Lynwood McCoy Smith
Lynwood McCoy Smith, age 78, St. Louis, passed away August 3, 2000.
He was the beloved father of Karen Lynne and husband Donald Bolinger, Ronald Kent Smith, Carlton Grant Smith (Hannah King), dear grandfather of Ryan D., Rachel D. and Ross D. Bolinger and dear brother of Beulah Francis.
Visitation was Monday, August 7 from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service immediately following at Church of the Reformation-Lutheran in the Oak Grove Chapel.
Mr. Smith was a poet and his poetry appeared on a weekly basis under the by-line of L. M. Cooper-Smith.

Winfield Noel Laney, Jr.
Winfield Noel Laney, Jr., age 78, of Camdenton, Mo., died Monday, September 18, 2000 in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.
Winfield, son of Winfield Noel Laney, Sr. and Daisy Dulaney Laney was born February 19, 1922 in Wesco, Mo.
He was raised in the Wesco and Steelville areas and graduated from Steelville High School. After graduating, he attended college in Norman, Oklahoma, then faithfully served his country in the Army Air Corp during World War II. Most of his life, Winfield worked as a carpenter. He moved to the Camdenton area in 1995.
During his life he had been a member of the Elks Lodge and the VFW organizations.
Winfield is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Varley, and a sister, Elbalee.
Survivors include four sons, Bruce of Camdenton, Bryan, Cuba, Mo., Dale and Pat, Kirkwood, Mo.; three daughters, Dianna Long, Florida, Tammy Scrivner, and Mary Helmich, St. Louis, Mo.
Also surviving are a brother, Larry Laney of Steelville and a sister, Gean Mullen of Cuba.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 23, in Wesco Cemetery, Wesco, Mo. Arrangements are under the direction of the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, Mo.

John Dawson Happel
John Dawson Happel of Cuba, Mo. was born on September 8, 1940 at Cuba, Mo. to the union of Samuel E. Happel and Rose E. Happel nee Biggs and passed away on September 23, 2000 at the age of 60 years and 15 days.
John was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters Rena McClain, Dorothy Layton and Fay Yocom.
On May 8, 1995 John was united in marriage to Lorraine Krewson in Arkansas.
John was a veteran having proudly served his country in the Army of the United States of America and was honorably discharged on February 28, 1965.
He was a member of Trinity Chapel and Cuba VFW.
Those who survived to mourn his passing from this life are his devoted wife Lorraine Happel; one son, James D. Happel and wife Cathy; one daughter Deanna Goudeau; two step-daughters Tina Thomeczek and husband David and Dawn Harmon; one sister Opal Gestring and husband Bill; 11 grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
John was a devoted husband, loving father, stepfather, brother, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
John Dawson Happel was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 26, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gary Mace officiating. Pallbearers were Paul Maerli, John Smith, Pat Pierre, Ed Mitchell, Jim Palmer and Ray Mortimeyer. Interment was in the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. Memorials to the Phelps County Hospice. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.

Matred L. Halbert
Matred L. Halbert nee Perrigue of Cuba, Mo. was born on August 14, 1914 at Steelville, Mo. to the union of John H. Perrigue and Myrtle Perrigue nee Coppedge and passed away on September 29, 2000 in St. Louis, Mo. at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 15 days.
On May 23, 1931 Matred was united in marriage to Jewell Halbert in Kansas. Two daughters, Peggy and Betty, were born to this union. Matred and Jewell were happily married until he preceded her in death on July 24, 1995.
Matred was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Clarence, Paul and Ben Perrigue and two sisters Orpha Blount and Edna Williamson.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cuba, Mo. and an active member of the Mariners until she had to move to St. Louis in 1995.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her two loving daughters Peggy Allman and Betty Kuntz; 6 grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Matred was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
Matred L. Halbert nee Perrigue was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Monday, October 2, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Heide Hackman officiating. Interment was in the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Mo. Memorials to the First Presbyterian Church of Cuba. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.

Pastor Allen Payne
Pastor Allen Payne, of Purdy, Mo., formerly of Leasburg, Mo., passed away as a result of an automobile accident on Friday, September 22, 2000 at the age of 42 years.
Pastor Payne was born December 30, 1957 at Sullivan, Mo. to Woodrow and Margie (Witt) Payne. He was reared in the Sullivan, Mo. area and was baptized in his youth into the Baptist faith. He was a charter member of New Testament Baptist Church in Sullivan.
On November 15, 1975 he was married to Sherry Dazey at St. Clair, Mo. and to this marriage two sons were born.
Allen was employed as a machinist by trade for 15 years until his call into the ministry on January 21, 1990. His first pastorate was at Grassy Hollow Southern Baptist Church, which he accepted on March 29, 1992. Allen's first service as a Pastor was on Easter Sunday of that year.
On June 12, 1995 he was called to First Southern Baptist Church of Leasburg, Mo. and was active there until receiving a call in June of 2000 to Arnhart Baptist Church at Purdy, Mo.
Allen lived as a witness to his Lord Jesus Christ. He was a blessing to many lives, not only to the congregations he served, but also to the communities he served as well.
He found pleasure in the outdoors and loved fishing, camping and observing wildlife. Allen also enjoyed golf and was learning the lost art of roping. A true man of God, he will be fondly remembered for his genuine faith, compassion, personality and love.
He is survived by his wife Sherry of Purdy, Mo., two sons, Allen Lee Payne and wife Tracy of Pacific, Mo., and Robert Payne of Bourbon, Mo., his parents, Woodrow and Margie Payne of Leasburg, Mo., one brother, Richard Payne of Palm Bay, Florida, parents-in-law, Leroy and Phyllis Dazey of St. Clair, Mo., other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2000 from New Testament Baptist Church in Sullivan with Pastors Jerry Williams and Fred Miller officiating. Interment was in Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg, Mo. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Mo.

Eddie Wayne Patrick
Eddie Wayne Patrick was born Tuesday, March 25, 1947, at St. Louis, Mo., a son of the late Guy Reynold Patrick and Doris Faye Patrick (nee Kent). His parents died at an early age and he lived with his grandmother and grandfather, Mayma Lee and Clarence Oles Patrick. After his grandmother's death, he lived with Marvin and Lorraine Chilton, an aunt and uncle. They became his extended family.
He served in the United States Air Force, entering the service in New Orleans, Louisiana, and received an honorable discharge December 12, 1966 at Kincheloe Air Force Base, Kinross, Michigan.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife Bonnie (Sargent) Patrick of the home in Steelville, Mo.; three daughters, Tammy and husband David Bourque of Macon, Georgia, Dionne Kathleen Patrick of Steelville, Mo., Katie Sue Patrick, attending Vassar College, in New York; one brother, Guy Lyndon Patrick of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters, Frances Sue and husband Wayne Bratten of McAllen, Texas and Sherry Lynn Vanover of West Monroe, Louisiana.
Three grandchildren, Grant and Hanna Bourque, and Lacey Paige Patrick; his mother-in-law, Fedora Jeanne Sargent of Roseville, California; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry James and Gail Sargent of Bullhead City, Arizona, Takako Sargent of Roseville, California.
His extended family, Marvin and Lorraine Chilton of St. James, Mo.; Bud Blackburn of Eugene, Mo., Richard Chilton, Jean and Bob Watkins, all of St. James, Mo., Larry and Judy Chilton of Wesco, Mo., Dale Chilton of Los Angeles, California, Sharon and Jerry Tennyson of Rolla, Mo., Donna and Matt Bruns of Rogersville, Mo., Debbie and John Scudder of Wilson, Wyoming; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law Densel Joseph Sargent, brother-in-law Joseph Edward Sargent and (adopted) sister-in-law Mary Etta Blackburn.
Ed will always be remembered as a skilled carpenter, master contractor, creative musician, nature lover, gourmet chef, talented singer, entertaining jokester, green thumb gardener, sharer of a wealth of knowledge, generous benefactor, good provider, caring friend, proud family member, loving father, and adoring husband
He was a unique individual, who lived life to the fullest. He definitely left his mark on mankind and will be greatly missed.
Eddie Wayne Patrick lay in state 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2000, at the Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.
Funeral services were held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2000, in the Britton Chapel with Cindy Martin officiating. Musical selections were provided by Jake and Stephanie Scudder.
Committal prayers and interment were in Wesco Cemetery, Wesco, Mo. Serving as pallbearers were his nephews, Larry Chilton, Jr., Derek Chilton, Sedric Waguespack, Curtis Waguespack, Tommy Dale Plank, John Watkins and Bill Plank.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.

Theodore "Ted" E. Gehring
Theodore E. Gehring was born Saturday, April 6, 1929, a son of the late Edwin Gehring and Myrtle (Richardson) Gehring. He died Thursday, September 28, 2000, at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 22 days.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are two sons, Michael and Patrick Gehring of Lanchester, California.
Ted may be remembered as a character actor, appearing on television in "The Little House on the Prairie." He was returned to California for final disposition.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.

Corinne "Connie" Carr
Connie Carr, nee Faust, was born Tuesday, November 5, 1912, at Edwardsville, Illinois, a daughter of the late John Faust and Edna (Somerfad) Faust and entered eternal life Sunday, September 24, 2000, at the Phelps County Medical Center, Rolla, Mo., at the age of 87 years, 10 months and 19 days.
She graduated from Edwardsville High, Jewish Hospital of Nursing in St. Louis, and attended George Peabody Teacher's College, Nashville, Tennessee, majoring in Public Health Nursing. She spent most of her professional life as a rural public health nurse in Missouri.
She was assigned on a demonstration project in Washington County, Mo. where she met John Carr, son of George Carr and Martha Blaine Wallace Carr. On November 9, 1940, at the First Presbyterian Church of Edwardsville, Illinois, she and John were married.
They have two sons and one daughter and would have celebrated their sixtieth anniversary this November.
She was acting administrator of County Nursing Service when she retired in 1971. She has served as elder in the Presbyterian Church and remained an active member as long as her health permitted. She also did a lot of volunteer work and enjoyed gardening, rose culture, knitting and needle point.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Clinton Faust and one sister, Norma Lovret.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted husband John Carr of the home in Steelville, Mo.; two sons, Tom Lakenan Carr and wife Gale of Kirkwood, Mo., Jay Blaine Carr and wife Ethelyn (Eth) of Baker City, Oregon; one daughter, Sally Jane and husband Don Smith of Springfield, Mo.
One sister, Edna Croxen of Steelville, Mo.; brother-in-law Ivar Lovert of San Diego, California; three grandchildren, David Blaine Carr of Kirkwood, Mo., Shannon Smith and Stephanie Smith of Springfield, Mo.; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Corinne Carr lay in state 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2000, at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2000, at the Steelville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Charles D. Likely officiating. Musical selections were congregational hymns with organist Deloris Bell.
Committal prayers and interment were in Pleasant Point Cemetery, Steelville, Mo. Serving as pallbearers were Henry Adams, Maurice Cape, Dan Carr, Tim Carr, Bill Coffman, Bob Fishwick, Henry Howdeshell and John Taylor.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.

Velma R. Kamler
Velma R. Kamler of Gerald, Mo., formerly of Sullivan, Mo., passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2000 at the age of 79 years.
Mrs. Kamler was born on August 11, 1921 in Bloodland, Mo. (currently known as Ft. Leonard Wood) to the late Arthur Bert and Cora Agnes (Hance) Firestine. Following her upbringing in the Bloodland area, she moved as a young woman to St. Louis, where she lived for approximately thirty years. On February 10, 1945 she was joined in marriage to Ralph W. Kamler, and to this union four children were born.
In the early 1970s Mrs. Kamler and her family moved to the Sullivan area. She continued living there until 1977, when she moved to Gerald. Throughout her adult life, Velma helped support her family by working outside of the home at times. Her primary vocation, however, was serving her family as a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker.
She was a member of Old Argo Presbyterian Church, and also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. Velma enjoyed crocheting, walking, bird watching, and eating out at Chinese restaurants. She will always be cherished and remembered as a wonderful and giving mother, who carried a special love in her heart for all of her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Kamler of Gerald and Gary Kamler and wife, Laura, of Sullivan; two daughters, Agnes Voss and husband, Roger, of Linn, Mo. and Pamela Fink and husband, Kevin, of Bourbon, Mo.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law, Marvin Kamler and wife, Reba, of Fenton, Mo., a special aunt, Ethel Reifer of Owensville, Mo., nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kamler was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, three brothers, Archie, Willie, and Tommy Firestine, three sisters, Carrie Thompson, Mable Wade, and Cora Wade, and also additional brothers and sisters who died in infancy.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2000 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Terry Palmer officiating. Interment was in Argo Cemetery. If desired, contributions may be made to the Argo Presbyterian Church in memory of Velma R. Kamler.

Lorraine Doris Radford
Lorraine Doris Radford of Bourbon, Missouri was born on June 5, 1924 at St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Albert Dennis Holtz and Nellie Elizabeth Holtz nee Burkhardt and passed away on November 9, 2000 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of 76 years five months and four days.
On June 14, 1942 Lorraine was united in marriage to Francis B. Radford. Three children, Forrest, Sharon and Frances, was born to this union. Lorraine and Francis were happily married until he preceded her in death on May 29, 1979.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Gary Holtz and one grandson Matthew D. Wirz.
She was a faithful member of the Bourbon First Baptist Church, Bourbon, Missouri and a member of the Three Mile Extension Club.
Lorraine was an active member in her community until her health started to fail. She was always willing to help anyone that needed her help.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her loving son Forrest "Sonny" Radford and wife Nona; two daughters Sharon Rhodes and husband Jim and Frances Paquet and husband Gary; four sisters Bernice Watson and husband Don, Glorine Derrick, Esther Walker and Lois Malyor; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Lorraine was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
Lorraine D. Radford was in state at the Eaton Funeral Home, Bourbon, Missouri.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 12, 2000 at 2 p.m. at the Bourbon First Baptist Church, Bourbon, Missouri with Rev. Mike King officiating.
Interment was in the Hodge-Enloe Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri.
Memorials to the Bourbon First Baptist Church.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
