Iva Garrison

WASHBURN, Mo. - Iva Pearl Garrison, 95, Washburn, died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 1997, at her home after a long illness.

Mrs. Garrison was born Nov. 23, 1901, at Kalamazoo, Mich. She provided adult foster care in her home in Michigan for 35 years. She moved to Washburn in 1990. She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Cassville.

She married George Raymond Garrison on March 19, 1921, in the state of Michigan. He died in April 1977.

Survivors include two sons, Carl Raymond Garrison, Vicksburg, Mich., and Leslie L. Garrison, Mattawan, Mich.; three daughters, Merna Jean Coppock, Washburn, Velma June Homan, Vicksburg, and Ellen Marjorie Minnis, Union City, Mich.; four sisters, Mildred Skinner, Genevieve Cramer and Evelyn Taylor, all of Vicksburg, and Luella Morrison, Scotts, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

No services are planned.

Otis Gorham

NEOSHO, Mo. - Otis C. Gorham, 81, 210 N. Valley St., Neosho, died at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 1997, at a local nursing home after a two-year illness.

Mr. Gorham was born Oct. 17, 1915, at Neosho.

He was a lifelong Neosho resident.

He was a truck driver for 35 years.

He was a bus driver for the Older Adults Transportation Service for seven years.

He was a member of Burkhart Church of Christ, west of Neosho.

He married Doris Hamilton on June 6, 1940, at Neosho. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Don Gorham and Robert L. Gorham, both of Neosho; three daughters, Pat Mitchell and Sue Spencer, both of Neosho, and Jeannie Reed, Austin, Texas; a sister, Ruth Chilcoat, La Center, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, with John Anderson, minister, officiating.

Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, south of Neosho.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Douglas Gorham, Richard Spencer, Ronny Gorham, Jerry Gorham, Chris Mitchell, Eric Mitchell, Sam Gorham and Jason Gorham.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Newton County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Carolyn Jones

EVERTON, Mo. - Carolyn Sue Dunn Jones, 58, Everton, died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 1997, at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, after a long illness.

Mrs. Jones was born May 6, 1938, near Everton.

She was graduated in 1958 from Everton High School.

She was a telephone operator with American Telephone & Telegraph Co. for more than 23 years. She retired in 1990.

She was a member of Everton Presbyterian Church and American Legion Post No. 443 Auxiliary, Everton.

She married Paul L. Jones on July 14, 1957, at Everton. He survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Steeley, Everton; a son, Michael Jones, Broken Arrow, Okla.; a brother, Larry Dunn, Columbus, Kan.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Birch Funeral Chapel, Everton, with the Rev. Christine Iannucilli officiating.

Burial will be in Ray Springs Cemetery, southwest of Everton.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to the Everton American Legion Auxiliary.

Goldie Martin

VERONA, Mo. - Goldie Lyvonne Martin, 73, Verona, died at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 1997, at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield, after a long illness.

Mrs. Martin was born Nov. 7, 1923, at Viola.

She was a member of Madry (Mo.) Baptist Church.

She married George Martin on Aug. 18, 1947, at Berryville, Ark. He survives.

Additional survivors include three sons, Larry Martin and Howard Downs, both of Verona, and Cecil Downs, Marshfield; three daughters, Shirley Zinn, Verona, Marilyn Richter, Exeter, and Barbara Garrett, Aurora; four brothers, Arlis Bilyeu, Reed Springs, Everett Bilyeu, Los Animos, Colo., George Bilyeu, Omaha, Neb., and Purd Bilyeu, Doe, Calif.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home, Monett.

Brenda Garner, minister, will officiate.

Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Bill McDaniel

IANTHA, Mo. - James W. "Bill" McDaniel, 93, Iantha, died at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 1997, at Barton County Memorial Hospital, Lamar, after a short illness.

Mr. McDaniel was born March 23, 1903, in Vernon County.

He had lived in Iantha since 1924.

He was a farmer and had worked for the Iantha Missouri Farmers' Association for 14 years. He retired in 1968.

He was a member of Iantha United Methodist Church.

He married L. Vera King on May 20, 1934 in Iantha.

She died on Nov. 14, 1979. He was also preceded in death by a son.

Survivors include a son, Jim McDaniel, Houston, Texas; and five granddaughters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Iantha Methodist Church. Burial will be at Iantha Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Davis, Matthew Davis, Lindon Wolf, Bruce Wolf, Andy Wolf and Adam Wolf.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lohmeyer-Konantz Funeral Home, Lamar.

Aaron Mills

AURORA, Mo. - Aaron B. Mills Jr. 67, Aurora, died at 2:22 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 1997, at Aurora Community Hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Mills was born Sept. 30, 1927, at Oran, Mo.

He moved to the Aurora area three years ago.

He was a member of Church of God, Aurora.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a retired machine operator for Caterpillar, Peoria, Ill.

He married Lucille Murphy on Sept. 3, 1950, at Piggott, Ark. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Kenneth Mills, Bloomington, Ill.; two daughters, Louise Spradley, Houston, Texas, and Sharon Blankenship, Aurora; a sister, Lucille Harding, Las Cruces, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home, Aurora. The Rev. Tommie Blair will officiate.

Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora.

Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Evelyn Powers

SHELDON, Mo. - Evelyn Edna Parsons, 93, Sheldon, died Wednesday, March 5, 1997, at a Lamar nursing home after a one-year illness.

Ms. Parsons was born Feb. 8, 1904, in Sheldon.

She was graduated from Sheldon High School and was a lifelong local resident.

She taught for a short time in Sheldon and at Prairie View School, rural Sheldon.

She was a member of Help Your Neighbor Club and Prairie View Club.

There are no immediate survivors.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Beeny-Ferry Funeral Home, Sheldon.

Friends may call until service time at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
