Vestellar Akins Talley

Vestellar Akins Talley, 87, died Oct. 29, 2008 at Trinity Mission Health and Rehabilitation. She was the widow of Roosevelt Talley, and a member of Mt. Moriah MB Church of Holly Springs. She reared many children and gave many a place in her home to live.

Services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 8 at Mt. Moriah MB Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Dr. R.J. Wilson, pastor, officiated. H.C. Jett/H.C. Ford and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves Clothie Talley, Glennie Glass, Reccie Cooper, Joe Willie Terrell, Roosevelt Talley, Lovie Talley, Jerry Talley; 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Gabriel Young, Marlon Young, Ernest Gilliespie III, Terrell Todd, Kendrick Glass and Michael Cleggins. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Glass, Steven Glass, Cleotha Talley, Zedrick McHuley, Jeffery Terrell and Christopher Talley.

Clyde Wright Alderson

Clyde Wright Alderson, 75, of Potts Camp, died Oct. 3, 2009 at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. He was an Army veteran and a farmer.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 6 at First Baptist Church in Potts Camp, where he was a member. Burial was in the Alderson family cemetery in Potts Camp. Bro. Ronnie Dickinson officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Betty Mansel Alderson; two sons, Ricky Alderson, Randy Alderson, both of Potts Camp; four sisters, Dorothy Declue of Southaven, Mary Jarrett of Potts Camp, Loretta Houston of Holly Springs, Shirley Bell of Hickory Flat; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Jackie Barnett, Mark Jarrett, Rusty Houston, Wendell Thomas Jr., Lonnie Cook, Neil Mansel.

Louis Bassie Jr.

Louis Bassie Jr., 52, of Byhalia, died Oct. 2, 2009 at Olive Branch. He was a Christian, welder, and an Air Force veteran.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 5 at The Flame in Byhalia. Burial was in Byhalia Cemetery. Dr. Jim Biedenharn, Rev. Victoria White and Father Bob Tucker officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Polly Woods; a daughter, Lauren Paige Bassie of Arlington, Tx.; and seven sisters, Vicki Fioranelli, Darlene Warren, Toni Canon, Susan Bassie, Dorothy Russell, Mary Frances Griffin, Dixie Hart.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Schlesser.

Pallbearers were Bobby Clayton, Marvin Shackelford, Allen Howell, Lynn Cox, Buck Hobbs, Jay Woods, Blaine Hart and Michael Russell.

William Bowen

William (Billy) Bowen, 77, of Potts Camp, died Oct. 4, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a Baptist and retired from the State of MS Hwy. Dept. after 38 years of service. He was a deacon at the First Baptist Church, Potts Camp alderman for 20 years, and on the board of directors at Marshall Academy for seven years. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of Lodge 35 in Holly Springs.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 7 at First Baptist Church in Potts Camp. Burial was in Bethany Cemetery. Bro. Wayne Gullett and Bro. Chuck Fowler officiated. Directing music was Bro. Andy Roe. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Mildred Bowen; a daughter, Dianne Burton of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, John Bowen of Oxford; two sisters, Ruth Bowen of Memphis, Tenn., Betty Brower of Winona; a grandson and a great-granddaughter.

Pallbearers were Dwight Smith, Art Humphreys, Billy Mitchell, Randy Walker, David Alderson, Kenneth Alderson and Carl Pipkin.

Stanley Jamison

Stanley Jamison, 42, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Byhalia, died Sept. 27, 2009 at his home. He was a member of New Covenant MB Church in Chicago, Ill., where he served as a junior usher; later he joined Harvey Memorial Community Church, where he served in the men’s ministry, internal security, media ministry and the church trustee board.

Graveside services were held at 12 noon on Oct. 4 at Davis Family Cemetery in Byhalia. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Phyllis Nevels-Jamison; a daughter, Kayla Briana Jamison of Chicago, Ill.; his mother, Emma Jean Davis Jamison of Chicago; four sisters, Crissy Jamison of Minneapolis, Minn., Marilyn Thompson of Chicago, Kathy Taylor of Winchester, Tenn., Tekeyah Eden of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Cedrick Williams of Holly Springs; his grandfather, George Davis of Byhalia.

Marcellus Emonz Jimmerson

Marcellus Emonz Jimmerson, 29, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 19, 2009 in Holly Springs. He was a member of South Ashland Church of Christ, graduate of Northwest Community College and aviation school, member of NAACP, and aircraft mechanic with Cash In Transit in Holly Springs.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 26 at Ashland High School gymnasium. Burial was in Samuel Chapel MB Church Cemetery. Pastor James Norman officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Cortina Evans Jimmerson; three children, Alexia Bianca Evans, Myles Emonz Jimmerson, Macy Marcella Jimmerson, all of Holly Springs; his mother, Marjorie Watkins Jimmerson of Michigan City; his father, Marvin Jimmerson of Michigan City; a sister, Shikina Jimmerson of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Marcus Jimmerson of Michigan City, Marcel Looney of Memphis, Tenn.; and grandmothers, Chessie Jimmerson of Memphis, Tenn., Ida Watkins of Holly Springs.

Pallbearers were Dupree (Boo) Crawford, Laprae Crawford, Toni Crawford, Brent Duncan, Travis Hampton, Von Harris, Marquis Johnson, Terrell Johnson, Wayne Jones, Lavar Nunnally, Tony Nunnally and Jarvis Terry. Honorary pallbearers were Alan Beck, Maryo Beck, Montrell Brooks, Brandon Moss, Jai Nickelberry, Freddie Reaves Jr., Tavares Reaves, Garrett Terry and Markee Tipler.

Memorials may be made to an account opened at Regions Banks: T.A.M.M. Jimmerson Fund. The purpose of this account allows family and friends to help with the necessary expenses for beneficiaries Alexia Evans (Jimmerson), Myles Jimmerson and Macy Jimmerson.

Willie Ann Sharp

Willie Ann Sharp, 39, of Memphis, Tenn., died Sept. 22, 2009 at her home.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 3 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Byhalia. Burial was in Robert Chapel Cemetery in Coldwater. Rodgers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves six daughters, Alice Westbrook, Ashley Longstreet, Charita Longstreet, Gracie Longstreet, Monica Nelson, Laqueshia Westbrook, all of Memphis, Tenn.; three sisters, Mae Wright of Blytheville, Ark., Tamela Rainer, Kierre Newson, both of Memphis, Tenn.; two brothers, Terry Newson of Olive Branch, Isador Jones of Memphis, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren.

Charlene McGill

Charlene Ash McGill, 78, of New Albany, died Oct. 1, 2009 at her home. She received her B.A. degree from the University of Mississippi and was a school teacher, and had also worked in quality control for Blue Bell in Baldwin. She was a member of the American Angus Association and showed and raised cattle. She was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church in Baldwin and affiliate member of the First United Methodist Church in New Albany.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 3 at the United Funeral Service Chapel. Bro. Leslie Nabors and Bro. Barry Male officiated. Burial was in the Lebanon Cemetery.

She leaves her husband, Douglas McGill; two sisters, Sidney G. Pipkin of Blue Mountain, Christine Hatchett of Waterford; two half-sisters, Sue Bolden, Bonnie Ash; seven half-brothers, Gene Ash, Lonnie Ash, Ricky Ash, Henry Ash, Danny Ash, Jacky Ash and Michael Ash.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Wilfred Ash, James G. Ash Jr., Russell Ash, Cecil C. Ash; and two sisters, Stanley Fesmire and Irene Lawrence.

Pallbearers were Kevin Taylor, Ronnie Ash, Charles E. Ash, Shane Gray, Eddie Lawton, Jimmy Pipkin, Mitchell Davis and Mitchell Watson.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or LeBonheur Children’s Hospital.
