Thomas Wayne Tarver

Thomas Wayne Tarver, 63, of Bastrop, La., died Sept. 9, 2006. He and his wife Shirley spent the greater part of their lives ministering and sharing the gospel through preaching and singing God’s praises.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 12 at the House of Grace in Delhi, La.

He leaves his wife of 43 years, Shirley Jean Warren Tarver; three sons, Timothy Tarver of Deatsville, Ala., Johnny Tarver of Monroe, La., Michael Tarver of Bastrop; three daughters, Lena Willis of Farmerville, La., Jena Henderson of Bastrop, Michelle Hearnsberger of Sulphur, La.; a brother, Milton Tarver of Loranger, La.; 11 grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Ethelene Hulsey of Holly Springs.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmy, Lynn and Bill.

Lou Hazel Allen

Lou Hazel Allen, 73, of Byhalia, died Sept. 6, 2006 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Robert Allen and a member of Bunco Club.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 9 at Church of Christ in Olive Branch, where she was a member. Burial was in Hollands Creek Cemetery in Savannah, Tenn. Jessie Dickison officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves two sons, Danny Blagg, David Blagg, both of Byhalia; a daughter, Debbie Duncan of Marion, Ark.; seven brothers, Alton Lambert, Charles Lambert, Rayburn Lambert, Mac Lambert, all of Savannah, Tenn., Jack Lambert of Culman, Ala., Tommy Lambert, Jimmy Lambert, both of Savannah, Tenn.; four sisters, Huberta Allen, Geneva Watson, Virginia Lambert Qualls, all of Savannah, Tenn., Linda Graves of Fenton, Mich.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, Alex Blagg.

Tommy Joe Branch

Tommy Joe Branch, 49, formerly of Holly Springs, died Aug. 23, 2006 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. He was a member of the Providence MB Church in Holly Springs. He worked all his life as a handyman doing odd jobs including land surveying, roofing and many other laborer skilled jobs.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Sept. 1 at Faith Fellowship C.O.G.I.C. in Memphis, Tenn. Burial was in Shelby County Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn. Christian Funeral Services, Memphis, Tenn., was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Helen Branch; a brother, Willie Frank Branch of Helena, Ark.; a sister, Christine Branch of Helena, Ark.; and many other family members.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Leona Branch; three brothers, Albert Porter, Ozell Branch, James Branch; and two sisters, Lillian E. McClellan, Elizabeth Ann Branch.

Pallbearers were family and friends. Honorary pallbearers were Willie Frank Branch, Joel McClellan, George Branch, Willie Jones, Tony Shumpert and James Yancey.

John L. Elliott

John L. Elliott, 83, of Hickory Flat, died Sept. 9, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital Union County in New Albany. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. He was employed with the US Forestry Service for 28 years in timber sales and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 12 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery in Hickory Flat. Bro. Clyde Thompson officiated.

He leaves his wife, Reba Jean Taylor Elliott of Hickory Flat; a son, Larry Glen Elliott of Hickory Flat; a daughter, Johnnie Louise Roberson of Ashland; a stepson, Charles Wayne West of Hickory Flat; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

James Malone

James Malone, 81, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 1, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Miss. in Oxford. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a chairman of the deacon board, former Justice Court Judge of Marshall County, a World War II veteran of the US Army, and a retired merchant with Malone and Sons Grocery Store.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Sept. 9 at New Hope MB Church in Laws Hill, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Ernest Jones officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Amanda Ella Ingram Malone; two daughters, Cheryl Washington of Memphis, Tenn., Sheila Malone of Houston, Tx.; four sons, Malcolm Malone of Holly Springs, Kenneth Malone, Kelsey Malone, both of Memphis, Tenn., Travis Malone of Jackson; a brother, Jerry Malone of Indianapolis, Ind.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Lawrence Malone and James Roland Malone.

Pallbearers were Michael Malone, John Malone, David Miller, Eisenhower Pryor, Essex Wilson and Ivory Kinard. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry D. Malone, J.R. Pryor, Levan Miller, Wilford Thompson, Lincoln Martin, Albert Lay Jr. and McEwen Walker.

John Aubry Mitchell

John Aubry Mitchell, 68, of Jackson, Miss., died Sept. 8, 2006 at the MS Baptist Medical Center. He graduated from Mississippi State University. He was a traveling salesman of college textbooks and also worked at Craft Office Supply and Specialty Roofing Company. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 12 at Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel in Jackson. Burial was in Lakewood Memorial Park.

He leaves his wife of 24 years, Dona W. Mitchell; a son, John A. Mitchell Jr. of Baltimore, Md.; three daughters, Katherine Renee Chisolm of Brandon, Kathy Lynne Cate of Utica, and Sherry Cate Liston of Jackson; a brother, Donald Terry Mitchell of Victoria; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Brooks Mitchell.

Memorial donations may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 6000 Old Canton Road, Jackson, MS 39211, or Mississippi Blood Services, 1995 Lakeland Drive, Jackson, MS 39216.

Fred Taylor

Fred Taylor, 78, of Potts Camp, died Sept. 10, 2006 at his home. He was a member of Temperance Hill Baptist Church and a supervisor with Fruehauf Trailer Co.

Services were held at 4 p.m. on Sept. 13 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Temperance Hill Cemetery. Bro. Malcolm Brock, Bro. Jason Howell, Bro. Stanley Huddleston and Bro. David Helmic officiated.

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Laverne B. Taylor; a son, Mark Taylor of Ripley; two daughters, Gail McCraw, Diane Clayton, both of Potts Camp; a brother, Russell Taylor of Holly Springs; three sisters, Ruby Carter of Holly Springs, Minnie Lindsey of Hickory Flat, Warene Floyd of New Albany; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Fred Allen Taylor.

Pallbearers were Ricky Taylor, Lynn Taylor, Jeff Roberts, Steve Lancaster, Jeff Lancaster, George Weatherford, Steve Taylor, Glenn Taylor, Jeff Smith, Carl Lindsey, Wayne Lindsey, Randy Grisham, Jimmy Duncan, Craig Brisco, Kyle Brisco, Matt Betts, Gary Taylor, Bobby Betts, Kenneth Stanton, Danny Lindsey, Donald Betts, Timothy Weatherford, Dennis Lindsey and Steve Betts.

Lajune Jeanett White

Lajune Jeanett White, 71, of Potts Camp, died Sept. 9, 2006 at her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Holly Springs and worked in the church nursery, and she was a factory worker with The Wurlitzer Co.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 12 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery.

She leaves four sons, Bobby White, Olive Branch, Jerry White of San Antonio, Tx., David White of Cairo, Terry White of Grand Junction, Colo.; two daughters, Barbara Bradley, Delores Sullivan, both of Potts Camp; a brother, Emmett Holbrook of Holly Springs; two sisters, Bessie Smith of Cleveland, Nell Means of Puckett; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by sons, Eddie White and Wayne White; brothers, James Asa Holbrook, Jesse Holbrook, Fred Holbrook; and a sister, Annie Lou Hoffman.
