Charles Wyrick

Charles B. Wyrick, 78, 101 S. Park Ave., died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 1997, at his home after a several-year illness.

Mr. Wyrick was born June 11, 1918, at Arcadia, Kan. He had lived most of his life in Joplin. He worked for 37 ½ years in the mineral and fibers division at Eagle Picher Industries, Joplin, retiring in 1982.

He married Hazel Rusten on Aug. 29, 1942, at Joplin. She survives.

Additional survivors include seven sons, Charles "Todd" Wyrick, Oronogo, John Wyrick, Joplin route 6, Billy Best, Tecumseh, Okla., Robert D. Best, Pensacola, Fla., Roger Best and Danny Best, both of Girard, Kan., and Larry Best, Pittsburg, Kan.; five daughters, Marty Thornberry, Joplin, Mickey Sherman, Tulsa, Okla., Rose Anne Theimer, Thornton, Colo., Iona Wyrick, Westland, Mich., and Betty Fisher, Girard; a brother, Fred Wyrick, Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters, Ruth Gaw, Joplin, and Ruby Barker and Dorene Patrum, both of Neosho; 22 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

A daughter preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. The Rev. Junior Elam will officiate. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Carl Meyer, Russell Sherman, Robert Sherman, Clay McCallister, John Michael Wyrick and Steven Theimer.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.

Roberta Nations

CASSVILLE, Mo. - Roberta Nations, 98, Cassville, died at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 1997, at South Barry County Hospital after a short illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

June Torgeson

CARTHAGE, Mo. - June L. Torgeson, 79, Carthage, died at 4:31 p.m. Friday, May 23, 1997, at her home after a short illness.

Mrs. Torgeson was born July 28, 1917, in Polk County, Wis. She lived the last 20 years at Carthage, moving from Wilmington, N.C. She was a heathcare worker. She attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Carthage.

She married Milton Torgeson on Aug. 26, 1935, at Northwood, Iowa. He died May 5, 1986.

A son and daughter also preceded her in death.

Survivors include three sons, Bruce Torgeson, Wilmington, Rodney Torgeson, state of Washington, and Daryl Torgeson, Linthicum, Md.; a brother, Harold Pedersen, San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Ethel Momchilovich, Neosho; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The body will be cremated.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Paul Shultz will officiate.

Contributions may be made to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, in care of Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage.

Kay Williams

LAMAR, Mo. - Rita Kay Williams, 55, Lamar, died at 10:48 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 1997, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, after a long illness.

Mrs. Williams was born Oct. 1, 1941, at Lamar, Colo. She was a longtime Barton County resident, having moved from Lamar, Colo. as a small child. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Lamar Church of Christ.

She married Howard D. Williams on March 27, 1960 at Lamar. He survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Rick Williams, Lawrence, Kan., and Rob Williams, Lamar; a daughter, Rita Nelson, Lamar; her mother, Wilda Buck, Lamar; a brother, Keith Buck, Lamar; two sisters, Karen Carrison, Newton, Kan., and Karole Powers, Iantha; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lamar Church of Christ, with Carroll Gregory officiating. Burial will be in memory Gardens Cemetery, Lamar.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Max Stratton, Dean Stratton, Jim Gilmartin, Doug Parker, Chet Parker and Michael Parker.

Contributions may be made to Fair Haven Children's Home, in care of the funeral home.

Beulah Chinn

Beulah M. Chinn, 80, Joplin, died at 12:15 a.m. Friday, May 23, 1997, at the home of her son after a long illness. Mrs. Chinn was born March 30, 1917, in Joplin and was a lifetime resident. She and her husband established Henry's Fine Food on West Seventh Street in 1955. They relocated to Elm Center, Seventh and Range Line, in 1959 and again to 3535 South RangeLine in 1965.

She was a member of Ruth Chapter No. 177, Order of the Eastern Star; Azotus Chapter No. 5, White Shrine of Jerusalem; Azotus Club, Order of Amarantha; and the Joplin Shrine Ladies' Club. She was a former member of the Women's Club of Joplin, and of the Soroptomist Club. She was a member of Central Christian Center.

She married Henry Chinn on April 11, 1955. He died May 3, 1974.

Survivors include two sons, Warren St. Clair, Joplin, and Robert St. Clair, Bolivar; a daughter, Joyce Frey, Hillsboro; a stepsister, Dorothy Reed, Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Parker Mortuary, with the Rev. Doug Wilkerson officiating. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.

Pallbearers will be Robert St. Clair II, Gary St. Clair, Steven St. Clair, Edward Thompson, Michael Thompson, and Mark McPherson.

Contributions may be made to the Joplin Shrine Club Travel Fund, in care of the mortuary.

Fred Cline

WEBB CITY, Mo. - Fred J. Cline, 64, Claflin, Kan., died Friday, May 23, 1997, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kan., after an illness. Cline's brother is Ed Cline, Webb City.

Mr. Cline was born Oct. 11, 1932, in the state of California. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars as part of a 20-year Navy career as a mineman and chief. He was a farm worker. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 7428 of Hoisington. He was a member of the Elks Club of Webb City, and the National Rifle Association.

There are no additional immediate survivors.

The body has been cremated.

Services will be announced at a later date by the Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington.

Contributions may be made to the Great Bend Humane Society or Ducks Unlimited, in care of the funeral home.

Albert Conard

SARCOXIE, Mo. - Albert Louis Conard, 90, Sarcoxie, died at 7:20 p.m. Friday, May 23, 1997, at a local nursing home after a long illness.

Mr. Conard was born April 20, 1907, at Fletcher, Okla.

He was a longtime resident of Reeds.

He was a farmer and a Presbyterian.

He married Edith Marie Michael on Sept. 16, 1929, at Reeds.

She died April 2, 1995.

Survivors include three sons, Louis Conard, Sarcoxie, Walter R. Conard, Seneca, and Albert Conard, Winchester, Calif.

Services are pending under the direction of Housh Funeral Home, Sarcoxie.
