization, where she was honored to be the Woman of the Year in 1986-87.
In 1990 they finally retired in Joplin until present time.

Mary Helen Hawkins

Mary Helen Hawkins, 97, of Monett, Mo., passed away at 12:05 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2001 at Cox Medical North Hospital in Springfield, Mo., following a long illness. She was born on March 28, 1904 in Monett, Mo., the daughter of the late Ben and Sarah Gilbert Williams.
She was a homemaker. Helen was a member of First United Methodist Church, Monett Chapter 190 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Queen Esther Chapter 202 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Hobbs-Anderson Post 91 of the American Legion Auxiliary, and GRE Club, all of Monett, Mo. She was married to Thomas Leo Hawkins and he preceded her in death on January 29, 1972.
Survivors include one son, Charles Bailey of the state of Colorado; seven grandchildren; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Vera Lea Calton.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2001 at Monett I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monett, Mo., with Rev. Clif Crockett officiating with burial to follow, under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett, Mo. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett, Mo.

Bernard Keith Tyrrell

Bernard Keith Tyrrell, age 77, of Joplin, passed away at 5:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2001 at Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Center after a short illness.
Mr. Tyrrell was born on January 20, 1924 in Peoria, Ill. He lived in Joplin for the past year. Keith sold airplanes for Walston Aviation and Spirit of St. Louis and he built houses until he retired. Keith graduated from St. Johns Military Academy in St. Louis, and went on to serve his country in the Air Force as a B-29 pilot during World War II. Keith loved sailboats and airplanes. He was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Michelle Hunter, Lenexa, Kan., and Tracy Tyrrell, St. Louis, Mo.; three sons, Trevor Tyrrell, Dallas, Texas, Terry Tyrrell, California, and Mark Tyrrell, Joplin, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The body has been taken for cremation. No local services are planned. Please make memorial contributions to Southwest Missouri Hospice in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Charles Phipps

Charles Everett Phipps, age 84, of Joplin, died in Bari, Italy, Tuesday, April 24, 2001 after a sudden illness. He was born August 3, 1916 in Omaha, Neb., to Mr. and Mrs. Everett Phipps.
Mr. Phipps was a missionary with the Italian Christian Mission serving for 40 years in Italy. He was the founding minister of the Boulevard Church of Christ in Sylvania, Ohio. He taught music at Midwest Christian College in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was also associated with the Artesia Christian College in Artesia, N.M., and more recently he did short term missionary work in Mexico. He was a member of the College Heights Christian Church.
He married Mary Frances Fields, January 13, 1937 in Royal Oak Township, Mich. She preceded him in death after 40 years of marriage. He married Ivia May Monroe in Miami, Okla. August 21, 1978. She preceded him in death March 4, 1995.
He married Maxine Fream June 24, 2000, and she survives.
Additional survivors include the children of his wife, Ivia: Edie Snyder of Cuba, Mo.; Linda Slaughter and husband, Ron, of Neosho, Mo.; Larry Collins and wife, Judy, of Derby, Kan.; Chuck Norris and wife, Terry, of Balch Springs, Texas; Sheryl Norris of Mesquite, Texas; and David Norris and wife, Mickey, of Eustace, Texas. The children of his wife, Maxine: Vanita Davis of Joplin, Leslie Raymond of Kansas; Shawn Fream of Arizona; and Stephanie Glandville of South Carolina. One brother, Donald R. Phipps of Vestaburg, Mich.; 27 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2001 in Bari, Italy. Interment will be Thursday in Terrcina, Italy, where he served as a missionary for many years. Local memorial services will be announced at a later date.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home of Neosho.

Michael "Mikie" George Mitchell

Michael "Mikie" Mitchell, age 50, of Joplin, passed away at 12:22 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2001 at St. John's Regional Hospital after a sudden illness.
Michael was born December 14, 1950 at Westfir, Ore., and had lived in Joplin since 1996. He graduated from Columbus, Kan. High School in 1969. He then moved to Riverton, Kan. where he lived for 22 years.Currently he worked for general contractor, Darrel Anderson Construction, at "A" and "M" Homes in Riverton, Kan. Previously he worked for R.W. Tri-State Mower as a parts manager. He worked for Modeine Manufacturing in Joplin as a welder. He worked at U.S. Metal Container in Miami, Okla. He worked at Helio Manufacturing in Pittsburg, Kan., and at Wadler Manufacturing in Galena, Kan. He was a part-time employee at the Golden Cue, and at the Columbus Country Club. He worked at the Wal-Mart in Baxter Springs, Kan. when it first opened. He worked for K and S Sheet Metal Manufacturing Co. He loved trout fishing and the mountains.He coached little league baseball in Riverton for his four sons. He was a member of the A.P.A. In 1997, he went to Las Vegas, Nev. to play in the national pool players tournament. His team was called "Stix and Stonz." They played out of the "Golden Cue." Currently, he was playing out of the O.K. Bar and Billiards. He also played on an eight ball team called the "Billiard Bandits." He was captain of a nine-ball team called the "O.K. Bar Legends." Mike also participated in the St. Mary's and St. Peter's Catholic Schools fund raisers since 1996. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Columbus, Kan. Mike was currently attending St. Mary's Catholic Church with his wife, Rebecca, for the past five years.
On February 20, 2000 he married Rebecca "Bekki" Lett Johnson at Joplin. She survives at the home.
Other survivors inlcude five sons, Michael Mitchell, Miller, Mo., Jerry Mitchell, Lawrence, Kan., Shannon Johnson, Carthage, Jason and Matt Mitchell, both of Riverton, Kan.; three daughters, Tisha and Maryann Johnson, both of the home in Joplin, Stephanie Lant, Van Metter, Ia.; his sister, Barbara Tash and her husband Rawleigh, Riverton, Kan.; his mother-in-law, Aggie Lett, Joplin; his brother-in-law, Ron Lett, Joplin; one nephew; two nieces; four grandsons; five granddaughters.
He was proceded in death by his parents, George Ervin and Ida Sirvilla Racy Mitchell.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Audie Tash officiating. Burial will follow at Carterville Cememtery. Pallbearers will be Gary Lambert, Norman Olson, Eddie Adams, Rodney Carlisle, Jay REctor, Travis Sills, Galen Ewing, and Rick Jordan. Honorary pallbearers will be A.P.A. Pool Members. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Parker Mortuary Chapel. The family will also receive friends at the home.

John Turner

Webb City, Mo. - Johnny Lee "John" Turner, age 63, of Webb City, Mo., passed away at 8:55 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2001 at Freeman Hospital-West in Joplin after a long illness.
Mr. Turner was born May 9, 1937 in Hart, Mo., to Claude and Elsie Masters Turner. He lived nearly all of his life in Webb City. He was a 1955 graduate of Webb City High School. He attended college at Rice University in Texas and Missouri Southern State College in Joplin.
Prior to his retirement he worked as a surveyor, auditor and salesman for several businesses in Webb City and Joplin. He was a former member of the Webb City Council, and the Webb City Personnel Board, the Jane Chinn Hospital Board of Directors, and the Jasper County Democratic Central Committee. He served many years in the Naval Reserves. He was formerly an active sports official and baseball coach. He was elected to the Joplin Officials Association Football Official Hall of Fame in 1998.
He married Sue Pence on April 21, 1957 in Carterville, and she survives. Additional survivors include one daughter, Tammi Dunlavy, Webb City; two sons, Greg Turner, Tulsa, Okla., and Jon "Scooter" Turner, Cabool, Mo.; two sisters, Virginia Ballenger, Mabank, Texas, and Evelyn Akers, Henderson, Texas; one brother, Forrest Turner, Mexico, Mo.; three grandchildren, Michael Moore, Joplin, Amanda Moore and Melanie Moore, both of Webb City; two great-grandchildren, Zachary Moore, Joplin, and Johnathan Moore, Webb City; and his good friend and neighbor, Mary Whetstone. He was preceded in death by one brother, Claude Turner Jr. and one sister, Freda Yocum.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin with Paul Whetstone, Minister officiating. Pallbearers will be Burnace Pence, Leon Harding, Robert Pence, Jim Dunlavy, Brad Harding and Darieus Adams.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Hedge-Lewis Chapel in Webb City.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the Webb City High School Scholarship Fund.

Clarice Royle

Clarice H. Royle, age 89, Joplin, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, June 23, 2002, at a local nursing home, after an illness.
Mrs. Royle was born October 1, 1912, in Joplin, to the late James Albert Herron and Mary Shirrell Herron and was a lifetime Joplin resident. A homemaker, she was a member of AARP and First Baptist Church, Joplin.
She married William L. “Bill” Royle on August 2, 1930, in Carthage, Mo. He preceded her in death on March 6, 1990.
Survivors include a son, Lynn Royle, Joplin; one sister, Lavern Clinedinst, Salem, Va.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Greg Landburg will officiate. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Pallbearers will be Michael Royle, Chadwick Royle, Kipp Royle, Zebulon Royle and Thaddaios Royle.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Joplin.
